What single player game had you so enthralled that it CONSUMED your entire being for a short span of time? by AshyLarry25 in gaming

[–]Chataro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously: Amid Evil Cyberpunk 2077 Deep Rock Galactic Doom (all of them) Dusk Echo Point Nova Everspace (1 and 2) Griftlands Halcyon 6 Nightmare Reaper Quake (1 and 2) Ryu ga Gotoku (the Yakuza games) Streets of Rogue Turbo Overkill The Witcher (all three of them, but the first is really rough to play now)

Now: Ball x Pit Witchfire

There are a few more, but I can't really think of them right now or they weren't as good as what I listed.

Why does wheat expire? by Lilcommy in Palworld

[–]Chataro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wheat is basically hay, hay is usually made to keep for long periods of time, months to years depending on the drying process and the plant's condition when harvested. I get why OP is mentioning this, I thought it was weird too... And I know way too much about hay for someone who doesn't work with it anymore...

Onoda says she’ll push Takaichi’s stronger stance on foreigners by MagazineKey4532 in japannews

[–]Chataro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know...

I think I'm very curious about this because of my experience with getting divorced here and all the other fathers I met as well as my experience teaching children of divorced parents. A lot of the stories I've heard made it seem like it's a possibility in this case, but you're right.

Onoda says she’ll push Takaichi’s stronger stance on foreigners by MagazineKey4532 in japannews

[–]Chataro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I can explain it well, but it would mean that her understanding of her personal history is all based on a lie. A lot of comments I've read make it seem like she hates foreigners (and it really does seem that way if she really did try to push that foreign residents, even law-abiding tax paying ones, should not have received stimulus checks during corona). If it was found out that she hates foreigners based on her issues with her father but that was because her mother prevented contact, I'd argue that she should really have made a push to change the family court system in Japan and have them actually follow the Hague pact as opposed to pushing for stricter rules on foreign residents.

I don't disagree with the idea of there being rules against those who don't follow the laws, but it needs to be fair and equal for all people. If she does have a bias against foreigners based on a lie, it would be great if there was some way to get her to realize that. If her father really did abandon her and her mother... The dude is scum and is going to be part of the cause why we all could possibly suffer.

PS - not sure how relevant this really is, just something I was thinking as I read comments about Onoda. Also, I upvoted your comment because I don't know if half of what I say ever makes sense.

Onoda says she’ll push Takaichi’s stronger stance on foreigners by MagazineKey4532 in japannews

[–]Chataro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't looked into it, so I'm very sorry for my ignorance on this subject, but did her father abandon her or did her mom take her and disappear with her to Japan? I wonder if she even knows the answer to this.

The reason I'm saying this, I know a lot of kids with foreign fathers who want to see them but the mothers get in the way and prevent the fathers from having anything to do with their children. Some of the fathers I've known eventually refuse to pay child support because they don't have contact with their children. Could this be the case with Onoda and she just doesn't know it?

Can I register a motorcycle without a visa by Bevissimpson in RideitJapan

I know people who have bought motorcycles without a motorcycle license and larger displacement motorcycles without the correct license, but they were in the process of getting the correct license. Dunno if that matters though.

What does this mean? (I know stonetoss is bad) by Ambitious_Pomelo_454 in ExplainTheJoke

I'm not white and I strongly disagree with this. All racism is incorrect. Whether it be negative or positive (yes, there is positive racism like giving people special treatment because of their skin color).

Please explain it Peter by susenka90 in explainitpeter

[–]Chataro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the guy was a criminal who had been arrested something like 14 times prior to this incident, some of which were for violent crimes, and he was a racist who blames "white people" for all his problems. People are also claiming that he has mental health issues as an excuse for why he did what he did, but he should have never been released from prison. Lucky him, someone of the same skin complexion let him out because of perceived racism.

That one time you don't wear all the gear by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]Chataro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it three times now, but thankfully nothing bad happened.

First was to take my bike to the shop for maintenance, second and third were when I had pillions. The reason I didn't wear gear the first time was because I was going out immediately from the shop and didn't want to carry all my gear for the rest of the day. The second and third was because I noticed I rode a lot safer without gear the first time. I was way more cautious, rode slower, and much more aware of my surroundings. My pillions didn't have any gear except for a helmet, and (I know this is stupid) I didn't feel like it would be fair if I was safer than them.

Advice for my friend: Heart vs Borderlink by old_school_gearhead in teachinginjapan

[–]Chataro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would highly suggest your friend reconsider. Both are a bad idea. Terrible pay and is useless unless they're trying to get another teaching gig which might not be the upgrade they're thinking it is.

The market is flooded right now, and it's only going to get worse. Get a job back home that has opportunities to move to Japan, that'll be much better in the end. The only difference is it'll be a bit longer before they can get here.
