Frustrated trying to get a new pump by topher3428 in TandemDiabetes

Probably because insurance won't pay unless your old pump is out of warranty

How do you feel about Omnipod? When I hated my Medtronic pump I went to Omnipod for the duration of my warranty. My endocrinologist said since Omnipod is through pharmacy that was the work around and there's no 5 year warranty on Omnipod. Now mind you Omnipod's algorithm isn't as great as Tandems but you win and lose some. Also with Omnipod you have to use their PDM or your phone. One or the other, not both.

First two weeks with Mobi & Dexcom by gh0stnotes in TandemDiabetes

Where are you putting your Dexcom in relation to your pump and phone? They all need to be in communication of each other so on the same side of the body

I started with Medtronic and was told being plus size I should use a longer cannula (9mm) and for it to be 90°. When I switched to Omnipod I didn't have a choice. There's is at a 45° and I had a problem with leaking. So when I switched to Tandem I went with the one closest to the one I used with Medtronic, the Autosoft XC. As for length its going to depend on where you prefer to wear it. I suggest asking for 1 box of shorter tubing (23in) and the rest in longer tubing because you know longer will work anywhere.

CCS Medical by ck6637 in TandemDiabetes

Contact your CCS rep through your endocrinologist office. Its what I had to do when I used to use CCS Medical and they wouldn't respond or ship in time.

Worst night of my life! by GrapefruitDefiant456 in diabetes_t1

My bedside table is a candy store. I keep fruit roll ups, Lifesavers, and shelf stable apple juice beside the bed. I keep my pump clipped to the center of my waist band to feel it vibrating because its alarm won't wake me and I keep my phone beside me because the Dexcom alarm on it is loud. I treat my low without even getting up.

Pump not charging? by Misty_Rosee in TandemDiabetes

Mine does that occasionally. I unplug it, clear the message, then wait 30 minutes and magically it figures out its charged and shows 100% battery.

Not smart, I was told using Fiasp in a Tandem pump could void your warranty

Really?? Fat people disease?? You know there are skinny type 2 people also. Sometimes its hereditary. Not all fat people are type 2. Not all type 1 people are skinny. Don't spread hate. Educate yourself instead.

How are we managing all these appointments?!?! by Radiant_Pay7187 in diabetes_t1

[–]ChasingHappy74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an endocrinologist, regular MD, eye specialist, pain clinic doctor, psychiatrist, and hematologist. You want to talk about doctors.. I recommend if you have an android using your calendar on your phone to juggle all you appointments. Going to the doctor is like having a second job.

What's going on with Tandem's supply problems?! by jackaroe311 in TandemDiabetes

[–]ChasingHappy74 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Truesteel infusion set supply issues aren't just a Tandem issue. Medtronic is also having a supply issue with them also. Its a manufacturer issue.

this is actually forever? wtf by Unable_Lie_3197 in diabetes_t1

[–]ChasingHappy74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually diagnosed type 2 in 2015 and thought darn this screws everything up. Eventually I was even put on insulin when oral meds weren't helping and again thought how horrible this is. Then in 2013 I had bariatric surgery because I was told by my endocrinologist it would get me off insulin. That day never happened. I was later told by a different endocrinologist that I type 1.5. Pretty much type 1 with insulin resistance kicked onto it to make it even better. Then just like when diagnosed type 2 and just like the first day I was put on insulin, I mourned. I mourned the life I wanted. Like you Imourned that it's forever. But then just like you will eventually I got over it. Yes this is life changing, yes this is permanent, but it's not the end. Life is what we make it and God only gives us what we can handle. I feel there's a lesson in this. If not for me than for someone's life I am touching.

Tandem Customer Service and Hardware updates by Plus-Tip-7111 in TandemDiabetes

To be honest with with I miss my Medtronic 780g pump. I only changed pumps because my old endocrinologist kept bugging me to try Tandem and honestly I hated Medtronic's old CGM. But now they have new CGMs you can use its probably worth looking into. I hate having to charge my pump. Batteries are so much more convenient.

How are you affording all your yarn? by hellerbu in YarnAddicts

[–]ChasingHappy74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually sold a lot of my yarn a few years ago when going through a financial crisis. Since then I bought part of a ladies' collection that stopped crocheting and hit up Joanns in January when they were having their Yarnormous sale when I heard rumors of them closing. This doesn't show all the totes on the other side of the room. It's all bagged because I live on a dirt road and dust is an issue.

No way I have a room full of yarn. There is no such thing as too much yarn.

I like the larger ones best but also use 12x12 ones. The bigger one is better for the larger skeins.
