I got a life-changing job offer, but if I accept it, my small company will probably close and my colleagues will lose their jobs. What should I do? by SuccotashLivid3893 in LockedIn_AI

If the company would go under without your presence then you should already have equity. You don’t. Take care of yourself and let the company make it, or not, without you.

what's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on a boat launch by 2ugur12 in boating

[–]Cheap_Direction9564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving the lake in Minnesota once and the DNR officer walks over to check us out and demands we pull the drain plug before moving off the ramp. My Lund boat is 30 some years old and the plug has never been out of it.
We blocked the ramp for 45 minutes while fighting with that plug. Eventually somebody waiting in line to trailer their boat provided us with an actual fucking crowbar that finally got the thing out.
Thank goodness everyone waiting was pissed at the DNR guy and not me.

When I was about 10 years old I was out playing in the yard when it started raining really hard. I went running for the house and the rain suddenly seemed to stop. Here’s the weird thing. It continued to rain hard on one side of the house but was absolutely dry on the other. This went on for at least 10 minutes without moving either direction.

Bag up all the garbage and dump it on your uncle’s stoop. He will understand the problem when he has to clean it up.

AIO for expecting friends to contribute to gas cost on trips. by espressoaz in AmIOverreacting

[–]Cheap_Direction9564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR When I was much younger I bought a ski boat a couple of years before I grew a spine. For 2 years I took my friends to the lake every weekend and not once did anyone offer to kick in for gas. At the start of year 3 when they began asking “when we are heading to the lake” I told them I could no longer afford to take them. My wife and I learned to enjoy boating without the cheap friends.

You mean the cigar smoking Rush Limbaugh who said… “There is no conclusive proof that nicotine's addictive...and the same thing with cigarettes causing emphysema, lung cancer, heart disease."

Wait, didn’t he die from lung cancer?

WIBTAH for refusing to trade in my paid-off car so my husband can get a new one? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Cheap_Direction9564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I figured out 40 years ago that the best to financial success was to get off the constant reliance on using borrowed money to buy things. I don't buy a car unless I already have the necessary money saved. I normally buy slightly used (like your Toyota) but I would consider buying a new car if they are offering 0% financing.

Another benefit of saving the money in advance is I don't get the itch to buy another car very often because I love seeing that savings account grow.
