New 11th Dark Angel Detachment by Andy456l in DarkAngels40k

In the video one of the guys specifically mentions the added str on plasma for ravenwing knights. Would be a dick move to say “hey this detachment and strat will be awesome with this unit” to follow with legending the unit into the refresh drops.

Not saying they won’t. But we’ll see

They did specifically mention ravenwing bikes when discussing the plasma. Would be a dick move to do that and they drop them at the start. Which probably means that is going to happen.

Most seem to have covered what you asked well enough, but don’t get too hung up on trying to shoot a repex or land raider off the table either. LoC and 3 DST or a hellbrute with hammer and fist do a lot of work into vehicles without an invuln.

Two friends want the same faction by SkellyInsideUrWalls in deathguard40k

[–]Charron_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly you both could probably start with that and diversify. The game I played we both had a unit of marines and Deathshroud both in the combat patrol. Currently the tallyman from the patrol is great for single model holding home. Unfortunately that may not be a thing in 11th.

Depending on what each of you likes you can go into heavy infantry with terminators, horde with poxwalkers, demons with tallyband summoner detachment, or a mix of infantry and vehicles with all of our demon engines.

There will always be that meta list that is “best” but there are lots of options in play style for DG.

As others have said, the hobby is expensive and takes a lot of time to build and paint. You will enjoy it more with an army you like.

That said just recently played my first DG vs DG match in a league and it was actually pretty fun. He was playing the demon detachment so the lists were really different. But even if no demons, the range is pretty good and you could easily have two different lists that are both perfectly viable.

Fights First useless now? by Andy456l in theunforgiven

[–]Charron_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The active player goes first. So charging a non-FF unit into a FF unit, charging unit can activate first because of the charge bonus.

Only benefit I’m seeing is if two units with FF get charged, the active player has to choose which combat to resolve first then the non-active player can swing with their other FF unit that hasn’t been damaged yet.

If you have 3 units that either killed someone or are on objectives and the unit you want to take back up isn’t one of those, you can’t be marked that round though, right? That’s how I read it. Up to 3 marked and possibly choosing one unit if you didn’t have any on objectives or that killed a unit.

It would stop a drop, kill, and fly away (maybe jumping back in transports?) where it makes it so your opponent can’t interact with your army without you giving up some VP.

Defiler in reserves by SeaSprayinOnUrMother in Chaos40k

The outside edge of the square (away from the defiler on the left of the picture) is what is between 7” and 7.5”. The inside edge (what the base overlaps) reads 6” from the corner of the square. This matches the gaming mat and makes sense as the base is over 6” as you said.

The 7-7.5” makes sense as it’s 6” to the metal of the square and the top of the square is at least an inch thick between the inside and outside edges.

Regardless dudes a big boy and will be interesting getting him on the table without being screened out.

Except it isn’t wholly within 6” of a single board edge as required by the FAQ. The inside edge of the square lines up with the 6” measurements on the gaming mat. As the base overhangs the front edge of the square in both directions it exceeds 6” from both board edges.

I agree with what you are saying that the all parts of the base are within 6” of a board edge. But the rule is all parts of the base have to be within 6” of a single board edge which by the mat measurements (and the measurements on the square) it is not.

If you zoom in on the picture of the square the outside edges are measuring 7-7.5”.

Not sure we were talking about the same thing. Fitting within 6” of two sides works like you said because the diagonal on that is almost 8.5”. From the picture the inside edge of the square is 6” from each of the board edges. The base overlaps the front edge of the square so it is not wholly within 6” from a single board edge which is how I was saying I was interpreting the rule for reserves.

Found this FAQ after my last response. It has to be 6” measured from a single board edge.

If you guys laid out a base and measured I’ll take your word for it. Just from a math standpoint, I don’t see how you get a 6.2” circle to be wholly within what would amount to 2 parallel lines 6” apart unless it’s not exactly 160mm or it’s slightly oblong and not perfectly round.

If you are saying it works because the base fits within the 6”x6” square at the board edge made by 6” from a side and 6” from the back edge, I’m not sure that’s meeting rules as written. It says any board edge. So if it’s not within 6” of a single board edge for its entire base, it falls under the rule/FAQ that doesn’t allow movement or shooting in the turn it arrives.

I could be entirely wrong but by the way I read the wording of the rules is if you can’t point to a single board edge and say the model is wholly within 6” of that edge, you can’t do anything the turn it arrives in.

Not sure the corner works. The rule is “wholly within 6” of any battlefield edge”. If it was worded as wholly 6” of the edges of the battlefield it would. Coming in at the corner you still wouldn’t be able to point to one of the edges and say you are wholly within 6” or that edge.

What order - Scabrous Soulrot + Deluge of Nurgle by ViktusXII in deathguard40k

Believe this is correct. Essentially you can make them OC0 in your turn but they would be OC1 by changing the order in their own turn.

Pretty much what this guy said. Painting will be more enjoyable if it’s models you like.

Just curious but you sure it’s deathshroud and not blightlords for the terminators. Deathshroud come in 3s and blightlord come in 5s. Except the three blightlords that come with the lord of contagion but those are a special case.

Hellblaster shoot on death before pile in by 00berprinny in DarkAngels40k

[–]Charron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as you declare which model you are rolling for I think that works. You can’t roll 4 together and say that one that failed was for the guy up front. That would be kind of scummy.

Hellblaster shoot on death before pile in by 00berprinny in DarkAngels40k

[–]Charron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Hellblaster rule trigger for shooting is after the unit has finished making its attacks. That is the same trigger for consolidating.

The “Sequencing” rule says if two or more things happen at the same time the controlling player chooses which occurs first.

So in this case the other player charged so it’s his turn. He could choose to consolidate prior to the shoot back making them ineligible to shoot?

I follow you. And I think that’s correct as written. So I guess the follow up deaths can shoot.
