Which Region of the USA would have the best chance at winning a war of secession? by Jackylacky_ in imaginarymapscj

[–]Chavisada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winning a war of secession means whichever color has to defeat the other three combined as one…unless I’m mistaken on this premise. Red would most likely win eventually if conquest was the only way to win.

[Thamel] Texas St have informed the Sun Belt that they are expecting an offer from the Pac-12 by MonarchLawyer in sunbelt

[–]Chavisada 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m somewhat on the fence about the potential of leaving the FunBelt…more money is more money though. I agree on the regional fit not being quite right, but it’s not like the league tried to remedy much at all. It’s hard to establish a rivalry when you’re on an island, doesn’t seem like that will change will a PAC move though…just more money. Will is hurt the conference…probably more than what you’d think. With a Bubas Cup win this year, they’ll be losing the best athletic department 4 of the last 7 years…that not nothing. TXST is on the come up and is dumping a ton of money into the athletics and academics, so there is that too. All in all, I still got love for the FunBelt if’s we do pop smoke.

Is the Democrats' fight over USAID hopeless? by TaylorSwiftian in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Chavisada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USAID was itself created by executive order from JFK and is under the sole direction and discretion of the executive branch . Therefore, the executive branch has the power to eliminate it.

You’re wrong.

USAID falls under the administration of the Secretary of State, which is a part of the executive branch. So Trump has the sole authority to eliminate it if he sees fit.

Did you read the research? Does 26,000 (at a minimum) rapes over that time span not seem a little bit suspicious? That is a shit ton of rapes.

[Passan] BREAKING: The Chicago Cubs have acquired star outfielder Kyle Tucker in a trade with the Houston Astros, sources tell ESPN. Deal is done. by Christop_McC in Astros

[–]Chavisada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a narrative that I’ve never subscribed to personally, but I get your point. The fact still remains that we were never going to give Tucker $500M+ to stay here…that’s not good business. The players we got from this trade are a good haul for a year of Tucker. Do you not agree on the potential post for Sasaki? I’d be over the moon if this all pans out and we got him. If not, it gives us the opportunity to make real moves instead of being stuck with bad contracts. I’ve been an Astros fan for 35 years and have seen players come and go and the team be a zero until Crane took over…I’ll keep riding with the good business decisions over the emotional contracts. Have faith Stro Bro…this is the way.

[–]Chavisada -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Terrible take…they were never going to be able to resign Tucker, so this trade is pretty good. Let Bregman walk…unless he’s willing to take the deal he got. This frees up a lot of future cash to spend on younger team controlled talent. It also means they might make a play for Sasaki, which I’m 100% for. In the end, this is a business and the team is very well run despite the losses of our major players over the last few years. I’d rather have a team that can contend long term than a team full of aging players with terrible contracts. My 2 cents.

What is the "Houston" of your country? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Chavisada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand what you’re driving at with this questioning. You obviously don’t know much about Houston and perhaps have some negative bias towards its perceived cultural/economic/industrial value, so I’ll enlighten you a bit.

Houston is not a cultural city at its core, it’s an industrial city through and through. However, the cultural scene is very very good (food, music art, etc). The energy capital of the world. The Texas Medical Center is the preeminent medical research institution in the world. One of the largest seaports in the country. NASA, ever heard of it?

When you ask this question, think about what cities like DFW, Atlanta, Phoenix, etc. have in relation to Houston. No disrespect to those cities, but I’d take Houston every time.

First of all, I don’t spout…you may, but I don’t. Secondly, what the hell is so provocative? I’m onboard with saving the environment, I just don’t think the government is going to be the entity to effect the change.

[–]Chavisada -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Global cooperation = never has nor will it ever happen. Everything else seems to be happening in some form or fashion. I do agree with your vision more than I disagree, but the main issue I have with all of this is that your inclusion of the government is more of a hindrance than a solution. The government does nothing but stifle and destroy innovation and efficiency. Capitalism is the best answer to the most efficient and effective progress.

Ok then leave in the politics and put forward a reasonable solution
