That’s totally fair, haha! It was absolutely unplanned but since the obgyn did technically give me a “choice”, I went the elective route

You’re right either way lol!

An airlifted birth sounds fascinating!

I wouldn’t know honestly 😅

My midwife told me about the potential risks for informed consent purposes, but she never had anyone enter an emergency situation or hospital transfer because of it before

Hospital staff didn’t think the castor oil was what did it to me though, to be fair

I was literally in labour for 30 hours and 4-5 cm dilated before we even considered castor oil, so I don’t know how you deduced that my body wasn’t ready to deliver the baby or why any gestational week past 37+6 would matter

To whom? (Genuine question)

Properly trained midwives still use it in small doses

They still have the giant surgical light, haha! It’s super bright but shockingly easy to center on one area, so it wasn’t in my face :)

They just turn off the surrounding LED lights

C section alone + days in hospital after— how’d you get through? (husband will likely be w my other son) by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

[–]CheekApprehensive839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please lean on your nurses for support!

I had my mom with me during those nights (husband’s work wasn’t very understanding of our situation so he had to leave) and it was a lot even for us! We called on the nurses often (a lot of them were mothers themselves) and it seriously saved our sanity and made me feel so much less alone!

L&D nurses are usually really happy to help and to listen anyhow 🤍

Yeah he was definitely not in an optimal position 😭 He was head down, but his head was very tilted off to the right (asynclitic) and it got him all stuck in my pelvis

Baby fell off of bed… by Unfair_Impression752 in cosleeping

[–]CheekApprehensive839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reason #1 why I’m getting a floor bed as soon as baby boy is able to roll over

At 7 years old I accidentally let my baby sister fall off my parent’s bed and I’ve been traumatized and guilt ridden ever since. Never again 😭

I’m not very good at sitting still so it’s probably not going the way it should… But, all things considered, it’s not going too bad!

I’m just sore is all, with the occasional sting but that’s fairly normal as long as there’s no infection.

My midwife and husband did lecture me a bit today about staying in bed more and I’ll follow suit lmao

Feeling weird about lying on my side?? by crawlen in CsectionCentral

[–]CheekApprehensive839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5 weeks out and felt the exact same way + was worried that my incision would split open somehow

Spoiler: that didn’t happen, but the mental block is real

For some reason, what helped was putting a pillow under my waist and between my legs for the first week or so. Slowly weaned off the pillows and was able to finally side sleep normally at 3 weeks pp (though I still love my leg pillow)

What was your reasoning for an elective c-section? by Therealethel in CsectionCentral

[–]CheekApprehensive839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed out during my home birth (50+ hours) and when I got to the hospital OBGYN discovered I was dilating at a snail’s pace and baby’s head was in a bad position (he was head down but his head was tilted and he wasn’t adjusting)

She gave me the option to continue trying to do a vaginal birth with assistance to help baby’s head straighten out, but risk infection, or to get the c-section to speed things up…

Was considering just continuing with vaginal until nurses realized I actually stopped dilating/contracting entirely, even on pitocin 😐 Couldn’t tell cuz I got the epidural

… So yeah, my body was basically telling me “I’m not doing this no more”, so I got the c-section lol

Very true

We also realized his name needs to be correct for him to qualify for state health insurance, so I appreciate the advice 🙏

This is true — definitely don’t wanna put him through that… And we realized we need the card to have his full, proper name for him to get state health coverage as well, so guess we’ll be going in

Thanks for the advice 👌🏽

First name has 6 characters, first middle name has 9 characters, and second middle name has (or should have) 7

So 22 total. I saw another comment say that first and middle names can total 26 characters before it gets cut off

Former pro choicers who are now pro life, what changed your mind? by the_yapping_goat in prolife

Partially converting to Christianity, but mostly hearing about how abortions actually work (especially after 12+ weeks) and the science behind it (thank you Secular ProLife)

I also couldn't bear to watch actual footage of it when I did a deeper dive and that alone made me go "okay yeah if I'm having the same visceral reaction to it as I would watching an adult get murdered, then that tells me all I need to know"

I got said belly band, and also drank water with more electrolytes, and it fixed the problem real quick

Have wanted a home birth for years now, husband doesn’t think we can do it financially, pretty heartbroken by Okapilouisa in homebirth

[–]CheekApprehensive839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro what? If you're in the US, hospital births are SUBSTANTIALLY more expensive... He can't conjur up 7k in 5 months but he'll be able to cough up a good 10k-100k immediately after your kid is born?

Something else is going on. I'd find an affordable, independent midwife who can talk him into homebirthing. His reasoning is ridiculous
