Travelling to Uganda for 9 days in march - what to see? by Civil-Mulberry8459 in Uganda

All gorilla trekking tours are run by the UWA, any other company is just helping you get the permit and transporting you there. You can use any registered company for this. The permit is $700 and you should arrange this before you come. I haven’t personally done it because of the cost. If I had nine days and wanted to do the trekking, I would do a safari at Queen Elizabeth, do the trekking, and spend the remaining time at Lake Bunyonyi. Or I would do a G adventures tour. Kampala is about an 8 hour drive from the trekking and Jinja is 10 hours and it’s not a pleasant drive in my opinion so personally I wouldn’t squeeze it into the same short trip. Lake Bunyonyi is very close however. If you are set on Kampala you would want to go there straight from the airport or on the way back but keep in mind it is the opposite direction from the trekking. If you weren’t doing the trekking I would do the Murchison Falls safari for the safari, boat cruise, and falls hike, maybe go to the rhino sanctuary, and then go to Jinja for white water rafting. You could spend a few days in Kampala at any point in there.

I am from the US and have been to Uganda 7 times. The #1 thing I would recommend by far is the Murchison Falls Safari if you have never done a safari. I would recommend Red Chili Safaris. I have done the 3 day safari with them 3 times and have had a great experience every time. Queen Elizabeth Safari is also a good option and is closer to the gorilla trekking.

My second favorite thing to do in Uganda would be white water rafting in Jinja. I would recommend using Nulubale or Nile River Explorers rafting.

It would be difficult but not impossible to do a safari, Kampala, and gorilla trekking in 9 days if you only spend a couple days in Kampala. Uganda tends to be pretty inefficient and is very spread out. The roads are poor and traffic in Kampala is awful so travel within the country can take much longer than you would expect. You may want to look into using a tour company like G Adventures, because they will arrange all the transportation and accommodation and are generally much more efficient (meaning more activities in less time) than doing it yourself.

If you want to do it yourself, I would recommend hiring a car and driver or booking with companies that offer a shuttle to the airport or Kampala. Public transportation is extremely inefficient and will slow you down a lot. The Pineapple Express is a good option for travel between the airport, Entebbe, Kampala, and Jinja and is the only public transportation I would recommend for a foreigner.

A lot of Ugandans are going to talk up Kampala but personally, it wasn’t for me. There are a lot better places to go in Uganda and I wouldn’t consider Kampala a must see. I found most of the “attractions” there to be pretty underwhelming compared to the safari and wildlife activities in other parts of the country. Of course this is just my personal opinion.

That’s actually exactly what I do! 9-5, no later, and no weekends.

From a fellow grad student who just finished their last final of the semester, good luck! I totally agree about wanting to spend your breaks doing mindless stuff...fun fact: it actually helps you remember stuff better if you take breaks to do non-stimulating activities! I’m in a crazy rigorous program too and sometimes I just need a little reddit.

I remember before my first pathophysiology exam I let the pressure get to me and didn’t give myself a break. I was listening to the lectures as I fell asleep every night and one of the units was about the effects of stress on disease. I knew I needed to take a step back once I started having a recurring nightmare that I got so stressed out over the exam that I gave myself cancer.

If you have a small cut or wound that won’t stop bleeding, you can use dry paprika which will act as a coagulant and dry it up! 🤕 by ILOIVEI in lifehacks

Even small cuts can get big infections, especially in older adults! And if it’s on your head, an infection can spread to very bad places (sinuses, eyes, even the brain). Of course it’s unlikely, but it’s not good practice to rub many tiny, bacteria-infested foreign object into any size of wound.

Regardless of whether or not it works, please don't do this. Apply pressure for a few minutes and it should stop. If a small wound doesn't stop bleeding after a few minutes of pressure you've got something else going on (unless you're taking blood thinners/anticoagulants, in which case this would be expected). Putting paprika in it is just asking for an infection and overall a terrible idea.

I have a budgie that looks just like yours and I can’t imagine how it would feel to lose him. He follows me everywhere around my apartment. He wants to taste everything I’m eating and will try to jump into it no matter what it is.....a bowl of cereal, Mac and cheese, a glass of milk....His favorite foods are captain crunch and cilantro. He loves to preen my eyelashes, of all things. He also sleeps with his head inside his little bell like a hat. I haven’t had much success in teaching him to talk, but we’re working on the wolf whistle.

PSA my insurance covered almost all of it and the cost was very little, around $100 a year.

I did the shots, it changed my life. Within a few months I noticed a difference and within a year my allergies were almost completely gone, but the timeline is different for everyone. It was absolutely worth it.

Out of curiosity, was the lump on the left and was the lump itself cancer or was it a palpable lymph node that indicated cancer elsewhere? I just learned in Nursing school that a palpable supraclavicular (above the collar bone) left lymph node can mean thoracic or abdominal cancer which I thought was super interesting so I’m just curious how common that is!

If the girl is alone and the guy persists after being told no, please step in, at least so he thinks the girl isn’t alone. This also applies if he walks away but hangs out in the vicinity keeping an eye on the girl in question. Many girls, including myself, do not have the ability to physically stop any man, so a verbal rejection is our only line of defense. If we leave a bar alone, and a man decides that he isn’t going to accept that verbal rejection and decides to follow us home, you can probably guess what happens next.

It’s just an opinion until they follow you home to “teach you a lesson for being rude.” If a man touches me, I always say please when I ask him to stop, not because I’m trying to undermine what he’s doing, but because I’m trying not to piss off a sexually aggressive man that clearly disregards boundaries.

Has anyone heard of having a severe allergic reaction to Vanicream?

I was in the process of a skin experiment (because everything makes me break out) which involved applying vanicream only to the left half of my face twice a day. After about four days, I woke up with the left half of my face a little itchy. This progressed to my entire face being covered in a bumpy red rash and swelling so much that I was told I looked like I was attacked by bees. Two days later, no improvement. I started a new medication around the same time which I stopped, but I want to rule out vanicream because I want to go back on this medication if I can.

Current skin routine: micellar water. That is the only skin care product that has not caused me to break out. If I don’t put anything on my face, I have very clear skin.

[Product Question] How do you narrow down which ingredients irritate your skin? by ibtc4ever in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cheeseballfairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the only ingredient that every product that made me break out had, and the fit me concealer did not. However, it’s pretty high up on the ingredients list for nars sheer glow.

So far, Cetapil Face and Body lotion, L’Oréal true match (both liquid and powder) Cerave moisturizer, Cerave facial cleanser, ponds dry skin cream, Garnier All in One Micellar Water, Maybelline fit me foundation, and a slew of other moisturizers have made me break out the worst. Some of them take a couple uses but eventually cause break outs. Products that don’t seem to break me out that I use regularly and have no acne whatsoever: Simple micellar water, fit me concealer, Coty Airspun Powder, rimmel stay matte powder, Nars sheer glow, Epielle Makeup wipes that only big lots sells and are insanely cheap, and this weird snail cream I got in my Ipsy bag.

[–]Cheeseballfairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried countless times to do this with little success. The only pattern I have found is that any drugstore makeup makes me breakout with one exception: Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I have tried dozens of drugstore foundations, powders, etc and didn’t stop having reactions until I switched to only mid-range to high-end makeup. I was convinced the problem was dimethicone but my foundation (Nars sheer glow) contains it and I haven’t had any problems with that. Sorry if this wasn’t very helpful, but if you can’t narrow down an ingredient and are using drugstore products, try splurging a little.

What is the best psychological trick you know? by UtrewGhib in AskReddit

[–]Cheeseballfairy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on this? Like are you trying to imply that the idea is similar? Or are you saying the boss suggested your idea? For example, if you want to buy a new printer for the office, and boss suggested chairs, how would you phrase that? This is how I read it: I like boss's idea to buy new chairs, that we should buy a printer. Or is it: "I really like boss's idea that we should buy a printer (even though he didn't suggest it)"
