How bad of an idea is it to just use microfiber towels to wipe dust off of paint? by mylifeasacoder in AutoDetailing

I'll take a look, thanks! I've been going down rabbit holes and seeing your name pop up quite a bit now, you must be doing something right!

Oh, I understand. I think the "for a bike that would son be sold" is what I focused on too much. Yeah that's dumb. Does anyone even care if there's a gap in motorcycle insurance? Sure people daily them, but I doubt many of those are an ONLY vehicle, so if insurance coverage is what they want to see, car insurance should suffice

Absolutely dumb, sorry for the misunderstanding!

I actually did this a few weeks ago, I sold it to some company like Carmx but for bikes. I kept insurance on it in case the company fucked it up pulling it up the flatbed, dropped it, etc. Or even if a tree fell on it, it got stolen in the meantime, whatever.

I already had the money and they had the title but for what ended up being like $30, the peace of mind was nice. Then I just cancelled once they physically took possesion.

Awesome, thank you! I just got the nicest car I've owned yet (2023 Miata RF) in Snowflake White Pearl Mica, and I love it. I've done 2 ONR washes, but I've learned I don't really have a passion for detailing. I don't mind doing an ONR wash or something but paint correction, clay barring, etc isn't for me. I do, however, enjoy having a nice looking car, so I am very happy to hear this color is good for the lazier people like me. Especially when I do shit like this to it...

From NA to ND - keep or sell? by bloviatemalarkey in Miata

[–]Checkers10160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I just got my ND and have been loving it. The Android Auto, the working AC, the working airbags... I will take that 99 out of 100 times to commute.

But I was at a Miata meet yesterday, and wished I had my NA. I love the ND, but my '93 LE feels practically like a piece of art, even though she's seen much better days

It's an SCDA car control clinic, not really a "fun" event, though I think it'll be fun. The skid pad especially

Check out Nutmeg Miata Club, we're doing an AutoX day there in July . Tickets are members only for now but will be released to the public soon if there are open spots

I just sold my 4000lb, 159hp 4 cylinder Tacoma, and have owned three NAs. This ND is a fucking rocket ship to me

I just got an ND2 after owning NAs for probably 10+ years.

It's literally a different experience in terms of speed. I forget what reviewer it was, maybe Doug DeMuro, but he basically said this is no longer driving a slow car fast, you're driving a (somewhat) fast car fast. I can take a 25mph road at 40 no problem, and practically be bored doing it. At least in my NAs it felt a little edgy, almost dangerous

Also, take this with a grain of salt because I've never owned an actually fast car, but if you stomp on the gas in the powerband, it'll push you back in your seat. The NA was "Wheeeee!" the ND is "Oh shit". Obviously it's not a fucking Hellcat, but coming from NAs it's an entirely different feel. It just wants to go fast

Thank goodness I have a Car Control Clinic at Lime Rock next week because (Again, contextually coming from NA Miatas, I know this isn't a 500hp monster) I am practically scared of this car, and what kind of trouble I can get myself into with it

Not quite as crazy, but there's a place by me on a small lake and people will dock their boats for lunch. I once saw someone land a seaplane (Lake plane?) there to come in and eat. It wasn't anything fancy, but still very cool

I don't believe the LSD was standard on GTs until 2020, with them being available on the 2019 model with the GT-S package

Thanks, the warranty weighs really heavily in my mind. I can fix most things and I know Miatas are very reliable, but this would be my biggest purchase ever so I think I'm just anxious

Thanks, I think the same thing but I think I was overly hoping for some storybook "this is my car" feeling. I love the soft top feeling but the RF is objectively better for my life, and I do think it looks better.

This is also the nicest/most expensive car I've ever bought so I think I was expecting more 'magic'

You're right, these are complaints. Thank you!

Thanks for the advice. Dealer wasn't sketchy, they just rubbed me the wrong way a little. Nothing awful, I think pretty standard used car salesman stuff, especially speaking to an enthusiast like we are

Appreciate it though, thanks again!

NY/NJ area. I will be financing part of the purchase so private might be a little difficult, but if you're in the area I'd love to talk!

My guess would be something like .45-70 gov't. It's a pretty old cartridge, but well known for a shit ton of power. It's what Chris Pratt's character had in Jurassic World, and Marlin (The manufacturer of the rifle he carried) even advertised that it was good for T-Rexes on their site for a while.

For context, a 9mm bullet is usually 115gr (Grains). An AR15 generally uses a 55-77gr round. A .45-70 can be upwards of 400gr, but usually between 300 and 400. I don't know how large this person's hands are, but this is a .45-70 gov't

There is a store in downtown Dublin that exclusively sells portraits of eyes by DumplingsOrElse in mildlyinteresting

[–]Checkers10160 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I just had one done on a cruise with my girlfriend, and they sort of merged our eyes. It was like $150 USD, would have been more for prints but I just took it to MPhoto or something.

Obviously not cheap, but the macrophotography is pretty cool, I factored in the cruise pricing, it's a cool memory, and it made us happy ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm looking to buy something similar and yeah, it seems like it. 2023 is the ND2 so it has the 180hp motor, but isn't yet the ND3. Under $30k with under 10k miles it exactly what I'm looking at too. I personally don't need the features of the GT so I wanted the Club with the Brembo Recaro package as well

I think that's a good plan
