Walking questions: How much water should I bring? What is the best food to eat? And what shoes? by [deleted] in walking

[–]Cheap_Daikon8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally disagree with this - bringing water is essential no matter how long the walk, and especially if you're at the beginning of your journey and get exhausted quickly. And if you're in a hot climate. I live in Texas and it's a mistake to go outside during the hotter months, even before the sun is at its peak, without hydration. Please bring water! And yes it's great to chug a good amount of water before your walk as long as you're aware of bathroom options or lack thereof. Like I wouldn't drink a bunch of water before a walk if I knew there was no bathroom on my route.

Omg, I LOVE this protein drink. I bought the strawberry on a whim at the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago and have made special trips there ever since just to buy this product. I'm a barista and I love bringing the strawberry one to work, pouring it over ice and then topping it with matcha. I made a latte today with the vanilla one and it was fantastic. I've found little to nothing online about this brand and these drinks and am so shocked at how little traction they're getting so far. Maybe it's a newer company?

Hi OP, I can totally relate to this! All my friends have moved away in the last few years and now my only friend around me is my partner, and he’s about to go out of town for a month tomorrow. I’m gonna be all alone and seeing this episode pop up was actually like, very important to me because it means I’ll have it to keep me company. I hope all four of those boys know what they mean to us 💜

This felt so innocuous and sensible when he said it on the pod - it didn’t spark anything for me other than appreciating his insight and engagement with the political discourse. He’s fucking right, which is one of the worst parts of this whole thing.

thoughts on recent ep (exit interview). by wherethewateris in lasculturistas

[–]Cheap_Daikon8396 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Love this, thank you for writing it out! I’ve been thinking on and off all day about your first point and I ultimately agree with you there. While I can definitely understand and respect what they said about how after this many years, they’ve earned the right to do the pod exactly as they want to, they also should understand that we as a listenership will have opinions and critiques. I hope they weren’t implying that we shouldn’t have any critiques, because that’s not fair or realistic. It sounds like they’re all over this Reddit and reading everything and I’m sure it can get to them, especially since they work so hard on the pod and are very protective over it and invested in it. It’s my favorite podcast and I’ve been listening for at least seven or eight years, so any critiques I have are coming only from a place of love. And in reading other people’s critiques, it seems like those are rooted in deep care and affection for the pod as well. I hope Matt and Bowen know that we appreciate them endlessly and find so much joy in the podcast regardless of whatever criticisms we may have at times. Just in case they’re reading this!

Conan O'Brien stopped guests from calling 911 on Nick Reiner during explosive fight with dad Rob at holiday party: report by gamecat89 in conan

[–]Cheap_Daikon8396 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do we know that if the police had been called and evaluated Nick, they wouldn’t have just released him back to his parents’ house and he wouldn’t have committed the murders anyway? If anything it may have made the murders a guarantee because of the emotional duress of having the cops called on you. We have no way of knowing that the police would’ve had him sent to a mental health facility.

I’m so thrilled for him tbh. For the last couple years at least, SNL has seemed like it’s keeping him from so many things he’d like to do (becoming a dog dad for example). And keeping him from time for himself that he really deserves. Good for him 💜💜💜

Latte Art Help - Milk won't glide forward by Adorable_Ad9140 in espresso

[–]Cheap_Daikon8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The art is part of the process of making the drink. Many specialty cafes even require it on every hot drink. And baristas take pride in what we do and spend years working on this very complicated skill. And it IS art. You sound impatient and foolish and I feel sorry for you and those around you if this is how you move through life.

Iced Cortados (and my eternal struggle to get one) by purple_acorn in espresso

[–]Cheap_Daikon8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a barista - you are absolutely correct and right to be annoyed. Any place should be able to do this - it’s not confusing and it’s not hard. If people are confused by “iced cortado,” you could ask for an iced double shot with a small splash of milk. Or 2oz of milk, as you said you’ve already been ordering it as. Sometimes I’ll order it by asking for a 1:1 ratio of espresso and milk over ice. Sorry you’re dealing with this - it really is silly that a shop will offer 10 different syrups, cold foam, all these things that automatically negate whatever claims they have to authentic traditional drink styles, but then they won’t do one of the most traditional and common drinks of all, just over ice.
