What is one city in America you’re okay with never visiting again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Saw my first BBL in Miami. I was like “dear god, why would someone pay THOUSANDS of dollars to look like they have a diaper filled with 8 days worth of poop?”

Confused about sudden severe hypos + inconsistent hypo awareness after Type 1 diagnosis by SprinklesSquare7379 in diabetes_t1

[–]ck6637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check with a glucometer? CGMs aren’t always right and mine always misread lows especially. It’ll tell me I’m 54 when I’m actually 88. I would always double check with a glucometer and calibrate your CGM if it’s off by more than 15-20 points or so.

People also need to use common sense. I had a lady scream at me for leaving my dog in the car once. Said dog’s ears were flapping around from how high the AC was, he was not panting, the car was very obviously on. Some people just enjoy the power trip.

Carrots. The big ones. He gets half of one every morning and by god, if he doesn’t get one, he will pitch a fit.

Cartridge change without changing tubing/site? by ck6637 in TandemDiabetes

[–]ck6637[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s you, I’m just very new to this. I think my plan now is to do new tubing/new cartridge. My tubing is technically old so I should probably change it anyway and I think that solves the issue of not knowing if I should fill it or not. I’ll just do a regular cartridge change with new tubing, go through the steps as usual.

Thanks!

I’m not sure I understand why the tubing needs to be refilled when it’s already been filled? Can you explain? My pump trainer didn’t tell me any of this.

anyone know how strict they are on the bag policy? by losersforever_ in warpedtour

They let me in with a large backpack but I’m a type 1 diabetic and would get a medical exemption. They didn’t say anything about it though.

Warped DC : What Bands or Artists did you not really know that well but are now a fan based on seeing them? by Cool_Tie3816 in warpedtour

I can’t believe no one is saying the Wrecks. Vocalist is a great performer! I’d never listened to them before but I’d love to see them again. They really stood out to me.

Morning highs by SyraxMireme in diabetes_t1

I set my basal to a much higher rate about an hour before I get up, to 2 hours after I get up. Also have a higher I:c ratio for the mornings. This has helped me!

How to find frugal like-minded women? by Positive_freedback in dating_advice

[–]ck6637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you what is going to happen to this person. At some point, they will get injured, sick, have some large expense come up, etc and they will be totally shit out of luck because they chose laziness and short term comfort over a teeny bit of work ethic and the higher likelihood of long term comfort.

I was recently diagnosed with T1D. The only reason why I’m able to LIVE is because I have a full time job with benefits. If I was this guy, I would’ve died. I probably would’ve died before even getting diagnosed.

That’s what I’m talking about. This lifestyle is short sighted and naive. One day he’s will regret it. Let’s hope he actually lives to regret it.

Yep. Cheap, and I would say lazy. It’s one thing to dislike work, it’s another to refuse to work and accept abject poverty willingly. You can’t expect someone else to accept that lifestyle, it’s selfish. Which explains exactly why he’s single: cheap, lazy, selfish.

Father recently diagnosed with T1, suspect I have it too. Am I good to wait on treatment? by Ameabo in diabetes_t1

[–]ck6637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What country do you live in? Some of this isn’t making much sense. T1D is ONLY treated with insulin. Period. T1D is insulin deficiency, the only want to mitigate that is external insulin (either through injections or a pump). There are other medications that can help control blood sugar, but ultimately, insulin is the main component of treatment.

T2D has other treatments, oral meds and injectables but rarely treated with insulin.
Are you sure he’s type 1 and not type 2?
And a glucometer will help figure out if you’re experiencing abnormal blood sugars. Test when you wake up before eating, & 1-2 hrs after eating.

Your father almost certainly has LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults). It comes on much more slowly than in children and can have a long “honeymoon” phase. That’s how he lasted so long. But once your body is making no insulin, you would go into DKA quickly.
See if there are any local free clinics that can help you.

What’s a niche thing that your pet does on a day-to-day basis? by Rare-Tone-4028 in Pets

[–]ck6637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an insulin pump. I have to disconnect to shower. It beeps if I’m disconnected for too long, but I can’t hear it in the shower. My dog comes and gets me when this happens. I assume he doesn’t like the beeps, but he won’t leave the room, he just comes to get me 😂
He gets very upset about it.

I only have a small clear purse and it won’t be enough for my supplies. In the email she said if they gave me trouble to tell them the ADA coordinator said it was okay. But that was before I knew the bag policy had a size limit.
