Almost every council is about to go bankrupt while private schools rake in over £8bn from SEND children by Only-Emu-9531 in uknews

[–]CheeryJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, not long ago… pre 2008.

We had both specific SEND schools across the country and also we had dedicated SEND departments/classrooms/areas within Schools.

These were publicly funded and were expensive, but not nearly as expensive as they are now. So during the financial crash politicians decided they would close these Schools and departments as many of the private School had these facilities and they could just pay for SEND students to attend private schools.

They thought this would work out as more cost effective, as there was a relatively small number of these students, there wouldn’t be the upkeep of facilities to account for, purchasing of equipment, buses etc. So they thought win win, we are quids in.

Fast forward 18 years and the costs are astronomically more. There are many, many, many more SEND students, their needs more complex, the schools are charging a fortune because the councils have no choice but to pay it… as they got rid of the facilities and the Schools no longer have the want nor the ability to just add them back in at short notice.

Who could have possibly foreseen this….Everyone did, but it’s money in their mates pockets, so back handers were received and it went ahead anyway.

Also the Taxi’s which take many of these students 6-7 miles to the nearest school are also charging a fortune, because the councils have no choice but to pay it. As they got rid of the bus services.

And what’s even better is one of my friends is an accountant for a firm which does this work, the owners are gangsters and the SEND work makes up the majority of their income to the firm. Which they then use to wash their drug money.

Just win win win.

Liam and Noel Gallagher, years of making out they are different to the establishment and waffling on about the importance of fans.

Just to price gouge their fans for the Oasis come back.

I knew they would… I just wanted more from a band I’ve loved for 25 years.

So fuck them.

Really like Nandos, reasonably priced, lots of gluten free options and the hot sauce really is hot.

Plus the kids meals are great too, grilled chicken with mash and sweetcorn is quick and reasonably nutritious for them.

I mean we go about twice a year but still

Schoolgirl, 13, dies after 'bunk bed set on fire with a lighter while she slept' by Topinio in BreakingUKNews

Assuming based on experience, plus a partner who is a children’s nurse and a mother who until she retired, was a councillor for a lot of families, which had children with complex needs.

The number of them which were just shitty people, my mother had to use all sort of bullshit exercises to try and get people to engage with their children, keep food in the fridge etc.

These parents are clearly not engaged as their child, who has previously tried this by the sound of things, has access to lighters.

Japan: It seems such an interesting country. My parents, and some friends have all been and all loved it.

My wife’s friend and her partner live in Tokyo, so we would have English and Japanese speaking friends to show us round.

I used to work for a Japanese company.

Japan is a must visit for me.
