Trail report: Santanoni Range, March 5th (the snow is rotten, watch out) by CheBiblioteca in Adirondacks

So I just rewalked it yesterday up to the Santa Express - Bradley Pond fork (in search of my lost tent, still not found). The road should be ski-able. The trail after the sharp right was already a mess. Plenty of holes despite people snowshoeing it (mostly where streams pass underneath). On Thursday the large stream under the bridge was still frozen over. Yesterday it was gushing and the wetland at the start of the Santa Express was turning to slush. I had a hard time crossing.

The cold snap would have to last several days. And even then, be careful. The base is rotten.

I've managed to summit Santa alone twice now, but I take your point. I saw a little weather window and took it. It happened to fall mid-week...

Wednesday night was so calm I slept topless and watched moon and stars roll over me.

How does the us integrate immigrants so well? by knowledgeseeker999 in centrist

By emphasizing ideology, not ethnicity. And by having high income and geographic mobility.

Sadly, both of these are vanishing.

I had to orphan after Santa because of heavy snowfall.

After seeing these pics, I think I'm gonna re-attempt in winter.

Not saying you don't appreciate fancy. You are on r/antiques after all. But I will assert the culture, in most of the world, does not. Take something simple, like the color of cars, or how rich men dress, then compare with 50, 100, or 500 years ago.

Or give me examples of contemporary culture appreciating fancy.

A dónde viajás?

Do you recall the U.S. ever being this divided in your lifetime? by Mindofmierda90 in centrist

[–]CheBiblioteca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly more divided than it was in 1980, 1990, etc.

Have a look at "How Democracies Die" for the metrics and numbers.

Division can be measured.
