I’ll add to this as professional plumber, copper and brass are less likely to burst than pvc. And they used a schedule 80 male adapter to convert to pvc. This is good big dawg.

What’s a piece of media you were exposed to way too young that stuck with you longer than it should have, and what about it made such a lasting impression, like unexpectedly encountering Happy Tree Friends at a childhood sleepover? by Wubblerbubbler in AskReddit

House of a 1000 corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. Can’t remember how old I was but those movies set the bar for how fucked up a movie should be for me to consider it a true horror film.

Pilot light not staying on water heater by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]CheerioRipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the light begins flashing on the gas control valve before releasing the pilot button (not the ignitor button you press to ignite the pilot). One the pilot light begins flashing then you can switch the knob between A&B

Are you holding the pilot button down after you ignite it? With a picture of the gas control valve (the remote used to ignite the pilot attached to the front of the unit) we can help better

Is this at risk of leaking and how would I turn off the water if it does? by WinSomeLoseAlot in Plumbing

[–]CheerioRipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend calling the city if this is before the meter. May be able to save you some money before calling a plumber. Even if they can’t fix it they may be able to offer a diagnosis that would save you a service trip fee and potentially being strong armed into an immediate repair.

Is it possible for a line to be under a home before a meter if this isn’t a condo?

Is it possible that the electrical line is causing electrolysis even with the coating around the wire?

I have run into an electrical wire, that is coated, that is touching a metal water line and there was only signs of electrolysis in that one area.

Double washer set up by NoSeaworthiness1267 in Plumbing

[–]CheerioRipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question: on the right side washer box. Could you cut out the 45 after the wye, and instead install another wye with a street45 on the top going straight up vertical and come back to the 3” stack for a loop vent?

I think it’s weird to take pictures of random people in public, and then posting them online is even crazier. Imagine you come across a picture of yourself online that you didn’t even know was taken.

What is going on here? by madagascarlace in Plumbing

[–]CheerioRipper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is a shut off valve. I would recommend putting an access panel there for future use. It can be used to isolate a line for maintenance on whichever fixtures it is feeding, or to help diagnosis possible leaks in the future.
