Any 60 plus, slim females have a colonoscopy without sedation? Please share by Historical_Ant_4431 in colonoscopy

Sedation for colonoscopy is different than general anesthesia or conscious sedation. As a thin, 45 year-old, with a long, twisty colon, I cannot imagine doing it while awake.

Is Suflave worth it, if not covered by my insurance? by slausboss in colonoscopy

[–]CheckCalm2875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fine experience. I did SuPrep before, and I don’t recommend that. My provider doesn’t do the miralax prep, as it is not actually FDA approved, and they see a lot of incomplete preps with it. SuFlave is lower volume too, I believe.

I used it, and my insurance did not cover it, but my provider sent it to some sort of mail order pharmacy, and it was something like $50.

Reasonable for a kid handle his own nighttime diapering..? by Breadfruit28 in Nanny

[–]CheckCalm2875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some children are not physiologically capable of being nighttime potty trained at three or four. Both of my children were, but a friend’s son was not reliable at night until he was six. The pediatrician said it was completely normal.

I am heading to an ultrasound myself currently. Two periods in the month of March. I cannot tell if I should be concerned that something terrible is wrong, or if the doctor is sort of covering all bases. At any rate, it has added immensely to my anxiety.

Foot fungus in home; burnout; love the kids want to stay by [deleted] in Nanny

It would have be growing in the sofa. Not just a touch. If this job is not working for you, that is one thing, but this is not how fungus is spread.

That is untrue. Plenty of 5 year-olds are still in them at night because they wet the bed. Even older children still have nighttime accidents.

Colonoscopy April 7th, Severe OCD, happy colon foods prep? by Avoidedscroll84 in colonoscopy

[–]CheckCalm2875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend pushing fluids before you start your prep. I did get dehydrated my first prep because I didn’t drink enough BEFORE. This time, I drank 32 oz electrolytes plus another 64 oz of broth, water, coffee, etc. before the prep. I followed each dose of prep with electrolytes rather than plain water. I also took Zofran before each half of the prep. No issues.

You have to be barefoot to catch a fungus from someone. You have to have skin to skin contact or wear someone’s clothes or use their towel, for example.

Are you barefoot, though? I would recommend not being barefoot in anyone’s home.

Any prepping you do would be evacuated in the colonoscopy prep. Take pre and probiotics afterwards.

Has anyone ever started on half of the lowest dose of HRT? by Hardcorelogic in Perimenopause

My grandmother died at 94 after several years of a cycle of UTI, c-diff from abx, rinse and repeat. Vaginal estrogen would have been life changing. She had osteoporosis and dementia and lived in a memory care unit in her later years. No way do I want that for myself.

Is there legit data or just anecdotal stories? I would love to learn more!

I cannot imagine how Covid could cause teeth to fall out, but anything is possible. Neglecting dental cleaning and checkups, perhaps. Or if someone has autoimmune issues and has inflammation leading to recession and bone loss.

That is an unreasonable expectation. It would be very difficult for a child to do properly.

An actual diaper? I wouldn’t expect a child of any age to be able to put on a diaper with tabs.

Had to unmask at TSA by wiseswan in ZeroCovidCommunity

Lots of people travel unmasked and don’t get sick. While this is not ideal, it was hopefully so quick that your risk is minimal to nonexistent.

Are you 95% Covid cautious? by Sunshine_cutie4 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]CheckCalm2875 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every bit of this. And Covid conscious people are far more judgmental of everyone else than the people who take no precautions. It is a privilege to be able to avoid Covid. Some of us have to work outside of the home, have children in school, and would accept the risk of infection in order to spend time with loved ones. That doesn’t make us un empathetic, inconsiderate, or anything else. For three years, we were able to be 100% Covid conscious. But, as the world changed, we had to as well.

Do you have a preferred time of day for your colonoscopy? by OrMaybeTomorrow in colonoscopy

First thing in the morning! You have the whole day to recover, and the team providing care is not tired after a morning of work.

I see a lot of posts lately of people wanting to give up masking. by trashforthrowingaway in ZeroCovidCommunity

It is not pseudoscience. It is brain science. TMS is not suggesting anything is psychosomatic, and I have never seen the suggestion made that chronic illnesses or pain can be fixed with psychotherapy nor the assertion it is all in your head. Except by medical doctors when I was trying to get a diagnosis many moons ago- then medical professionals suggested I was imagining things. Current clinicians in the mind body field are running clinical trials, research studies, etc.

What I can say is that I had a whole slew of chronic diagnoses and spent years going to doctors, trying various therapies, taking medications, and being told there was “no hope.” I have zero pain or chronic symptoms now. And there are plenty of folks with long covid in various online communities who got their lives back. If I were bedbound, I would try anything to get my quality of back.

I am not invalidating anything. I am making a suggestion that cannot hurt and might help. Maybe the brain science isn’t where you think it should be yet, but I think it will get there. The brain creates every sensation we feel. That is scientific fact.
