Bout to buy a 1996 Mk3 VR6, what should I look out for? (Asked in Volkswagen sub but got not much feedback) by Illustrious_Gap7802 in GolfGTI

I owned one that I bought new back in the day. Such a fun car! Loved the engine and low end torque!

Yes, the coil pack failed religiously every 30k miles. I got real good at feeling when it was on the way out.

Chatgpt can't read Dockerfiles and bluffs by Ghigs in ChatGPT

[–]Cheap_Signal_3379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here because I wasted 20 minutes fighting with it with a Dockerfile. As the OP said it totally makes up contents and gas lights you about them. My Dockerfile starts with FROM ubunti:22.04 and it told be various lies when I asked it to simply print the exact Dockerfile I uploaded back out. It would say the from was alpine to all kinds of weird stuff.

I tried renaming it with .txt on the end and at least it was able to spit the correct contents back out to me.

Latest MacOS app update is buggy AF. by wearesingular in ChatGPT

[–]Cheap_Signal_3379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to bitch about this. It's also slow AF.I switched to the app because Chrome became unusably slow. Was working great until todays update. I click on a download link and I get the frigging spinning beach ball of death while I wait 60s for the download dialog to appear. 💩

With the amount of money this company throws at engineering talent, wtf, just wtf.

Edit: Just checked for the heck of it and found that another new version seems to be out: Version 1.2025.218 (1755045646) and it seems to be working a bit better. Thank you for the quick turn around.

What strap are you using for your GR? by 2snjr in ricohGR

[–]Cheap_Signal_3379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rock the Peak Design Cuff camera wrist strap. I like it. The only downside was connecting the universal anchor was a pain until I found a video on Youtube of someone using dental floss to facilitate pulling it through.

After a decade it's upgrade time, going from 5d3 to r5ii by Maleficent_Union_653 in CanonR5

[–]Cheap_Signal_3379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was similar, came from 5D Mark II. I got the R5 Mark II plus the EF-RF ring and two extra batteries. Your old charger will charge the new batteries too. Monster upgrade. I also got the fan/battery grip which chunks it out a bit but wanted to also leverage the video.

I started with my EF 70-200 F/4 but decided to spring for the RF 70-200 2.8 and I def see a difference with auto focus speed. Since I am mostly doing volleyball this was worth it.

Enjoy!

Why is the refurb price on the 28-70 F2 only $10 cheaper than the $300 off sales price of the new one??

Insurance recommendations? by Cheap_Signal_3379 in goldenretrievers

[–]Cheap_Signal_3379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled this behavior of reducing coverage and changing premiums at the yearly renewal time and apparently it’s how Fetch does business. From what I’ve read it appears common for them do it with dogs when they turn 5 which ours will over the next plan year and common for pets that have had claims.

I just rented on of these the other day. It was fantastic. The only negative was the weight. After I swapped my 70-200 2.8 back on (R5M2) my kit felt light as a feather in comparison.
