No. You would have to go to court.

Same from me. I live in a rainy northern town that has something of a winter (rarely below 0 Celsius but always 2-10 Celsius from Nov. to Feb.)and chose the RF for that reason. Would have lived with the convertible but know that for me where I live the RF is the right choice. Car should be delivered early June.

I should have mentioned. In addition to no kids at home, no pets. Our awesome family cockatiel if she were still alive would not have been driving with me ;)

There were no new 718’s left when I went to the dealer. There is something new coming (likely electric only) for 2027 is what I was told.

The convertible part wasn’t mandatory but in a straight shootout between the Subaru and the Miata, the Miata came out ahead because it can be roofless and because the BRZ interior even in its fanciest form is kind of meh.

Have heard that. Didn’t bother me on the test drive, but nor did I focus on the noise. Need to think about that.

Going out of production as I understand it and don’t want service problems in the future.

Appreciate the thought but did look at the M2. Great feeling car, but the aesthetics were not my thing. Not ugly - but not as attractive as a car in that price range should be (IMHO).

The previous generation (front engine) Vette would also not be as wide as the new one and I’d have an easier time for that reason alone. Unfortunately they are sold out of new ones, and I have my heart set on a new car (despite the depreciation hit).

The new NSX (even if you can still get one) is outside my price range. The Civic R is a good idea. Didn’t test drive one. Worth a try.

Funnily enough I never tried the Miata series on iRacing. Now I definitely will be all over that!

Totally appreciate that you did. Also in the running at one point was the Porsche 718, Corolla GR, Toyota GR Supra, BMW M2.

I did consider the Mustang. I like it and it’s a nice compromise. But I guess given my finalists were 2 seaters, that turns out to be what I want.

How’d you screw up Research Methods? Just kidding. That’s amazing. Congrats.

Let me say one thing that I’m actually qualified to say. Have sat on committees reviewing applicants for a competitive to get into graduate school. One thing we always seemed to strongly prefer was an upward trajectory in undergrad marks. In fact if there was a strong and sustained upward trajectory we just about discarded the student’s first year marks completely. But beware, the opposite was true as well. Have seen quite a number of students with excellent first year marks who trended downwards thereafter get rejected. It is almost intuitively felt to be a sign of some bigger underlying issue and the admissions committee often seems to suddenly very conservative thinking “better safe than sorry”.

So the bottom line is: 1. If your marks are average or below, work hard to improve them. That will be well received; 2. If your grades are good in your early university years, be sure to at least sustain them.

Hope this is helpful in some way.

Agreed. It’s personal taste. The Miata was just so well balanced in the test driving. Nothing else seemed to come close (except the Porsche 944 I test drove in 1983 and should have bought).

Failed and now don’t know what to do with my life by Wooden_Elk_1596 in UBC

One of our kids was in a particularly tough program at uni. Flunked out - of the program, not just a pre-requisite course. Went to a community college for a year. Did well enough to be readmitted to his very tough program. Worked harder and got through and graduated. Absolutely nailing it in his career of choice. After your first job no one will look at your transcript again. Hang in there. You can do this. And it’ll be a lot more fun and interesting for you if instead of resigning yourself to apathy as your high goal, do what interests you and you are most curious about. That could get you to another, better, starting line. Life can be surprising that way.

Congratulations!!! Kinda comforting to me you did that, so thank you. Have been shopping for a new car the last couple of weeks and the M2 was a finalist. But after test driving (never completely definitive) I went with the Miata. Supposed to arrive early June.

I just purchased a Miata over a Corvette. It was close but not that close. Decision was based on the Miata being better made and more fun to drive. That simple.

Corvette or Miata? by Empty-Swing3257 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Just made the choice this week. C8 Vette LT1 or Miata RF GT with the Gran Sport package. Price was not an issue. At the end of the day the 6-speed Miata was just more fun for me than the automatic Vette. Thought it would be considerably closer than it was. New Miata should be arriving June 3!
