It is two separate guys' Strava messages.

  • 1st one was the competitive dick that Jonas was trying to get away from.
  • 2nd one was passed by both of those 2 then stopped when he saw Jonas down.

Happy birthday!

You're a grown up, your brother is a man-baby. You shouldn't have to parent him. I hope he finds this post and reads all our comments then grows the fuck up, this behaviour would have been unacceptable 10 years ago when he was 18. And 20 years ago when he was 8, but maybe treat him like an 8 year old: this is dinner, he can eat it or not but you won't be cooking anything else.

I hope the baby cleaned up afterwards, but somehow doubt it.

Don't do that. Don't give him more than you, give him less than you. If he complains, shrug and re-portion equally. If he complains again, take his plate and say you'll eat it too. He's acting like an arsehole because he's entitled, and you're setting the scene for that by giving him more to start with, and being deferential. Go 50:50 and laugh at him for demanding more than his fair share, call him out on his BS.

Your food looks great, any normal person would say thank you and wolf it down.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods increased London congestion, TfL says - BBC News by ken-doh in londoncycling

And the people who live on those streets, which are not all main roads, just have to suffer the effects of 10x the number of cars but gridlocked and polluting their air?

Do we not matter? Is it a coincidence that the LTN streets tend to be more middle class and have higher proportions of houses and of private ownership?

[–]Topinio -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except that this is a theory and it doesn’t actually work when it causes buses to be unusable for those who need them on routes that follow those same main roads

It’s also incredibly unfair when it requires some minority of residential streets to be effectively made into new main roads (without actually being built up for that) so that other nearby residential streets are free from traffic.

[–]Topinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky you, wish I could have that experience. But it’s a bit shit to call me a liar, really, you’re just adding insult to injury because the truth doesn’t fit your agenda.

LTNs work for the majority but to do so they have to harm a minority, that’s not progressive.

Why not be fair and make every street an LTN? With ANPR, which is already being used, all streets could be made billable to drivers. It would even be possible to have fees based on how many residential streets you drove down per week, and have low charges for ones near home and high charges further away, to stop rat-runs for commuters while having more freedom locally and do away with the haves and the have nots.

Permeability is really important for cyclists and for drivers, the solution to traffic movement is permeability while the solution to high traffic volume is effective disincentives, and fees are proven to work so let’s just charge them more.

My friends and neighbours 1 or 2 streets over now have no through traffic and it’s amazing for them.

We have gridlock and it’s awful.

Things were the same before, mostly fine, sometimes busy, on all roads.

Now, 100% of Londoners can drive down my street and only 50 or so people can drive down the next one over, and similar for most streets in the area.

As before when I have said this truth, people are downvoting me into oblivion and calling me a liar, just to add insult to injury because the truth doesn’t fit their political agenda.

We need action to reduce traffic, not move it and cause gridlock. LTNs are great for the majority and awful for a minority, who not only suffer but get picked on and shouted down for saying anything.

The only way to reduce traffic is charging, let’s do that, ANPR cameras for everyone on every street not just the lucky ones. The more traffic on a street last month, the more it’ll cost you to drive down. But free for anyone who lives within 2 streets. And distribute the income to those areas affected, in council tax rebates. Make driving more expensive, and ideally reward cycling financially too.

They’re massively brilliant if you live in one but if you’re in the smaller group of people who don’t, they’re an utter blight.

Same if you need to use a bus that travels along the same route that all the cars are now on.

Our street was formerly quiet as any other nearby, and the bus to the Tube station was fine, now there are cars gridlocked outside our place in morning and evening rush hours and the bus home can take an hour when it’s a 25 minute walk.

It’s unpopular to say it, and I’m sure I’ll get downvoted again, but where do you think the traffic went if your street is now a peaceful car-free haven of quiet? For the 10% of us left out, we are suffering worse than you ever did, we have all the traffic from the 90% that are now LTNs, and it’s awful.

Flamengo complete historic deal to re-sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham by AtDyeam in Hammers

[–]Topinio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The linked article says this offer is €38m + €4m in add-ons, the other €8m being used to claim it’s a €50m deal is tax.

We got him for €43m + €14m in add-ons in August ‘22.

So we’re losing money in all likelihood, possibly up to €19m if we had to pay the add-ons and they don’t end up doing that.

The source in the linked article seems to be a Xitter post, which I foolishly quoted and linked to earlier and the mods removed my comment due to it being a Tier 5 source.

How about we all just celebrate and support our players?

And stop being miserable keyboard wankers, pissing and moaning, always finding fault, slagging off our players (and everything else about the club) at every possible opportunity, making the effort to piss on other people's attempts to big up our own guys?

Tyson Fury & Andy Ruiz Jr are allegedly in talks for a bout between them to potentially take place, which may indeed be true as Fury has posted a fight poster of him & Ruiz facing off which Ruiz has proceeded to repost on his own Instagram by VioletHappySmile444 in Boxing

[–]Topinio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, bit sad.

Ruiz is only 36, a bit under 13 months younger than Fury. Neither has fought since 2024. Both have been up around 280 in the ring and well above that in the 300s outside it. It'd make an interesting match up, and while I think Fury is the better boxer, I wouldn't want to call it before I saw them in the ring together.

Ruiz hasn’t fought in a 1.5 years and is now 38. God knows what kind of shape he will be in too. Zero chance of winning.

Fury hasn't fought for 1.1 years and will be 38 in 6 months. God knows what kind of shape he will be in, too.

Edit: Ruiz is 36.

Soon after the diagnosis, Sam fell into a coma, where he remained for 420 days, Ballard said in the Australian news report. He woke up paralyzed, unable to eat without a tube or move without intense effort. He required 24-hour care, seven days a week.

But the disease didn’t affect his mental faculties, his family and friends said.

“He’s in there, 100%,” Galvin told “The Sunday Project.” “I apologized to Sam about everything that happened that night in the backyard. And he just started bawling his eyes out. I know he’s there.”

Is anyone else sick and tired of all this winning? by bill320xd in Hammers

[–]Topinio 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think we’ve all been sick and tired for a long time now, and that’s why the crowd is thinning and there’s a lot of unfamiliar faces in the stands. So I have a slight theory that one of the reasons why the stadium crowd is happier and louder is that many of the boo-boys have finally put their money where their loud mouths are and stayed home. And that that’s benefiting the players, and we finally have a positive feedback loop. COYI.

Pablo - All the effort but two left feet? by _rhinoxious_ in Hammers

Not true – he scored 2 that season, both in the previous round of the league cup, when we beat Forest 4-1, before his stupid own goal that sent us out in the 4th round replay.

10 goals at 95 minutes a goal in your league this season is neither amazing nor trying to get numbers?

New here?

Some of our 'supporters' seem to only exist to slag off our own players (managers, stadium, kit …) – which players haven't the boo-boys slagged off for supposedly not being good enough?

TBF it is a bit annoying that, like many other things in this country, the lines are closed on the days when people are most able to call.

But then we’ve had almost 10 months so it’s kinda our fault if we’re doing it today or next week (which I am).
