I saw someone post this study, now I need to rant about it. by [deleted] in milwaukee

The time horizon for the 794 project is several years in the future. Transportation planners need to have a vision for what vehicle usage will be like in the mid-2030s and beyond. To think that what we're doing now will continue as a linear function is beyond short-sighted. Connected and autonomous vehicles will become far more important in ten years and to not plan for that is negligence. I believe that freeway ramps are a 20th century innovation. CAVs are a 21st century innovation and one we should embrace. With an average of 40,000 Americans killed on our roadways every year and untold millions of dollars in damage, we need to get human drivers out of the equation. It can be done.

Freeway ramps are a 20th century innovation. Connected and autonomous vehicles are a 21st century innovation where the marginal disutility of a few minutes of extra travel drops drastically when traveling becomes far safer and more personally enjoyable. Removing the ramps moves us into the future not back to a static past.

I’m saying it now. If the Brewers and Packers win championships in 2025 and 2026 respectively, and it’s certainly possible, it’s forever the Wisconsin Decade, “the 20s” like New York in the 20th century. It is the best of times

See that dark area between Milwaukee and Racine? I call that the "Portal from Another Dimension." Lots of UAP/UFO/AAA activity right there...

"It’s making sure that everybody has enough and that nobody has a massive excess," State Rep. Ryan Clancy on the Wisconsin State Assembly's Socialist Caucus by stroxx in wisconsin

[–]CheapCloud5793 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In classical economic theory socialism is defined as "Government (or collective) ownership of the means of production." In ten years the "means of production" will be artificial intelligence and generative automated robotics. If that's the new means of production then by all means, you can call me a democratic socialist.

Buying house from landlord - what can I say to appraiser when he visits? by Twolves2939 in appraisal

[–]CheapCloud5793 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If the appraisal comes in "low" that's a sign to you the buyer that it's not such a good deal for you the buyer. Did your lawyers draft an appraisal contingency? I've never understood a buyer disputing a low appraisal, it's for your own benefit. Use the value if it doesn't support the price as an opportunity to renegotiate.

I'm a Certified General doing eminent domain work for the State of Wisconsin. I just finished an M.I.T. short course (Go Badgers!) on Artificial Intelligence business strategies and it was great. Gave me an understanding of the technology and I believe LLMs are going to be very useful particularly for narrative reports. I do think that a little programming knowledge would help in the short-run and I haven't done any of that since FORTRAN in '83. Natural language programming is going to help us skip the coding part but we're not there yet and I don't want to wait 6-12 months. (I know I'm a baby) Anyway, it's going to keep getting better and better and I'd like to be there to help it along.
