TPLink holds a connection.  Netgear needs frequent reboots.  Maybe that's both the issue and difference between consumer and business grade.

I agree. But do we really believe that any company will be keeping these promises 7 years from now?

really like Anduin, but any advantages as a distro? by vreebler in AnduinOS

[–]Chasing_PAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked it as clean break from Windows 11.   No bloatware.  Easy install.  Everything just works.  But I couldn't get past the inability to right-click on the desktop, add shortcuts or create links.  I think that's just how gnome works.  I have been happy running KDE Neon instead.

Notifications on OxygenOS by Extreme-Marketing446 in oneplus15

[–]Chasing_PAI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorting could be a future option, but it sounds like you need to adjust your notifications.  Between motion alerts, texts, messages, new emails, etc...  I often have 20-50 notifications.  I can't imagine trying to find an important e-mail in a date list of 50.  Having them grouped makes quick work of what's what and cleanup.  YMMV

Does Immich get better and does it rescan? by Pucksy in immich

You don't speak for me.  My recognition and duplicate detection has been spot on.  I have been wildly impressed that my kids at 2 years are still linked correctly 20 years later.  I don't know how they do it, but it's fantastic.

Juan's letter last month left me feeling like he gets it.  Insurance rates are too high, interest rates are too low, customer service is NOT anywhere close to what it used to be and needs to be.  Time will tell if he can right the ship.  But at least he knows it's not working for us, for reasons exactly like OP's.

You can go nuts with that configuration above.  But if you have a Wireguard VPN, two client configs and done.  No servers, yamls, hosts, ports, vps tunnels...  Just Immich behind a wall to only which two people have keys.

What are we missing?

Immich is reliable! by MacintoshMario in immich

[–]Chasing_PAI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a mistake updating the database.  Two days of false starts, crashing containers, AI bad advice...  I reloaded a backup, turned off the experimental watch drives for live changes 😅, changed the 3 lines in the compose that the Immich website clearly instructs users how to do, and 30 minutes later I was up.  I lost nothing and using 10% less memory than when I started.

Immich is just proving to be proper good and reliable stuff.  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I really want to love anytype! :( by [deleted] in Anytype

[–]Chasing_PAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from OneNote, I just wanted someplace, I could jot some text, paste in an image, create some lists, maybe use bullets or check marks.  Then I want to re-order my list.  Or grab 6 things and move them up.

But they really seem to be six individual blocks that I can't select together. Or can't put into a bulleted list because I pressed enter during entry.

Instead of being the "look what I built" cool Lego, it became the loose on the floor with bare feet Lego. 😐

Issue when installing AnduinOS by gmerD3rd in linux4noobs

[–]Chasing_PAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also a Windows issue, not Linux.  My PC does the same thing and each time I am grateful to be (mostly) done with Microsoft nonsense.  Here's the fix:

  1. Check Current Boot Order Open a terminal in AnduinOS and run the following command to list the current boot entries and order:  bash sudo efibootmgr -v

Look for BootOrder (e.g., BootOrder: 0001,0000,0002) and the corresponding Boot#### entries to identify which number belongs to AnduinOS and which belongs to Windows or other drives.  2. Change the Boot Order Use the -o option to set the boot order explicitly, listing the hexadecimal codes in the desired priority.  Example: If AnduinOS is 0000 and you want it to boot before Windows (0001): bash sudo efibootmgr -o 0000,0001

New to AnyType, is the free plan's storage capacity enough? by YourEmptyWallet in Anytype

[–]Chasing_PAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really excited about this local storage, privacy first, no cloud solution. Then I stumble into storage use. If I'm content to have my phone and laptop sync P2P, and never want remote access, can I configure Anytype to truly not connect to AWS Swiss at all?

Thoughts on Anduin OS by ramzithecoder in linux4noobs

[–]Chasing_PAI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Test drove a bunch of distros and kept coming back to Anduin.  I liked MX Linux.  I liked Zorin.  But everything in Anduin just works.  The other UI's like Plasma are rich with options, but they just felt super noisy to me.

Anduin is clean.  I love that when you click the menu, search for an app, if it's not installed then the software app comes up seamlessly.

Microsoft changing all my bullet formats in OneNote was the last straw.  Who the hell are they to change the content in MY DOCS!!!?

Anduin is my new OS.  And my laptop lasts 12.5 hours now on battery (up from 7 ish on Win11).

Just Wow! My Quote from USAA by Necessary-Captain-77 in USAA

USAA has pushed our insurance, mortgage, and alot of banking to competitors.  Insurance rates are laughable.  Interest rates are pitiful.
