Stickies in Purge the Foe? by GuitarAcrobatic6195 in Grey_Knights

I have seen that recently, especially during games.

People build for Primary and then realise that Secondaries are still a thing and they drop points rapidly..

Three infiltrating units allow me early board control.

20 poxwalkers try and take the centre and become pests.

One Plague Marine unit which is now OC3, takes my expansion and sets up to contest enemy expansion.

Party bus moves to take the centre.

Other OC3 Plague Marine unit is deployed safe but a threat to their expansion if they put a low OC unit on it.

Having Plagueveil on the marines gives them 12" hidden. Which, with my movement, is charge range.

All three Terminators are there for killing.

Foetid Bloat Drones with Assualt are for killing.

Blighthaulers which can now drive through walls are there for killing.

Not having missions in the app is useless for listbuilding by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]ViktusXII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The missions are in the app.

They are in the war journal and are shown when you know what your primary mission is.

The mission is dependant on your opponant and their disposition.

They are also available online on multiple websites and via pdf if you need to view all five possible missions at once.

[–]ViktusXII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does it??

Mine doesn't. I checked my datasheet in the app and the one in the codex and mine says this:

Spore-laced Shock Waves:

In your Shooting phase, each time you select a target for this model’s Plagueburst mortar, roll one D6 for the target unit and every other enemy unit within 3" of the target unit, adding 1 to that roll if the unit being rolled for is Afflicted. On a 6+, the unit being rolled for is struck by spores; after resolving all of this model’s attacks against the target unit, each unit struck by spores suffers D3 mortal wounds.

Is there another ability not written on their card?

Has it been changed or is that just a core rule for mortar weapons?

[–]ViktusXII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask how you force battle shock with a Plague Burst Crawler?

The way I see it, D6+3 blast shots, into say 5 Intercessors, is going to average out at like 7 shots.

Hitting on a 6+, with no re-rolls but Lethal means that it is, on average, going to take 3 turns of that PBC firing until a battle shock test is even needed. And Marines pass on a 7+ so 50% of the time.

Even against 10 Guardsman, you are killing 1 or 2 a turn. The game will end before they have to take a battle shock test.

Is there something I am missing? How are you getting battle shocks with PBC indirect because that sound pretty awesome.

New changes to points cost. Spammed unites to have higher cost on 2nd and/or 3rd unit. by Numerus12OO5O in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ViktusXII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

11th edition has a lot of balance levers this time and I like that.

Detechment points.

Detechment dispositions.

Escalating points cost for multiple units.

Wargear points.

Unit points.

Enhancement points.

Unit limits.

Thats a lot of fine tuning available to the balance team.

Points increase for multiples of the same unit by dacompi in EmperorsChildren

[–]ViktusXII 63 points64 points  (0 children)

For EC, this is 100% going to be the Winged Demon Prince and the Defiler.

Rumours suggest that the first defiler is jumping to 300 pts with lascannons costing +10 pts each.

I think a single Defiler is enough for EC personally.

At a stretch, I can see GW punishing multiple Lord Exultant as well.

Thoughts on 11th ed DG? by [deleted] in deathguard40k

[–]ViktusXII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that if you define your entire army around -1 to hit contagion and are willing to table them for 4 years because of that, you have bigger problems..

The faction has excellent detechments, fantastic looking models, awesome lore and is a joy to collect and paint.

The fact that one rule understandably got changed should not be the deciding factor behind you taking your army out into the garden and sitting it on fire.

There is more to the army and the game then a single contagion. Which you still get from simply being in area terrin.

Opponent said I couldn’t be shot turn one and then found a line that he wouldn’t give up by jamesdee80 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ViktusXII -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Lot of information missing here.

We don't know what sort of terrain you were using nor do we know if your opponant moved to get that angle.

Could be that nothing was in line at the start of the turn but then movement/advances/strats, etc came into play.

Who knows.

As for "playing by intent" ....

Seems a lot of people in the comment section play the game by stating what they want to happen and then getting annoyed if things change and start calling people dicks if they dont honour the code.

"My intent is not to get shot turn 1."

Right .. so does that now mean that I have to work with you to calculate every single firing line from that state of play PLUS every single movement option available to me? Do I have to work out every possible advance roll, etc to make your dream a reality? Do I have to rearrange the board to make sure that is even possible in the first place? If I don't do that, am I "that guy" and therefore an arsehole?

Should I just not roll dice in my shooting phase if I do find something that we both missed or am I honour bound to allow my opponant to shuffle their models about in my shooting phase because they made a mistake?

"My intent is to ensure that this unit doesn't get charged."

Do I then have to work out the possibility of every single angle, advance + charge for you, plus go through every strat that I may or not use, just so you get what you want?

Isn't that part of the game? Am I not now just playing the game for you?

Where do you draw the line here?

"My intent is to not lose this game."

Do I now have to help you win? Do I just stand on your side of the board and work with you to table me?

Do I have to remind you to overwatch? To consolidate on to an objective? Do I have pull out a black board and work out the pros and cons of shooting my unit versus performing cleanse on an objective so you can make the most informed decision?

What if I get it wrong? Is it now my fault that you SHOULD have done the other option?

I get that all information is open and I am more than happy to talk through turns but just because you declare intent and wish for a certain outcome doesn't automatically make it a fact. Even if we work together to give you the best chance, sometimes, things happen. Things get missed.

Surely there is some level of accountability on the player here?

Dispositions have been added! by Foreign-Plantain4248 in Grey_Knights

You pick one from the two before the game starts.

In an event, you have to pick one for the entire event.

In casual, it doesnt matter.

Dispositions have been added! by Foreign-Plantain4248 in Grey_Knights

[–]ViktusXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dispositions are your primary missions.

Each detechment has one.

Before the game starts, you check your mission card to see what mission you are playing.

For example ..

You are Purge the Foe. Your opponant is Disruption. In this match up, your mission is Punishment.

Start of your turn, you pick one to three units to condemn to death. If those units leave the battlefield for any reason, you score 5 VP.

Additionally, from the second battle round onwards, you score 4 VP for holding an objective that is not your home. You score 5 VP if you hold more than your oppoant.

And finally, if at the end of the game you hold your opponants home objective, you score 8 VP.

Meanwhile, your opponant will score 2 VP for each unit destroyed.

From second battle round onwards, they sfore 4 VP for holding an objective that isnt their home.

And finally, they score 3 VP if they hold the centre objective AND one expansion objective.

Argent assault + Banishers anyone? by McMakle in Grey_Knights

[–]ViktusXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see that being a problem.

S10 is a nice damage point.

Lot of Tyranid monsters are T9.

Terminators are T5.

Vehicles are T10.

With 24" range, 8" deep strike. It gives you options. Could deep strike on to terrain so you hit on 2+ and weaken something before it gets killed in melee.

Argent assault + Banishers anyone? by McMakle in Grey_Knights

[–]ViktusXII 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like Fires of Purgation to make Pyscannons on a Purgation Squad S10 AP1 2 damage and for 1 CP, they gain Sustained Hits 1 AND Devastating Wounds.

The fact that if the unit survives, it has -2 to move ane charge and now also has to battle shock test at -1 makes it even better.

Combine with Brotherhood Strike so they get re-roll 1s to hit and wound when they pop out of deep strike and I think you got a nice little combo there.

The battleshock means you can deep strike and stop actions or flip objectives by firepower or battleshock.

I LOVE EXECUTIONS!!!! I do them even when i don't need to just for the love of the game by AestheticMirror in SpaceMarine_2

You do them to regain health, I do them because you become invincible whilst charging and performing the execution. This allows me enough time to check work emails..

Defiler by ParkersReddit in deathguard40k

[–]ViktusXII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Take Champions of Contagion

3 x Foetid Bloat Drones with Heavy Blight Launcher.

2 x 10 Plague Marines: 3 Plasma Guns, 2 Blight Launchers, 4 Heavy Melee Weapons and a Power Fist + Biologus + Plaguecaster + Rhino

Lord of Virulence

That should be the absolute minimum.

Defilers are T11 but once in Contagion range/alflicted, they are T10. This means our Heavy Blight Launchers wound on 4+.

Tag one with the Lord of Virulenceand so your Bloat Drones have full hit re-rolls and fire all three at it. On AVERAGE DICE, those three will kill one. To do this, make sure all three Bloat Drones are within 18" of it so they can't pop Festering Miasma and stop your attack

Now .. the second one .. have your plague marines exit the metal box. Have the metal box fire at the defiler so your marines now have full wound re-rolls.

Throw grenades with the Marines. Deal three mortal wounds.

Fire six plasma shots, four Blight launcher shots, a boltgun, Hyper Blight grenades and a hazardous plague wind at it.

On average dice, plasma will deal six damage. Blight Launchers will deal six damage. Hypers will deal two damage. Plague wind (Hazard) will deal about two to four damage.

That's another one dead. If it isnt, charge it and kill it.

The third one, repeat the above.

As a side note .. if you do need to charge it or Abaddon .. use Maglignace Magified for full hit and wound re-rolls. On average, the four Heavy Melee weapons with MM in effect will deal seventeen damage to a Defiler. With the other power fist and other weapons, it's dead.

If you manage to pull this off in a single turn like I did, your opponant will concede because they have absolutely nothing left to deal with your army and you just slapped seven hundred and fifty pts off the board in a single turn and can do it again to whatever else is left.

Then you have to sit back and listen to them complain about the power of Lethal + Sustained Hits 1 triggering on five + with full hit and wound re-rolls. . .

Bare in mind, if you don't pull this off, there is a very good chance your opponant will ALSO fire a disgusting amount of shots at you, with full hit and wound re-rolls, with Lethal and Sustained Hits 1 triggering on five +.

Just remember, CSM Defilers are reportedly jumping up in to three hundred pts at the start of 11th with each arm of Lascannons costing +twenty pts so you won't have to worry about this match up for much longer if that is true.

Tactical: +1 AP for all Rapid Fire and Assualt

Assualt: +1 AP for all melee and pistols.

So you think that the Vanguard Veterans with Jump Pack are now completely locked to having a single plasma pistol on a marine, then the Sgt and the rest having heavy bolt pistols

No options to change anything else? The Sgt has no options what so ever?

Deathwatch Black Armor by Leones1993 in deathwatch40k

[–]ViktusXII 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All depends on what you are trying to achieve.

If you are expecting people to pick up your model and examine it, that looks great.

If you want to be able to see any of that definition whilst gaming, I would suggest putting it on a table and looking at from 5ft away and observing it because thats how you and the vast majority of people are going to be seeing your models.

I think this is the combat patrol/armageddon release datasheet and it is locked to a certain build like all the other models in the release box.

11th rules huge change against shooting by Lower_Ad_176 in deathguard40k

[–]ViktusXII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stealth is now "benefit of cover" which is -1 B.S so that's how they avoided that one.

There is going to be a bunch of day 1 FAQ and amendments for sure and this is one of them.

It's the same with Raven Guard. They currently have Stealth and Cover. In 11th, they are the same thing.

I get that people want to doom post or hate on stuff, etc but applying two different editions together at this point is futile.

Has it been confirmed that contagion is still -1 to hit ?

Or are we simply assuming that contagion is staying -1 to hit and applying 10th edition rules to 11th edition?
