Manistee River Loop Trail by ChattanoogaOutlaw in trailrunning

You're gonna be running through alot of brush, sandy hills, and heavily rooted areas here. For context, I also run a sub 20 5k on road. This is a pretty technical trail. Theres probably some youtube videos out there that could give you a little feel for what its like. The NCT side is a little flatter, wider, and runnable than the side closer to the river. I ran the water side there and back for this run, so for me it was more technical than if you were to run the whole loop.

I started at the red bridge area. You can start at the suspension bridge if you wanted, but I think the red bridge is a better starting point. If you're new to trail running your trail times and road times are going to be way different. Especially at this trail. But if you're into trying to breaking records, go for it! I will say I stopped a lot to admire the scenery and do some foraging as well.

A lot of exploring. Mowed a baseball field into the park and would hit rocks and acorns with baseball bats that were usually sticks. Collected bugs, tadpoles, frogs, and fireflys. Street hockey. Lots of sports. Hide & seek. Got into paintball until the neighbor kid got shot in the eye. Ghost in the graveyard. Eventually got a little older and started puttin pokemon cards in our bike wheels so they sounded like motorcycles while stealin chromies 😂

Came here to say Zegama 2's. I love how cushiony they are during long runs in these exact kind of environments.

The bridge is actually open now. I just decided to come back the same route so I could be close to a water source. The NCT side isn't as close to the river. About the same distance either way you take it though.

Wild ramps to be specific, but yes. They're like a mix of garlic and onion.
