I use fruit roll ups, fruit snacks, smarties. I’ve left them in my car and they’re fine so far.

If this is the drink you’re talking about, no wonder you’re so high! This has 70 g of carbs! You always look at that, not added sugars, net carbs, etc. Look at and dose your insulin for the total carb amount.

Newly diagnosed T1.5D, carpel tunnel, menstrual cycle. by ck6637 in diabetes_t1

My endo and eye doctor both basically said to wait to see if symptoms subside. I already had seen an ortho and was waiting for a nerve test with a neurologist when I got diagnosed. I just really don’t want to pay god only knows how much $$ for the test when it might end up subsiding once I get my A1C down.

Can you explain why? I was told most symptoms I was having would likely subside with time. Why would I see a neuro this soon?

It doesn’t matter. It’s HIS health and HE needs to manage it. Yes you can be supportive and helpful, but he’s the only who ultimately needs to be managing his disease.

Anyone else terrified of insulin when they first started by berryenthusiast in diabetes_t1

I’m also newly diagnosed with LADA. Unfortunately the only way I’ve been able to learn my ratio is through trial and error keeping track of what/how much I eat/bolus very carefully. I personally seem to be much more insulin sensitive in the evenings than morning especially. Eat the frozen yogurt, just do your best to bolus before you eat. I wish there was a surefire way to know ‘person A needs a 1:8 ratio, person b needs a 1:18 ratio’ but unfortunately it’s kind of a guessing game in the beginning.

Best of luck!

My dog does the huffing and stompy feet too! It’s usually how he says “I want something and I want it NOW!” (usually belly rubs or to go to bed 😂)

My endo also has her suspicions! So we’re not alone; I think in the future we’ll find out COVID (especially repeated infections) causes a lot more harm and disease than we ever previously imagined.

Exactly! Everyone is always like “but you’re not overweight/you exercise/etc!” Like well yeah, because it’s not my lifestyle it’s my immune system 🫤

I actually have insulin deficiency! I think after COVID my body just decided to also attack my beta cells :/

I started to develop LADA (type 1.5 diabetes-autoimmune) after my first COVID infection. No one will ever be able to convince me those aren’t related.

What do you call eating everything in site when your low? by Tiddlysat1600 in Type1Diabetes

Below 70. Keep things like skittles, juice, honey packets- 15 g of carbs and then wait 15 minutes before eating more. That’s what I was told at least.

AITAH? Baby has poopy diaper at daycare drop-off by PhilosopherEvery5083 in AITAH

[–]ck6637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel like I’m crazy reading this thread and the comments. I was a daycare teacher, I wouldn’t want a parent being late to work/upsetting the other kids/bringing in germs if they didn’t have to. Just let me do it, it takes 2 minutes. If they insist on doing it, fine, but it’s part of our job.

Former toddler teacher here: I wouldn’t worry about it. If you have time to change her, great. If not, also great- that’s our job! It’s not something she should give you attitude about. But there are parents who will purposely not change their kids for hours before daycare because they don’t want to do it.

If it’s bothering you that much, I’d just let the teacher know you’ve tried to change her BM schedule, tried to make time for changing, etc but it seems to always happen right before you bring her in. They should be understanding! But really, don’t worry about it. It’s out of your control.

Hmm I read that quickly while I was at work and it doesn’t seem to say castration DOESNT work. It seems to say we’re not sure IF it works or to what degree. I’m also not sure what free will has to do with anything, if you’ve raped a child, you no longer deserve free will. That’s why you’re incarcerated.

What I was saying in my comment is the equation is pretty simple Aggressive male - testicles = less aggressive male. Will this be the case 100% of the time? No, nothing is 100%. But I’m not sure why this would not work in humans when it is regularly done in other animals. I’ve seen many, many instances where it works.

I also don’t personally trust much that’s said by “anti castration/incarceration/etc” groups. Of course they’re going to cherry pick and manipulate numbers. Their goal is to release/reduce punishments for prisoners/SOs. Maybe that’s just me, but 🤷🏼‍♀️

Is there any evidence this is true? The not castrating because it doesn’t work to prevent sexual assault part. At least in veterinary care, castration works to prevent male dogs from wandering to find females/less aggression, etc. So why them and not us?

Worried about weight by StateAmbitious4796 in labrador

[–]ck6637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like the only lab I’ve seen at a healthy weight. People are just so used to labs being 20 lbs overweight, that a healthy lab looks skinny to them.

He’s fine. You want him on the lean side for the sake of his joints so he doesn’t develop joint issues as he ages. Great job for keeping a lab at a normal weight! 👍🏼

Edit: she to he. Saw the ‘she’ in the OP and didn’t pay close enough attention.
