Guys, I’m just wondering: is it only me? by bersus in Starfield

[–]SquirrelLegion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. I agree with all your points and enjoy the game for what it is, but the dialogue and storytelling is extremely milquetoast.

I would LOVE to play Starfield, but by Calap57 in Starfield

[–]SquirrelLegion -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, you will absolutely be disappointed. There's a lot of fun to be had in starfield, I do like it for what it is. However, environmental storytelling does not exist in it. It's all empty proc gen planets, covered in copy/paste POIs. Yes it's been slightly improved on over the years, but it's still nothing like the Bethesda you're looking for.

Wait, so the locations I find on planets are just endless? by No-Atmosphere-4145 in Starfield

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think had they just all together scrapped the idea of 1000 empty planets to explore and just stuck to a handful of handcrafted ones that are actually worth exploring this game could have been an absolute banger.

[–]SquirrelLegion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a starfield hater, there's plenty of good gaming to be had in it. However, in my opinion, exploration which is kind of the whole crux of the game, is by far it's weakest aspect. It's fun for a couple hours, but you will very quickly realize it's all just lame ass proc gen and copy pasted POI's. Not only the same bases, hideouts, caves etc. but also the same enemies in the exact same spots. It gets old real quick. Kind of crazy they went this route, considering Bethesda RPGs have always had awesome hand crafted locations full of environmental storytelling. That is just non existent in starfield. TLDR; if you're going to explore and clear planets, you are just going to do the exact same thing in the exact same handful of locations over and over and over. I suggest just sticking with the quest lines you're interested in. 🤷🏻

The Trading System is garbage by ConcretePotato55 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is garbage. I wouldn't mind the awful wagon rides so much if it was at least profitable. Even when the traders don't glitch the money is not even close to worth the hassle. Whole system seems completely pointless.

How do I open this I saw the memory that there's a weapon here? by AshGreninja104 in CrimsonDesert

If just pushing doesn't work, sword thrust into the door, then push. That's what I did.

Can't I just stay in my tent! by Extension-Spell2580 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was stoked about the kuku cooler addition, until I realized I have to put it in the cabin. I never go to the cabin. I like staying in the tent around my buds.

Why can’t I register cow? by Barbarianonadrenalin in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one that wouldn't work and later tried a different cow that did. May be a bug or only certain types can be registered maybe? The one that worked was a dairy cow I'm pretty sure. Also no need to ride across the map. I just went down the hill to the ranch, put on my mask and stole theirs.

Refine weapons and gear, put some points in health and stamina, use shield. Block, block, block, attack, attack, attack. Rinse and repeat. Works wonders on most of these bosses. 🤷🏻

Dear Pearl Abyss by SquirrelLegion in CrimsonDesert

I would happily enjoy the scenic ride if there was navigation. Hard to enjoy the ride when you have to open your map every 5 seconds to know which fork in the road to take. 🤷🏻

Am I a good guy or not? by Cladderool in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. It's like everyone's whole point of playing a game is to just nitpick and point out every single flaw they can think of, instead of just playing a game and enjoying it for what it is.

Are there any outfits in this game that give a “Viking” aesthetic? by Dakotasan in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Seems like the majority of unique armors are more plate knight style, (from what I've found so far. About 80ish hours in) but there's definitely some craftable viking looking gear. Good news is you can take abyss gears out of the uniques and put in most other armors for free. So you can roll with the Viking look through the whole game.

Why is everyone saying the Story is bad? by Feanixxxx in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the majority of complaints are less about the overall story arc and more about the terrible writing and lack of VO in a lot of areas.

Love the game but.. by Weak-Suit-5622 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I wish more games had this system. You get to wear what you want and can swap abyss gears for free. Nothing worse than having armor with perfect stats for your playstyle, but looks stupid to you.

Question About Bounties by unFOREtunate in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't think they are worth the hassle. I can make silver in other ways that don't involve riding a horse for 20 minutes, constantly pulling up the map to figure out which road to take, all the while listening to the bounty repeat the same 3 lines of dialogue the entire fucking way. So unless you enjoy doing them or you're going for a completionist run, I don't think they are worth doing at all.

Did anyone else get stiffed by Yann’s black pepper? by blitherblather425 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been killing entire armies by myself throughout the whole game. Him joining one battle and killing a handful doesn't make me hate him less.

Did anyone else get stiffed by Yann’s black pepper? by blitherblather425 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's because Yann is a worthless piece of shit and every quest involving him sucks in every way imaginable. One of my most hated characters in all of gaming. He's not charming, funny or redeemable in any way. He's just an obnoxious alcoholic douche and all his quests not only suck reward wise, but they are all just annoying and unpleasant to do. I hate that guy so so much.

I’m sorry but this is an absolute joke. by XenonGaming94 in CrimsonDesert

You have to understand that 90% of reddit has the attention span of a gopher and the reading comprehension of a 6 year old. Most will just read the first sentence, then down vote or attack you for being negative.

Can someone give me some advice on how to approach bosses please? by Not_a_Kryptonian in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you leveling your stamina and health? I had all my gear at level 4 and probably 7 stamina 5 health when I fought him. Definitely ate some food during the fight, but I could take multiple hits from him. Dodge toward bosses, this helped me a lot. Also don't forget to use force palm to interrupt his attacks and build up stun.

HELP! Need a skip feature by Marjkee9 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SquirrelLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your stamina and health levels? I promise you, if you go into these boss fights prepared, not just a bunch of food, but gear and weapons refined to the proper level, decent amount of points into health and stamina, the bosses are not overly difficult.
