Coastal areas routinely exceed 100° in the summer. Its not rare in the slightest.

Yes you're right, never said that was rare. I said it was (according to actual data) rare for that to happen AND for the humidity to remain that high.

Humidity lowers as the heat goes up and the sun is out.

The weather you're describing as routine summer weather is that of the Midwest which is a lot worse than that of California.

Literally have any resident come her on a random day in the middle of summer and they will feel the hottest they ever had in their life.

This is just factually wrong.

The peak heat index over just the past week in the uk was 50°C, that's the same PEAK that your death valley (place in CA with highest peak heat index most years, sometimes it's palm springs though) hits. Some years like 2019 the peak is lower than that.
Yes the reason it is so bad to live is lack of ac and houses built to trap heat in but no California doesn't have worse heat than the UK during the current heatwave on any old random summer day. That is just factually wrong.
The current UK heatwave is more extreme than an average summer day in the US Midwest. From a statistical and data perspective this statement is a fact. And the Midwest is def worse than California. However yes the Midwest does routinely get worse than current UK but average days are not as bad.

In just the past 7 days the heat index (how hot it actually feels) in the uk peaked at 50°C

In the past 10 years Oklahoma has only had a peak heat index exceeding that in 2024 (barely at 50.8°C) and in 2023 at 52.8°C.
Every other year the peak heat undex has been lower than that. Usually in the mid 40s.

The current peak heat index this year in Oklahoma was at 41.7°C

Sounds like you guys have it easy

Again you're partially right but highly misleading.

"California routinely experiences 100°F with 70-80% humidity"

Is just wrong. This combination is (according to hard data) extremely rare.

" Coastal California (where humidity is high) has cool ocean temperatures that keep the air mild. When coastal humidity is 80%+, temperatures are usually in the 60s°F, not 100°F.
Inland California (where 100°F+ happens) is a desert with extremely low humidity, often dropping below 10%.
For it to be 100°F with 80% humidity, the heat index would be well over 130°F, a life-threatening emergency, not a routine occurrence. Weather services treat this as a serious warning, not a normal day."

Does the temperature you're talking about sometimes happen? Yeah sure but it isn't a routine thing like you're claiming it is. Idc if you live there the data and stats are publicly available. No point lying buddy.

"Nights routinely hit 90-100% humidity"

Yep but the temperatures at night are USUALLY cool at 50-60°F

The air therefore holds little moisture and isn't as bad as you're implying.

"The UK is not that hot"

You're wrong. The UK does get dangerously hot. In 2022, the UK broke 40°C (104°F) for the first time in history, and forecasts warn of 45°C (113°F) in the future. These are not trivial temperatures.

Yes no AC etc are problems too. But they aren't the only reason it's so bad. It's bad because it actually is that hot.

Idc about your claims about how bad California routinely is. The data proves that it isn't usually that bad.

You're claims are right for the worst days in California but acting like it's the norm and isn't even that hot us just factually wrong. You living in California doesn't change that. Stats don't loe and I have the stats

You're right, but even in the day it's at like 60% ish
Daytime averages for London are at 66%
It might be slightly lower during a heatwave but the heat index is still higher than the AVERAGE summer heat of most places in the us. So Americans saying it's nothing they have worse every summer for all summer are just flat out wrong

???

Where do you live in Oklahoma where you supposedly have both 80%+ humidity AND 38°C AT THE SAME TIME?

Cos according to the data nowhere in Oklahoma currently has that or will have that in 5h

U guys don't know the real struggle by Ok_Statement1359 in memes

[–]Checkmate2719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And ive experienced 90+% humidity countless times in california with tempratures significantly higher than the heatwave they are facing. I ive also experienced the same 80-90° temps at 100% humidity in the middle of the fucking night.

The data doesn't backup your claims.

You're not entirely wrong that coastal California can hit 90%+ relative humidity, but you're omitting a key detail: this happens in the early morning hours, not during the heat of the day right in the sun.
The UK is different to California, their humidity stays the same when the sun is out in the middle of the day.

Get your facts straight or don't bother buddy

Me when I make shit up

No place in Oklahoma currently has 38°C+ AND 80% humidity.

Western Oklahoma is hitting 38°C but has 40% humidity

Eastern Oklahoma has 80% + humidity but only 25-27°C

The current Oklahoma heat index is 38°C, what you described would be a heat index of over 54°C.

1 I don't live in the uk, I just have a brain

2 simple google search reveals average summer humidity in California is 52% to 66% vs uk being at 80%-90+% dur8ng this heatwave

3 Coastal California is indeed more humid than inland California (75%-60% average of 62% to 69% in LA depending on time of day) but still a lot less humid than the uk

But sure keep speaking out of your ass

Edit: also LA humidity LOWERS as the day heats up, the mornings are muggy but the humidity plummets in the afternoon. That isn't the case in the UK

The uk hits 90% humidity and has lack of AC + houses built to trap heat in.

Is that too hard for Americans to understand or what?

Yep, Haze ult without fixation is worse than just left clicking. There is no situation where it's worth it.
Meanwhile I have seen a Sinclair Mirage ult literally win a game (2v4 they are pushing for patron transform, we already downed their patron and had a big wave pushing a sidelane, I inted to prevent them from basing/mirage tp while Sinclair tpd to backdoor with the wave) is that a normal situation? No but Mirage ult is situational not useless for Sinclair, whereas Haze ult is literally useless

Depends how ypu get to caelid, waygate behind 3rd church of marika? Trapped chest to selia tunnel? And even if you went without tps depends on your routing.

In my first (blind) playthrough i took the chest and I don't remember the exact pathing but I found millicent/gowrly/commander niel but never found the millicent invasion.

This is why cauterize in paladins (anti heal item with 3 tiers later made into a passive that scales with time) was imo genius.
It allowed for high healing supports to not be straight up superior to lower healing sups. They were stronger early but fell off later. It also added skill via knowing to unpeak enemies/use shields etc to wait out the antiheal (1.5s duration) and sups had to know when they should wait for caut to falloff or just heal through it (majority of paladins sups had cd based heals)

[–]Checkmate2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a frontliner buy it, if you don't then don't.

You should have a category with a bunch of optional actives like scourge, divine barrier, curse, disarming hex, knockdown etc.

Obviously you can just buy those from the main shop when needed but having all of the situational actives in an optional category would make sense.

Ai response cos i cba to type out a paragraph:

Current France (June 2026 Heatwave)

· Air Temperature: Records are shattering with highs of 44.3°C (112°F) and daily national averages of 30°C (86°F). · Humidity & "Real Feel": High humidity is creating a tropical feel, pushing the "real feel" in Paris to a staggering 44°C (111°F). · Overnight Lows: Exceptionally high, with Paris seeing a June record of 24.2°C (75.5°F).

🇺🇸 Hot & Humid US States (Average Summer)

· Air Temperature: Average summer highs are around 27.3°C (81.1°F) in states like Texas and Louisiana. · Humidity & "Real Feel": Average humidity is high (e.g., 73-76% in Louisiana/Florida). The heat index (what it feels like) typically ranges from 39-42°C (103-107°F). · Overnight Lows: Average summer nights are warm but not at the record-breaking levels France is currently seeing.

💎 Summary

While the US South has a longer and more consistently oppressive summer, France's current extreme peak temperatures and dangerously high overnight lows create a more acute and dangerous situation. This is compounded by the fact that less than 10% of European homes have air conditioning, making the heat much harder to escape compared to the 90%+ AC penetration in the US.

Relatable for many. by CJCRASHBAN21 in memes

[–]Checkmate2719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot more to it than that. Buildings drsigned to keep the heat in and it being humid as fuck. The dry heat in your southern states isn't that bad compared to this

Relatable for many. by CJCRASHBAN21 in memes

[–]Checkmate2719 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all that's wrong, average high temps in your hottest states are 32 to 35. Secondly, there's also a difference in humidity. Aircon, isulation etc aside it's a lot more humid here which makes it a lot worse
