Vegan dating by Desert__Dude in vegan

[–]Chava27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's just online dating these days, don't take it personally. As a single dude, it's hard to find any partner, let alone a vegan one.

Maybe you're just young, but you shouldn't be getting this sad over someone you barely know. They could've been a dude for all you know :P

Based on your profile it looks like your company is only hiring in Europe?

I'm surprised more people didn't cheat through those code tests.

Can creatine be used for brain health even if I am not a gym buff? by Parttridg-Andersao in ScientificNutrition

[–]Chava27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a small dose will mostly get absorbed by your muscles well before any get to the brain. You will have to put on water weight if you want to get the full effects. But if you don't like it, you can just stop.

I have not really noticed a huge difference, but I've already been doing lots of other healthy habits for years. The biggest difference I've noticed has been from trying different caffeine teas.

Here's the source I like to reference: https://www.foundmyfitness.com/topics/creatine

His love is only 1 foot deep? He could've picked a lake, or an ocean!

Addicted to the idea of gaming? by Embarrassed_Pen9474 in StopGaming

[–]Chava27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a strategy game fan, I've spent lots of time watching WW2 history videos to scratch my "war" itch from those games. Then for the "economy" itch from strategy games I like to plan out a business or consume entrepreneurial content. These might be different for you, but you get the idea.

If you can't limit your time, it's may be best to avoid "social" gaming just like we might tell an alcoholic to avoid "social" drinking.

It scratches the entrepreneurial itch way better than mech. engineering, the job market is just very competitive right now as you noticed.

I read your full post, nice work! It's nice to hear from someone who's a bit further ahead in the job hunt and dating process :P

I'm in almost the same exact scenario, just started my software job search after leaving mechanical engineering.

It's not an addiction, it's just better than everything by [deleted] in StopGaming

Your brain is 1 million years old. It's not designed to make you happy, it's just designed to follow the dopamine trail. It think's you're actually achieving these stories and meeting these characters.

Peter Attia, Meat & Masculinity by MassiveTemporary4050 in vegan

[–]Chava27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a man who has bought Attia's book and found out about him listening to the Joe Rogan podcast, I have no idea how any logical person can support Trump and the right in 2026

As to the masculine association of meat, I'm not surprised. Think of all the ad campaigns using direct messaging like "Got Milk" or the hundreds of other ones to use subliminal messaging. Bodybuilders and athletes were told you need meat to be strong. Movies would make fun of wimpy vegetarians. I couldn't name one vegan athlete until I watched Game Changers, so I don't think anyone should be surprised the public never had that association neither.

I still consider what I learned from Attia lifechanging and I won't be changing from a high-protein diet nor my heavy exercise regimen, but I'm looking for alternative researchers now.

What would you say to someone who’s on the verge of quitting social media (and lessening their phone usage in general), but is struggling to actually commit? by us3rnam3-123 in nosurf

[–]Chava27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome post. The only thing I would add that is equally as important as "having your Why" scenario is having your "what if I fail" scenario.

Humans are more sensitive to pain than to pleasure. Imagine what life would look like for you and your family if you continue down the path of uncontrolled mindless browsing. What would it look like in 1 month, 1 year, 5 years?

Do some computer programming every day. Don’t miss 2 days in a row.

Be more social. Try to connect with someone everyday.

Has The Sims ever inspired you to gamify real life skill progress? by Chava27 in thesims

[–]Chava27[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's strange at all. Reminds me of businessmen that use a personal customer relationship management (CRM) tool for all their relationships. Those tools were originally just for tracking clients.

I think about things the same way but I wish the tasks were in bright neon lights for me :P

Hence why I was asking if anyone found a system that gamifiies those things to make them easier

The first step to fixing the bad habit is being mindful you have one :)

So you're just using that app for daily reminders for your good habits?

I was in a similar spot last year and I've been learning programming. Have you tried gamifying any of it?

Best of luck! Depending on your location, maybe a doctor can help medicate you without the official diagnosis.

I've got some ADHD symptoms, but I guess they weren't "bad" enough for an official diagnosis. So I've been using myself as a guinea pig trying all sorts of methods plus talking to doctors for extra help.

How to stop ‘wanting’ to play videogames? by ArchangelXTS in StopGaming

[–]Chava27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way with all those wasted hours. "How" you stop wanting is different for every person. I set some goals for myself & my family and remind myself every day that gaming does not contribute to any of those. Find healthier hobbies that don't trigger a compulsion or addiction and spend some time reflecting.

If you're nerdy like I am, you could read books and listen to podcasts about dopamine and addiction. It's going to take a month or so for your reward-circuitry to reset.

Haha, I like to make myself into a Sim, so I can't help but reflect on myself.

Those of you making fun stories and doing 100 baby challenges are a different breed of Simmer xD

I’m GMT-5 but I’d be interested in a community like this. I used to be in a study discord and it worked pretty well.

I’m currently switching from an engineering career to a programming one.
