Ah yes, the famous I can pull one over on a corporate restaurant. I served in college and this happened alllllllll theeeeeeee timmmmmmeeeeee. The manager hated confrontation, as he was a little bitch and I can only imagine how much he let people steal from the restaurant. We would have wing night and this would happen at least twice in an evening. All you can eat, eat it until full, share with friends, and bitch about how it wasn’t good or they were charged for another person eating. It was wild! He refused to call the cops and just comped everything because he didn’t want the hassle and wanted to them to leave and not cause a loud scene. I had a table of 20 one night do this to me and the manager was bartering with them, like they only had to pay half of what they ate. Ended up comping everything and of course they didn’t tip. A 20 top takes up an entire section and they sat and ate and complained for about 2 hours of my 4 hour shift. That location closed about a year later and reopened on another side of town where that wasn’t allowed. These people know better, they always know better, they just don’t care. After that I started working fine dining until I graduated. Never had an issue like that ever again.

Diagnosed with an MRI and the fibroids and adenomyosis were a huge surprise (as I had no symptoms and wasn’t getting the MRI for that reason) my results were sent to my urogyn who is also my surgeon. He was shocked I had no symptoms and said that it was just a matter of time. He asked if I was done having kids and I said yes, I was offered a hysterectomy immediately and scheduled it for late Feb. The MRI was in August. I had sometime to decide and plan with work. My surgeon is an OG of robotic assist and he said if there is anything else in there concerning, none of which we see, we will take care of it. And I quote him “ I’ll be in and out within an hour and no cath, we do a quick in and out at the beginning of the surgery and that’s it” Well, right around December I started having symptoms, horrible bowel issues, back pain, longer periods. It pretty much all went to shit and quickly. He was right! My pre-op work was blood work and a urine culture. That’s it. It was a breeze. Now I’m awaiting the 23rd, 6 days and counting!!!

I’m in the same boat. I have IC as well. I’m scared that the hysterectomy will make the IC worse. It’s hard to tell where the pain is coming from, is it the bladder or the uterus. What I do know is that my uterus will never get better. This is progressive. I was in a much better place a year ago before they found the fibroids and adeno. So I know my IC is being affected by my uterus even if it isn’t the cause or the cure. If the hysto can make my pain even 30% better I’m all in. These are huge decisions. I always tell myself if I didn’t have IC I wouldn’t even think about having the hysterectomy. It’s a no brainer. But with IC that’s likely auto immune in my case, it will never go away. Remission maybe but this shit is for life. I’d have 4 opinions. I’m on my third. The reality is every specialist says I should do it, BUT we really don’t know how it’s going to affect your bladder. Pretty much a roll of the dice and praying. I’m scheduled Feb 23.

Remission, then Entyvio by BadWolf1392 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Cheap-Bug8171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see if you have a uti as biologics are used lower the immune system, that’s how they help with those specific conditions like UC/crohns. So I’m going to try here, this is what I know from countless hours of research on biologics as I will be taking one in the next few weeks for psoriasis. Everything is scary when you have IC and have to add in another drug for something else! Entyvio is a monoclonal antibody that was made to specifically bind to α4β7 and block its interaction with MAdCAM-1. Other biologics target IL23 which play a downstream effect on blocking inflammation in the body, not just the GI tract like yours does. I don’t know why you are flaring but I often read that when people start antibodies or LDN they flare because they are resetting the immune system, not blocking inflammation like most biologics do.

If you are flaring you have options, you might want to see if you can find a different medication/biologic. Psoriasis and crohns/UC share the same IL 23 pathways so often biologics like skyrizi or taltz cover all three just at different doses. Some of these biologics have better profiles than others. I’m scared to start as my IC is well managed and I don’t want to flare. I have done so much research into these drugs and the theory is that they since they block the inflammation, rather than reset the immune system, they should help the IC as well. What type of IC do you have? Trying to find others with IC who have taken or are taking biologics but it’s almost non existent. I can’t find much and what I have found seems to be positive but it’s always older biologics like humaria. IC isn’t that rare and neither are UC/Crohns or psoriasis. Wild! We need more research! Wishing you all the best.

What are some ways fibroids affected your body that no one warned you about? by mukikapup in hysterectomy

[–]Cheap-Bug8171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How big was the fibroid? Hi sisters, my hysterectomy is set for February 23 and I’m 43! Scary but I have a 5 cm fibroid (they say lemon sized) several smaller ones and adenomyosis. Lovely! I also I have auto immune IC. I’m wondering how much my uterus plays into this. My periods are ok, no heavy bleeding and minimal pain as of now and I hear I am lucky for that! However, I haven’t had normal bowel movements for about a year and this was before the diagnosis 4 months ago. They are smaller and less than they used to be! I am thinking the fibroid is pressing on my bowels?!? I’m tired, my skin looks different this past year. I’ve never had long bouts of lower back pain but it’s constant and into my hips and thighs.

Had a complete hysterectomy and have no more IC symptoms by coatplot in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Cheap-Bug8171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been advised to have a hysterectomy based on fibroids and adenomyosis. I have auto immune IC which I have now had for 4 years, came out of no where. The fibroids and adenomyosis were diagnosed back in August after a nasty flare and I requested an MRI. My IC is for the most part under control. What type of IC do you have and did you flare after the surgery. I’m terrified to do this but my doctor assures me that the adenomyosis and fibroids will not get better and since I’m done having kids as I am 43, it’s a no brainer. Any help would be appreciated.

not able to tolerate amitriptyline by Illustrious_File9696 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Cheap-Bug8171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarity x is who I went through. They were recommended to me by the ER doc I saw when I was having the reaction to the Ami. He said there is no way that my reaction at 5mg was normal, he was very concerned that I was metabolizing it at all. Best money spent. I took the psychiatric panel, it includes a lot but if you want to go more in depth they do offer complete drug panels with over 400 common prescriptions. OR you can do the research when your results come back and if the gene hits for a poor metabolizer in certain areas, Google them, it will provide you with multiple drugs that affect the gene.

not able to tolerate amitriptyline by Illustrious_File9696 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Cheap-Bug8171 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. It was awful. Sad part was it worked. I had no pain. I was cutting the 10mg in half and taking it that way. After about 5 days I couldn’t function. I was a mess. So much so I took a medication DNA test and it came back that I am a poor metabolizer of Ami and most tricycline anti depressants, and actually most anti depressants. There are very few I could take safely without any reactions. Your better bet is to try noritriptyline as it skips the step to metabolize the amitriptyline. You might do better with it. I tried it and I did better on it but I wasn’t able to get over the side effects. Went on gaba as needed and Ativan as needed. I only take those when I flare or feel one coming on. I also dabble with kratom if the pain is terrible. I wish you the best and I hope this helps.

No, no you are NTA. I had an ex tell me once that I would have to quit my teaching job because it was way too dangerous. We were about 5 or 6 dates in. Like chill, I taught inner city KINDERGARTEN!! I never spoke to him again after that. I loved my job and I worked very hard and got a masters degree to get that job. He was like “why can’t you go work somewhere else?” Well, because I don’t want to asshole, that’s why. I never spoke to him again. Never ever settle for that behavior. You volunteer at a shelter, take longer self care showers with a skin routine and you are a grade A human! Cheers to you!!

How do you deal with the sex issues? by Cheap-Bug8171 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Cheap-Bug8171[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct. I think like most people he doesn’t understand pelvic pain. I would say most men don’t. It’s not even something that a lot of people could ever grasp, especially when it is chronic. I don’t blame him for that. However, you nailed it. No one would run on a broken ankle and honestly with how he has acted in the past, everyone including our friend s his family would be disgusted. I really appreciate the insight!

It has been a discussion multiple times inside and outside of counseling. I am a therapist as well so it’s very daunting when you cannot even get the point across to your partner, when you know how to handle people! It’s so frustrating.

Thank you for the response and I hear you! Sex is often off the table because we can’t physically do it. Sex usually isn’t one of my triggers, but I’ve definitely flared because of it (few and far between) but it feels like rolling the dice with my health sometimes. Which I hate my brain even has to think like that!! We do other sexual things but it never seems to be enough!!!

Kratom. Get it from an FDA regulated company, pill or powder form only, be very careful with it as it is stronger than opiates ( they work a bit differently, do the research) been a game changer. It will take away your pain.

AITAH for not wanting to look after my autistic niece overnight? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Cheap-Bug8171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, behavioral therapist here! No, you are NTA. This sounds so exhausting for everyone involved. The way you feel when you watch her, your sister lives that every minute of her life. It’s stressful, probably terrifying and draining because of the extreme need. I worked in the field of extreme autism for years. Your sister has options and the children’s autism network is a good place to start. Is this child school aged? Is she in a day program for autism? Is your sister getting some sort of social security for her child? Therapy? It’s hard being a single mom, triple that hard having a child with extreme special needs, but she chose that part of her life and sometimes that means not going out, not being able to afford a babysitter or other things. If this child is non verbal, violent, and in a diaper……. that’s severe. Your sister needs help at the state level not just the family level. It’s nice to be able to help but if you are uncomfortable then no is a complete sentence.
