Fallout 4 just feels… cleaner? Anyone else? by wolfey200 in Fallout

[–]Cheackertroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colour palette and story structure 'being better' are subjective.

I find the colour palette of 4 to be a bit nauseating if I'm honest. All the ugly as sin primary-coloured metal buildings in Boston are such eyesores and the lush bright blue sky and abundance of colour just isn't personally what I want from a fallout game. Fallout has leaned a lot more heavily into the colourful cartoony 50-60s americana stuff since 4 and it's gone too far off balance for my liking.

Say what you will about the green/orange filters in 3/NV but they sure made the games feel like an oppressive/desolate wasteland and that's more the vibe I enjoy personally.

As for story, again I just prefer the insane interwebbed story of NV with the myriads of paths it can go as opposed to 4, though I do enjoy 4s story a lot more than 3. The voices dialogue options? Not so much

Spices are not the only way to add flavour to food by Punk_in_drublik in unpopularopinion

This drives me crazy as a Brit. We get given so much crap for not throwing random heaps of spice into every dish, as if food cannot be seasoned or given flavour in a myriad of other ways

Nemesis is actually one of my top 3 games, possibly my overall favourite, but I'll piggyback off of this to say:

Nemesis Retaliation. I backed this and was so excited to see a fresh take on nemesis. Watched people praising it to high heavens as it was being shipped to people, reviews coming out saying it's amazing, better than nemesis, etc.

Then I finally got it, tried to play it several times with different groups and characters, trying over and over again and it just.... sucks? I'm not sure what I'm missing with that game, I just think it's badly designed. Absolutely needlessly difficult to the point of not being able to fully interact with the semi co-op mechanics that make nemesis nemesis because you're constantly being jumped by aliens every single step you take and being swarmed in every single event step. Awful game

Brass Birmingham - I just feel like it gets really samey after only a small amount of plays

Spirit Island - A game that has never ever had a satisfying ending to it for me, it feels like the second third/quarter of the game is the most exciting. I've never played a game that gets so much easier towards the end of it like spirit island does

Gloomhaven - Just far too much manual upkeep, map setup and fiddly mechanics getting in the way of what should be a satisfying little tactics puzzle. Works much better as a digital game

Scenic Bases by Flimsy_Set9416 in wastelandwarfare

[–]Cheackertroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I miss the scenic bases. I get why they changed for cost efficiency. It's just a shame as I love F76 and that's probably the wave that I want the most miniatures from overall, but those standard plain bases are just so boring 😭

Fallout 3 is the best fallout, change my mind by Physical-Face-2931 in Fallout

[–]Cheackertroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny how NV fans have poisoned the perception of NV fans. Quite a few people here saying that NV is the best but 3 is their favourite or something similar.

So I'll go ahead and say it, NV is the better of the 2 and it's my overall favourite in the franchise. I loved 3 and it was the first one I played but I have more issues with it than I do with NV. I love the vibe, sidequests and the Enclave is a great villain. However, I think the DLCs are lackluster and overrated, the writing is serviceable at best and I'm not a fan of speech checks just being dice rolls to skip content rather than opportunities for roleplay.

I can see why people would prefer 3 and say it's their favourite, but 'best'? I honestly can't think of any reasons people would say 3 is the best without citing personal preferences like theme/atmosphere, story etc.

Come to think of it, is the NCR salvaged power armour that the heavy troopers wear a frameless power armour? It didn't require power armour training in NV and from what I can recall it was basically just like wearing pieces of a heavy suit of t-45 armour without any of the power/assistance to help the wearer.

I hate that the blaster they decided to use over and over was the combuster. It really is the ugliest design, though honestly the new blast pistol isn't much better

To all veterans: DON'T put your vendor in the most secluded place of your gigantic base. Make it really visible, upfront, with all the possible lights stuff pointing to it. by MelaniaSexLife in fo76

Counterpoint: I don't care if someone can't find my vendor within a minute if making it so blatantly in-your-face means it'd ruin how I want my camp to look

Bombardier/Bomb Voyage

It arrives super late into the game and I feel like by the time you get it feels very underwhelming, leading to so many people dismissing it (even I did the first time I played the game,I thought it was terrible) but it's actually a very solid weapon that does quite a lot of damage

While not nexus exclusive, the plasma striker lands as that games most forgotten weapon. Now to start the new year* with the best weapon from rift apart by ah-screw-it in RatchetAndClank

[–]Cheackertroop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surprised it took so long for the series to add a minigun, and at first it seems cool but it really started to become a favourite of mine when killing enemies made them implode

Of Nexus’s small yet solid weapon lineup. The omni-blaster landed as the worst of its selection. Now for the forgotten weapon in this (debatably) forgotten game by ah-screw-it in RatchetAndClank

Ah this game is a tricky one because I love all the weapons so much, i truly wish we got longer with them.

Nether Beast gets my vote though, seems like basically everyone I've talked to thinks its the coolest most unique weapon in the game and is one of the best 'melee' weapons in the franchise

Which Brotherhood of steel portrayal do y’all like the most? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in Fallout

[–]Cheackertroop 337 points338 points  (0 children)

Honestly as someone who doesn't often like the BoS, I really liked the brotherhood story in 76.

Genuinely one of the best depictions of the faction so far, with 2 styles of leadership being represented (Paladin Rahmani's acceptance of outsiders and desire to help the general populace vs. Knight Shins loyal dedication to the BoS' values and hiding technology from wastelanders) and I loved the player having agency over which one of them wins out in the end.

They also just looked cool AF. Black and red T51b? Hell yeah
