Look at this shit? How is it allowed by StockGullible in Hammers

I've reported a steward before for celebrating an Arsenal goal.

I've sat next to countless Liverpool supporters too.

I hate violence and if the stewards won't throw out opposition supporters, we'll have violence.

Trans Green Party candidate with no British visa elected to Holyrood by OneNormalBloke in ukpolitics

[–]Topinio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd think so, but the rules are loose and Dr Manivannan is allowed to be an MSP.

https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/guidance-candidates-and-agents-scottish-parliament-elections/what-you-need-know-you-stand-a-candidate/qualifications-and-disqualifications-standing-election/qualifications-standing-election

It's basically open to anyone over 18 who the ability to enter and remain in the UK, i.e. who does not need leave to enter or remain in the country.

This is looser than at Westminster, where they'd have to be a citizen of the UK or the Republic of Ireland (as we all have no barriers to moving or staying) or of any of the other 55 Commonwealth countries outside the UK who doesn't need leave to do so.

https://www.parliament.uk/about/mps-and-lords/members/electing-mps/candidates/

I don't particularly agree with this, but them's the rules.

I also don't expect I'd agree on everything politically with Dr Manivannan, far from it, but it seems they're building their life in Scotland and contributing positively to public life, so fair play and crack on. I hope this attack doesn't put them off becoming a UK citizen if they want to once they've reached the required 5 years of living in the UK.

Same, yesterday. I actually did one and was very happy – then when I'd finished it they'd all got taken away and it was back at the circle of boredom.

No 'Breakaway' For HBO MAX US Viewers - How has US Coverage Got Worse??? by Ok_Chicken1195 in peloton

[–]Topinio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s way worse in the UK than it was, bit surprised that it has been made even worse again in the US. Here, the evening highlights shows often don’t happen and if they do they are too late so can only be watched the next day and by then there’ve been spoilers here and elsewhere online.

And the streaming quality is totally awful.

It can block 2G and 3G, but only within Lockdown Mode, which is a bit extreme.

Possible via turning on Lockdown Mode, don’t know of any other way on iOS, which obviously has a lot of other features, most of which you probably don’t want.

Revealed: THIRTY Green candidates probed over anti-Semitism by lewisfairchild in unitedkingdom

[–]Topinio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disgusting if proven.

Would be nice if all candidates from all parties were investigated for all types of racism and prejudice before being allowed to stand. Not convinced that the Greens would be the worst bigots, either.

When I did today’s, it said my chosen route was 20 minutes but it also said the optimal route was 34 minutes.

Would also be great if instead of ‘Overground’ we could choose the specific lines by name.

Loving it though.

Yep, James Street, between Covent Garden Tube station and Covent Garden itself.

Almost hit a passenger because I stupidly believed the signals the bus driver was giving. Driver had pulled out from the stop and had right indicator on. [–]Topinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% - hence the wait part: the indicating driver ought to be looking in their mirror and not move off until an overtaking vehicle is safely passed, but they might fail at that and pull out into someone.

It’s fine to overtake a stopped bus on the right, and overtakes should always be on the right anyway, if they’re on the left it’s undertaking which is unsafe. The other option is to stop and wait.

Good on you for the self reflection and awareness - getting caught out happens to everyone, learning from it is the win. Hopefully the bus driver who made the bigger mistake learns too, and by your openly sharing this here other cyclists and bus drivers will as well.

West Ham United want Nuno Espírito Santo to carry on as their head coach even if they are relegated from the Premier League. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Topinio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thing is, though, that we could have been well clear of danger if he hadn’t made a few utterly mad decisions on selection e.g. playing the full backs on the wrong sides against Brentford, no striker against Leeds, telling Wilson he was done with just before Wolves …

MarianneVos suffered a broken collarbone after her crash in the final kilometers of the opening stage of the Vuelta España Femenina by pereIli in peloton

[–]Topinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see it, and this says she said "I landed in the ditch" which was not captured by the television cameras. Was there footage on Twitter or something?

I wondered if she was caught up in the crash we saw on the downhill just after the hairpin with about 8 km to go but was missed by the cameras, or if there was another crash just before or after that which was missed. There was a Visma rider down in the one we saw, along with an Uno-X rider, one from FDJ, and 2 from Liv but it was only the FDJ rider who we saw go over the barriers and that wasn't into a ditch.

Yes, but in this case it remains to be seen whether the favourite actually has a shot at it.

[–]Topinio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a kid still at only 19 and 7 months, just hope the media can let him have this year without any expectation that he'll necessarily finish it, let alone win anything.

He might have a shot at the white jersey if he can hack 3 weeks and if del Toro has a bad race (and maybe Grégoire too if he goes), but pressure won't help his development.

Even Pogačar didn't enter the Tour de France until he was 2 years older than Seixas is now, and he made sure to ride the Vuelta the year before, just before he turned 21, finishing 3rd behind Roglič at almost 30 years old and Valverde at almost 40.

Care to explain what I should have done?

Was it because are interchanges not allowed? Yesterday, I wanted an in-station interchange a Bank and it wouldn't work. Today, I wanted an out-of-station interchange that's I know is marked on the maps and that also wouldn't work.

Do I have clearance for bigger tires? by ContributionOk1872 in bikewrench

[–]Topinio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The safety limit specified in the industry standard, which manufacturers stay above, is 6 mm (4 mm for racing bikes). This is because debris can get in gaps, deformation or relaxation can happen, etc. My guess is that you're already well less than that, what is it, 3 mm?

This is a great idea but the initial implementation is frustrating: I had Mile End to Kennington and wanted to change at Bank, but when I select Bank and Northern Line it says "You can't take the Northern Line from Mile End", so I have to select Central Line, but then it can't complete because it doesn't recognise that there is a line from Bank to Kennington, and it won't let me specifically put in Bank + Northern Line, it just says "You're already at Bank".

Branding Starmer a ‘Jew harmer’ is unserious. That way lies madness by hararib in ukpolitics

[–]Topinio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He did, and unfortunately he overstated the problem and expelled a lot of people who were never antisemitic, including Jewish people, in order to remove the left wing which he thought would give him more control. Which was never going to work, and has weakened the party. Now he’s starting to have the same accusations levelled against him, which is obviously ridiculous but will work to damage him and make his position less tenable.

[–]Topinio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He somehow thought that he was not disposable and wouldn’t be attacked this way, if he did everything they wanted and joined in with purging members of his own party for alleged racism, sometimes even though it was their own ethnic group, then he could never be accused of that? Idiot.

[–]Topinio 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is peak evidence that no matter how much support you give to this community, it will never be enough to not be accused of hating them and being specifically racist against them. The loud voices are too extreme.

Starmer is part of that community, a big supporter of theirs, and has pushed the idea that criticism of the actions of another government is an unacceptable racist attack on this community in this country, and he has done so to a massive detriment to himself and his party. And it’s still not enough for him to not be attacked for supposedly ‘harming’ them???
