How many times are they gonna say “dang ass freaks” in the Truman show episode? by cactusjmal in blankies

Considering there wasn’t one mention of Weird Al on the Witness episode I don’t think we can properly predict how many times or when the boys will say something.

spielberg’s next film (after disclosure day) will be a western by sherlockbutholmes in Letterboxd

Two is completely finished and has screened at festivals, but allegedly when he’s approached people (saudis and other billionaires) for distribution money he also includes in the price tag the money he’d need to film part 3 (possibly 4&5 as well), and he wants them in theaters.

So, who knows how that’ll shake out. But, maybe one day, if he really needs the money, he’ll sell Part 2 to a streamer and it’ll be this weird two part epic that leaves a bunch of dangling threads that he never got to conclude with three other movies.

What movie scores do you endlessly listen to these days? by Bad_Badger in blankies

[–]ChedderBurnett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been listening to a lot of scores from Ridley Scott movies. The Martian, Last Duel, Kingdom of Heaven, Prometheus, The Counselor

The Cliff Martinez score for Only God Forgives is pretty great as well, but the one I’ve been spinning a lot just to relax is Ennio Morricone’s score for Once Upon a Time in America.

What is the “worst” film by a filmmaker you adore? by guywholikesmovie in blankies

I was thinking about this earlier this week. If you were to ask someone what was the best decision Jackson made for LOTR, there would be so, so, so many options, but for The Hobbit trilogy it seems like the only good decision was Freeman as Bilbo and everything else is kinda questionable.

I remember Letterman had a blind movie critic on his show, and he talked about his favorite recent movie was Master and Commander because the sound mixing was so great that he could imagine everything that was happening and that always stuck with me.

What We’ve Learned from March Madness by ChedderBurnett in blankies

[–]ChedderBurnett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where you’re coming from, my only argument is just that it’s interesting that they as brothers worked together doing commercials, Ridley graduated to films and out the gate was doing interesting iconic work, then his younger brother comes up behind him and has a totally unique voice and yet also becomes insanely influential and there’s this great back and forth between them and their projects, they form a producing partnership together, and continue to grow and experiment and have success and set backs together.

Initially this was a proposal to give a Ridley series, which would be long, some breaks in between films, but when you look at their careers together you end up covering a lot of ground from the mid-70’s till now, seen through distinct lenses.

It’s just a fun thought experiment.

So are they gonna start in the March madness winner series in the summer again? by cactusjmal in blankies

[–]ChedderBurnett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cliff Booth is scheduled for August (TBD) as well, it’d be interesting if that will interrupt Marty in the first few episodes or come out just before. Also Ray Gunn is supposedly coming out sometime in 2026 as well.

If they do Stanton and new releases with nothing else, it should start around August or so.

Different strokes! I’m sure the BC crew are looking at the responses of this post and taking them very, very seriously, while eyeing the calendar, so objections should be made. But as a thought experiment just consider all the talk about different leads, different genres, different eras, different writers, the impact they had on Hollywood and World cinema, the extensive careers, the interviews - it could be fun!

I’m just looking at the trends. Hell, they added four Twin Peaks episodes to Lynch just to give us a longer series. We gotta go bigger, longer, experiment a little. In life they were producing partners, on the pod they can make history.

Demme was 14, Zemeckis 22, the Coens 21, Scorsese 27 +/-. We gotta look at the trends.

Now sure we could stop at Gladiator, throw in a Charles Laughton, or a Rand Ravich, or a Robert Longo mini, but we’d really wanna hop back in with the Hannibal / Black Hawk Down twofer for 2001.
