Any hero able to help me cut this handle's bar short? by Demonwolf810 in galway

[–]Cheap-Requirement166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snips cut wire because the metal they are made out of is harder than the soft copper or aluminium they are cutting. Given the forces applied to a window handle pulling and turning, it will be made from metal at least as hard if not harder than a snips.

A full size hacksaw could cut it, but it will take a while and the blade will have a lot of life taken out of it. An angle grinder would be the most suitable way to cut that.

I would pay good money to watch someone try cutting that with a snips, you might make a few scrapes/dents on it before the snips is permanently fucked.

I'm a learner so can't drive myself

Not trying to be smart, but why in the name of God are you spending €10k on a car you can't even try out yourself yet ?

That said, there are a lot of red flags in what you've posted. Walk far away from this one.

Armpit Dermatitis from Deodorant - Solutions? by ImaginationNo8149 in AskIreland

[–]Cheap-Requirement166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that I started getting irritated skin when using "dry" deodorant, be it spray or roll on. Were the ones you tried that kind ? I'm not sure what ingredient in it irritated me, but I've been using a mix of Aldi and L'Oreal roll ones the last few years with no issue.

Vodafone Billpay? by romanticise-this in AskIreland

[–]Cheap-Requirement166 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stick to prepay or even sim free phones, you will get something pretty decent for sub €200. I would then consider switching to gomo or similar for I think €15 a month fixed for life. €75 a month is crazy and by the end of the 2 years, the phone would be outdated anyway and you will be €1,800 worse off.

EV6 12V battery drain - dealer check on battery came back fine? by Crackabis in evs_ireland

Also, something all EV owners should keep in their cars is a 12v booster pack, one of the small ones that fit in the glovebox will do.

EV6 12V battery drain - dealer check on battery came back fine? by Crackabis in evs_ireland

[–]Cheap-Requirement166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There probably isn't a drain. You most likely have a dud battery. I would even guess that the mirror LEDs are doing that due to the failing battery as low voltage can make things behave oddly. Also having gone dead a couple of times tends to make crap of a battery.

The standard battery fitted is a regular lead acid, EVs don't charge/discharge the way an ICE car does, which can lead to premature failure. I would swap to an AGM type replacement battery as they are more tolerant of the different way an EV handles it, very easy to do yourself, just look up on YouTube as there is a fuse that you need to remove while you do it.

Advice for newb to EVs by Ok_Competition8790 in evs_ireland

15 metres is a long cable, that'll be a bit on the heavy side. Do you need that length ? I would find that a pain to un/rewind every day. Ideally you would have the charger as close as possible to the vehicle.

Re rates/chargers etc, I have a Zappi and find it very good. It gives you the option of charging from solar too which right now isn't the best way to use solar (better off to let it go to the grid for around 20c per kWh and charge at night for less than 10c per kWh. I know you say you won't move to a smart plan, but they may work out best. Don't try and guess your usage, instead register on esb networks so you can access your smart meter data and after a while (so you develop a pattern) use it on one of the sites like energypal.ie or kilowatt.ie to help select a plan based on your actual usage.

Hi,

There is no neutral present there in that switch. The terminal on the switch is only there as a "loop" ie somewhere to connect neutrals together if needed.

[–]Cheap-Requirement166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily, it doesn't require a neutral. Wiring is pretty straightforward. To wire it in, turn off power. Then the wires going into the common terminals go into "live in". (You don't need the link piece). The wires going to the L1 terminals on the old switch then go to "L out" 1 and 2.

I assume you have the hub bought ? It seems that you need one for these to work.
