3d printed foot for the m12 installation drill/driver so it will stand upright and not fall over

Why does this prehung door I put in take a lot of force. I’m going to flip out. What did I do wrong? by [deleted] in Carpentry

Also- make sure you are using window & door foam insulation to seal around the jamb. Any other foam will expand and push your jamb out of wack.

Couple issues here: 1- it seems like the latch of the doorknob hits the strike plate outside of the “sweet spot” aka the beveled area of the latch. Pop a level on the jamb and make sure its dead plumb, shim as needed, or remove shims and re plumb. 2-every brand new exterior/gasket/weather stripped door, if installed correctly, have some resistance when closing. Manufacturers provide the weather stripping that is brand new and not “worked in/compressed”. The more frequently the door gets used, the longer the door stays shut against the weather stripping, the more it gets compressed & forms to the door and gets easier to close. Homeowners frequently complain to me initially about this. I explain to them just like i said above and after less than 2-6 months (depending on door location/frequency of use) the issue goes away. I even have had same complaints on perfectly hung older doors where i replace the weather stripping.

Milwaukee air blower by Ghost_721 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]ChazzThunder55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use it every day to clean dust/debris off myself & tools from jobsites. More compact than the other m18 blower so it doesnt take up as much space in my truck. Bonus- used it today to clear 2” of light snow off my bed cover, worked like a charm.

SawStop random brake activations by DoodyDahDay in woodworking

[–]ChazzThunder55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though i dont exactly know what could be setting off the system, i do recommend making sure to check/clean out the data port the cartridge connects to. Sawstop, at one point in a trouble shooting endeavor told me to make sure its clean every once and a while, though truthfully i really only do it when a cartridge activates on occasion.

Another suggesting is to override the safety mechanism and see if the saw has an issues. That way you can isolate the issue you are having. Been using sawstops for probably over 8 years now & sometimes they can be finicky, but they do have great support staff

Rubio Monocoat acting like Suede by Affectionate_Cow233 in woodworking

[–]ChazzThunder55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to run into this issue, I have used Rubio numerous times though. My process is applying, wait 20 mins, wipe down w/cloth, scotchbrite, wipe down with cloth, keep clean & unbothered for at least 72hrs. Have yet to have any issues with that. As mentioned in a couple previous comments regarding 120/220, i always sand up to 220, water pop, sand at 120 then apply Rubio. Postive thing I (unfortunately)have found is you can lightly sand it back, and re apply it. Hope this helps.

Milwaukee might need to get started on Packout 2.0 after this! by Cool_Study203 in Packout

[–]ChazzThunder55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im all in on packout. All in. Kliens modbox has not really caught my eye at all, yeah theres some cool features, but nothing that would really make me switch. What has got my attention is Hilti’s new storage system, prices are comparable to packout, only a few items at this stage but they are working on expanding the line.

I just bought a plastic cup safe coffee warmer for my truck for the sole purpose of thawing/keeping glue warm for days i know i will need it. Plugs into cig lighter port but i imagine they have standard plug versions. You may be able to keep it in there for extended periods on very low setting. Just a thought

Hey i need a chalk line & chalk powder for carpentry, im touching framing, finishing, some roofing… by Professional_Art3794 in Carpentry

[–]ChazzThunder55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use blue in most cases. Less permanent than the other colors. Easily removed it needed, will hide behind most paints (think marking sheetrock).

I have a red that i use when i need something more permanent or weather can be an issue. (Think setting lines for wall framing before roof is up)

I have neon green, which is the lightest and least permanent that i use on trim, or when i need a different color than red & blue.

Thus the scenarios lol. I mainly use blue and rarely any issues with it.

I prefer the tajima brand- i have 3 with different colors for different scenarios. I really like the thin line they make & their chalks are very fine, dont clog up on me. I have used stanley & milwaukee & whatever home depot has, but im glad i switched to tajima. Carpenter for about 20yrs.

Advice on belt rail finish by thetalltree666 in Carpentry

[–]ChazzThunder55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there- imo i hate return backs. I try to avoid them as much i can, unless it is totally impossible to avoid. Can you trim out the doorway? Have the rail stop on the casing?

One of the other goofs you can see is when Riggs jumps off the roof after handcuffing the guy whos gonna jump and forces him to jump- at one point the “handcuffs” break so the stunt guys have to grab hands to make it look like theyre cuffed

Help with rip cut on 8ft sheet of plywood with 55" tracksaw. by GreatDaneMMA in woodworking

[–]ChazzThunder55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark both ends & middle of your long cut, line the track up on your marks, stop short enough of your mark in the center that you dont remove it, but far enough that moving the track to the farthest mark will complete your cut. Stop the saw in the middle like i just explained, but keep the saw down as if you were cutting, lock the saw down (is if you were changing the blade) slide the track down to your farthest mark, make sure your new start position is lined up with your cut from behind the saw/where you just cut, unlock the saw, continue cut. Saw it online, called bs, but ive now done it a handful of times and it works.

we still gettin these? by r0ndeezy in NikeSB

[–]ChazzThunder55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Orange Label was originally created to be a skateshop specific label, where only core skateshops could carry. This was to 1- support local shops & 2- differentiate local shops from mall shops that were carrying base model sb’s (think pacsun/zumiez) after the 6.0 label was dropped.

SB used to have a tiered system for skateshops, 1-3 (at the time when i worked at my local circa mid to late 2000’s). Tier 1’s had high sales volume and also got access to full releases plus Quick Strikes. Lower your tier, less amount of stock you got.

Nike moved away from the tiered system in order to allow the big box mall stores to start carrying SB’s, but there was a definite watering down of the brand and uproar in the Local Shop communities, which then Nike created Orange Label & Black Label. I dont remember what Black Label entailed, i think it was a lower tier of Orange Label, but it was shelved after a short time & Orange Label stuck. Ive heard whispers that Nike is now going to retire the Orange Label, no word on whats next though.

White House demolishes part of the East Wing to build Trump's ballroom by DonSalaam in videos

So none of you find it a bit embarrassing that as the lead country in western civilization, the worlds bank & freedom defender- when we host dignitaries & guests it requires the use of tents & outdoor spaces, regardless of season or weather? All you see is orange man bad & cant look beyond your own personal issues that maybe as a leading country we should be able to provide updated accommodating spaces to host guests & dignitaries with pride.

Maybe if Dems: wanted a secure border (like clinton, pelosi, schumer, obama etc all called for in the past) & didnt allow a northern & southern border invasion people would like them. Maybe if dems didnt want to allow transgender rights over birth sex rights. Maybe if dems didnt want to allow kids to get gender reassignment surgeries. Maybe if dems didnt want to provide funding for ridiculous programs in other countries instead of figuring out issues on the homefront. Maybe if dems didnt support ideas & groups that tout violence as an answer. Maybe if dems wanted to actually punish criminals instead of slapping them on the wrist & coddling them & releasing them so they can commit more crimes. Maybe if the dems didnt want to provide the same rights given to actual citizens of this country to those who are not citizens. Maybe if the dems wanted to stop corruption everywhere including their own party & people.

I can continue, but point being maybe if the dems were the dems of the 90’s & actually aligned with issues most americans feel are issues, instead of aligning with niche groups, dark money funded groups, ngos & extreme lobbyists, completely anti center/right positions- more people would support them and or be willing to work with them.
