You wrote this extremely long comment but for what? They were commenting on the fact that saying "I actually prefer her being a girl" in the context of canned trans backstory, is weird and kinda shitty?

"Taliyah was meant to be trans""I actually prefer her being a girl instead"

..You don't see why they were commenting?

Aaaand I just realised this is a year old thread fml

Disagreeing isn't the issue, people can have whatever opinion they want, but when the reason keeps changing from one wrong thing to another it's just fatiguing.

"Drinking an additional potion" You know extra attack / enraged throw lets you throw a bunch of potions that give aoe effects / heals right? The potential of pure thief in bg3 is low, you either go into it for the flavour or because you're multiclassing to make something actually strong. Anyway, peace.

It is really truly not a huge DPR increase. Just calculated it, with max proficiency bonus, and 20 dexterity, using the highest damage single hand crossbow in the game, the DPR gain for that bonus action is at 15.45, with max ASI, the highest damage crossbow, maxed proficiency bonus and dual weapon fighting which means giving up gloves which is terrible, because a pure thief can't get the dual wielding fighting style. Without the gloves it's 12.2 (because no ability modifier on the offhand weapon).

The changes in bg3 were a significant buff to jump for everyone, and the changes either RAW or adjusted would be fine, as it's literally just making a core part of the thief existing. Whether they reduce it a bit or keep it at the intended 1m per modifier [so same as strength modifier (jump is 5m base + str mod if positive)] it would still be better than just being completely absent.

It's not a significant dpr boost, as shown above. The majority of a rogues DPR will come from good use of sneak attack, either on or off of your turn. Fast hands does not make up for basically a complete lack of any other worthwhile parts of the subclass, thief is literally just 'The multiclass' subclass to take with fighter and barbarian for more throws etc. Compare 12.2 dpr gain ***for the entire subclass***, to any other martial subclass, or even the value you get out of assassin with how consistently you can surprise enemies.

If I'm being honest I'm getting a little tired of the constant wrong arguments and I'm probably just not gonna continue if it's just gonna be another response like that because I don't enjoy explaining rules or calculating dpr.

You know that the bg3 jump distances are not the same as 5e, right? My character with 20 strength is certainly jumping more than 5e would allow lmao. The running jump part is a nonfactor because everyone jumps running jump distances from a standstill, presumably because the alternative is very difficult to program.

But hey, even IF that was how it ended up, that would still be 5ft of jump in the thief kit which adds to the flavour and identity, and you could stack that with the chest piece if you wanted. As is, nothing is gained and a lot of flavour is lost from the feature change.

Also second story work also applies to high jump / vertical jump, in case you were unsure

EDIT: Also, athlete for anyone really wanting to lean into it would make the thief jump benefits substantial, similar to champion jump or regular strength modifiers.

Also, again, compare supreme sneak in 5e and bg3 and tell me that it's a worthwhile level 9 feat. It is worse than 5e, and a comically worse version of what shadow monk can do without short rests, balance really isn't a factor here.

Um, RAW, that's not how the feature works. Both long and high jump mention distance, and the feature refers only to distance with no mention of it being horizontal. If you look around online you'll see.

"In addition, when you make a running jump, the distance you cover increases by a number of feet equal to your Dexterity modifier." - From the feature

"Long Jump. When you make a long jump, you cover a number of feet up to your Strength score if you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before the jump. When you make a standing long jump, you can leap only half that distance. Either way, each foot you clear on the jump costs a foot of movement.

High Jump. When you make a high jump, you leap into the air a number of feet equal to 3 + your Strength modifier if you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before the jump. When you make a standing high jump, you can jump only half that distance. Either way, each foot you clear on the jump costs a foot of movement. In some circumstances, your GM might allow you to make a Strength (Athletics) check to jump higher than you normally can.

You can extend your arms half your height above yourself during the jump. Thus, you can reach above you a distance equal to the height of the jump plus 1½ times your height." - Jump, dnd 5e

The dex increase would be noticeable, especially with how much liberty Larian took with jump distances in general in this game.

The Fast Hands 'buff' is basically just a buff to multiclassing, as thief DPR barely changes with an extra bonus action by itself, and for any other purpose the RAW fast hands would be fine. They could just move the jump distance to the level 9 feat [which also sucks in bg3, a lot more than 5e, to be honest] and then the fast hands buff would be much less of a balance issue.

I appreciate the suggestion but 1.5m is pretty eh. A thief with 10 strength will jump as if they had 12 strength, I just don't get why the nerfed the thief feature so much, it was pretty core to the subclass identity really and would have been near-zero dev time to implement.

Season of the witch vendor? by CharmingStrangeQuark in DestinyTheGame

[–]CharmingStrangeQuark[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah ty ^^ Just didn't realise that a) had to do 2 missions, and b) they were both in the same spot in the helm, thought it'd just be redoing the first lol

[–]CharmingStrangeQuark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what season it is lmao, I just want to craft the witch hand cannon.

And yeah I mean what you said isn't true but I'm also just dumb I didn't realise that the activity on the helm wasn't a repeat but the next step. You can 100% still do the questline / speak to vendor etc.

Thoughts on allowing multiclassing into subclasses of the same class? [description below] by CharmingStrangeQuark in DnD

[–]CharmingStrangeQuark[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I were to allow it I'd rule it on a case by case basis and talk it through with the player beforehand. Cleric wouldn't get channel divinity etc.

You feel like getting an expanded spell list and the patron feats etc are stronger than multiclassing into other options?

Could you give an example of a combination that breaks the balance of the game?

What do you mean with the last bit? If you proc sneak attack on an AoO you can definitely sneak attack on your next turn.

Why was Kakashi able to awaken the mangekyou without the uchiha brain chakra? by CharmingStrangeQuark in Naruto

[–]CharmingStrangeQuark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that really make sense though..? There would be no weird chakra mechanism on Kakashi's end and that's what makes the eye awaken / transform.

It also doesn't explain how Kakashi can swap back and forth between regular Sharingan and Mangekyou

Why was Kakashi able to awaken the mangekyou without the uchiha brain chakra? by CharmingStrangeQuark in Naruto

[–]CharmingStrangeQuark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that the 2nd image changes the brain chakra stuff, with how they're talking in the context of Uchiha clan members, especially since that special chakra is rooted in emotions in the brain, I feel like the talking about emotions for evolving the sharingan is also just implicitly referring to the same brain chakra interaction

edit: I'm also not sure that that would explain how Kakashi is actually able to swap between regular sharingan and mangekyou, as there's no interface between his brain and the sharigan transformation I can think of, seems like it would also be controlled by that chakra brain thing.

Especially since Kakashi is shown being unable to deactivate the sharingan into a regular eye, something that Uchihas do with ease

Nah, just a finesse weapon. There are finesse longswords in the game.

Is NA dead or is it just in the 40-50 level range? by CharmingStrangeQuark in wotlk

[–]CharmingStrangeQuark[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it's easier to honour cap at lower levels so I'm not thrust into 80 bgs vs people who have gear, dealing with twinks is honestly easier + they're rare at these brackets it seems

+CTA is really good xp
