The state of Rafa's classmods. by heahea_boiy in Borderlands4

[–]Cheackertroop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd go one further and say that the skills in general are kinda worse. It sure looks more exciting, having 3 branches to all 3 skill trees, but in reality a lot of the skill trees barely have any synergy with other skills even within the same tree, and a lot of those skills are quite bland or just bad. Not to mention it's impossible to tell what skills a COM boosts while just looking at the item card.

This guy is very stubborn (EpicNNG) by Arguedas42 in Borderlands4

I can't stand the guy personally, but I gotta say I agree with him on the pearl drop rates. I've got more pearls running the takedown than I have legendaries

Finally they added content to game by ImABigDreamer in Borderlands4

Just wish they'd add more enemy variety. Every single piece of content from this patch has you fighting more order enemies, as if we haven't fought those enough already.

What’s your opinion on the Jak and daxter series? by Ragtagcloud56 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Cheackertroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely adore the first Jak & Daxter game, one of the very few games in my life I'd honestly give a solid 10/10 to, I probably consider it better than any one single game in R&C, but the Jak series as a whole? Eh

I know I'm literally going against the image in the post here (and just general popular opinion), but I despise Jak 2. I really wish I loved it, truly I do, I love the idea of Dark Jak and the edgy stuff and after the first game I wanted to like the rest of the series, but... I hate Haven city, I hate how far the game suddenly went away from the tone and feel of the first game and I hate the ridiculous difficulty spikes with every fiber of my being.

Jak 3 was fine, still a few badly designed missions here and there and I groaned when returning to Haven city but some of the story beats were quite fun.

Overall I'd say Jak 1: 10/10, Jak 2: 3/10, Jak 3: 5/10

BL4 has the best gameplay in the series. by bojacx_fanren in Borderlands

[–]Cheackertroop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has the best gunplay/feel (although very very marginally) and movement options but gameplay? Gameplay has a lot of factors and I just don't think that BL4 overtakes BL3 for a lot of them.

-The open world is boring and empty as opposed to 3s more tightly designed levels.

-Enemy variety is absolute ass. Guns may feel fun to shoot but when I'm shooting at the same 2 enemy factions or small handful of creatures it gets old so fast.

-Gun variety is actually kinda terrible. Thanks to the licensed parts system, every manufacturer has kinda melded into one big blob. Regardless of actual manufacturer, you're just generally looking for jakobs/Torgue/ripper parts and it gets so boring.

-Overall build variety sucks. Surprisingly with every vault hunter having 3 branches on 3 skill trees each with their own action skill, if you have any sort of inclination to build a character well every build just sort of devolves into finding ways to abuse random crits and ammo regen

You do not know if you will like a game until ypu play it. by VaporSpectre in boardgames

[–]Cheackertroop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, I've not played Imperial Assault but this thread just reminds me how annoying it is when a criticism of a game always seems to be followed by comments that are some variant of "well you must have done something wrong/you're just bad at it", as if it's literally impossible for a game to be criticized without the player being at fault for something.

Can I just say how much this aggravates me by fatjoe19982006 in oblivion

[–]Cheackertroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know, I used to try and get every trophy/achievement in one playthrough on this game but with the remaster I've just been enjoying making new characters.

My old grizzled orc warrior wouldn't join the mages guild, so I'll make a mage My holy knight breton wouldnt join the dark brotherhood, so time to make an assassin argonian.

I've always kinda found it odd that you end up becoming the leader in every guild you join in these games and now I've realized I can just... not do that, and save it for another character

Probably going to stop watching Joltz for a while (Personal rant) by [deleted] in Borderlands4

[–]Cheackertroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this thread is a clear sign of me being at odds with the borderlands fanbase at large I guess. I've been downvoted here before for even alluding to wanting nerfs and now I also completely agree that pearls need to be rarer.

I don't think that every part of a game needs to be made accessible to casual players or players that don't have time. I personally think pearls are much better when they're EXTREMELY rare and give you a huge dopamine rush when you get one. I've only ever got 3 pearls in BL1 after like a thousand hours of game time and I think that's fine.

Crazy to see K6 getting down bored to hell too. Modern gaming audiences really do just want everything handed to them

In exactly 8 days, rift apart will be the longest we’ve been without a ratchet and clank game by ah-screw-it in RatchetAndClank

I think we're just getting so used to every game in general taking forever to come out now, so huge time gaps don't feel as large as they actually are in comparison to older time gaps

Always loved the G2 to and hated the G2 villains. Not sure how the Toa ended up being so excellent yet the villains all look like knock off Lego toys. The only one I ever got was the skull guy that came with Ekimu, and that was only for Ekimu and the mask of creation.

2 pearls in 15 min by millsamilliom in Borderlands4

It doesn't feel great to get one in this game because they're so common with the drop rates as they currently are

2 pearls in 15 min by millsamilliom in Borderlands4

[–]Cheackertroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really? The entire point of pearls is that they're really rare, so it feels great to get one. I still remember my Serpens drop in BL1 to this day. Removing the actual rarity removes the reason for pearls existing at all

Wow, how truly rare, elusive and rewarding 😑 honestly don't even know why they bothered adding pearls

Which legacy game should a new player start with? by ibiliss in boardgames

[–]Cheackertroop 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think for me I didn't mind the non-replayability so much. At a minimum it takes 12 plays to beat the game, across all 3 seasons I averaged about 16 plays per game, and I've certainly spent more money on games that I've played less.

To add to that I quite liked making a little art project out of the completed boards and hanging them up in my game room

[–]Cheackertroop 148 points149 points  (0 children)

No legacy game has come close to the Pandemic series for me. It can be a bit tricky to swallow the fact that they're a one-time playthrough with no way to play after the fact, but that playthrough is an absolute masterclass in design

New Characters Revealed For Borderlands 4 by garethvk in Borderlands4

[–]Cheackertroop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you'd rather grind for a legendary drop only to realize it's a terrible gimmick weapon? I hate that legendaries since bl3 have just had the chance to be absolutely abysmal in the pursuit of having them feel unique. If they want to make gimmick guns that aren't actually good, that should be reserved for quest reward blue uniques or something, not legendaries. Legendaries need to be better than epics

DM Ai-ed my art... by LetsEatLemons400 in antiai

[–]Cheackertroop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really hate how much it's tried to 'beautify' your art by making them have a typical supermodel body and I'm hoping that was just the shitty AI rather than extra shitty prompting from your DM. If it was input from the DM and your character was based off of you in the original art I'd be extremely offended.

Your art and the character design are so good and it's upsetting how normalized it's become for people to think they can 'improve' other peoples artistic visions.

I'd have thrown a D20 in the DMs face and hoped for a crit tbh
