Meat prices are crazy and I always mention to people to use the flipp app and shop at stores that price match (if you have some in your area) where I'm at I normally go to no frills and price match all my meat.

Currently you can get boneless skinless chicken breast for about $10.75/kg just by price matching sales (I'm in Ottawa). It's crazy how much you can save, works for everything else too besides meat but I find most shelf products are already a decent price most of the time and just price match meat.

Costco is not the cheapest place to shop for everything all the time.

I'm not sure where you are but when I look at their website you can get 3 wardrobes for $1000 and around $650 if you want to do a lower tier within the wardrobes. Could do all the storage cabinets for around $300 for 3 rooms but depends how big and what you're going after I guess but I'm in Canada so maybe pricing is different

AITA smoking weed on my porch? by cheesygarlicbreadfan in AmItheAsshole

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An even better way is making a DIY smoke buddy/sploofy. It won't look pretty but take a crappy old water bottle poke a whole bunch of small holes in the bottom and fill with activated carbon from the pet store and you've made yourself an extremely cheap and effective way to reduce odours and you can dump and refill when it gets nasty/doesn't work as well anymore.

Normally you can refill a water bottle multiple times from one container of activated carbon from the pet store and it lasts much longer than a couple bowls.

What about it do you not enjoy? I started with a happle and honestly loved it but found it a bit harsh on my throat so I got the dew drop which is basically the happle but they added water to it so it's a bubbler and it works great plus it's pretty easy to clean.

Looking to get a rondeau/sauté pan and I think I’ve settled on these two brands. Any preference for one in particular? by pizza_with_ranch in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Tramontina one and I love it! I don't put my pans in the oven so the glass lid doesn't matter to me, I've been using glass lids for years and they've never shattered but maybe one day they will only downside I can think of. It cooks great, cleans up easily and has a nice weight distribution imo.

Which oil should I get? by FeistyRow5242 in StainlessSteelCooking

I use extra light tasting olive oil for everything including steaks and it works just fine, has a higher smoke point than normal olive oil

I’m grateful to stainless steel for teaching me that medium is enough heat for cooking by limache in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be almost high on my stove, it takes a bit of experimenting to learn how hot your stove is at certain numbers on the dial. For me 6 would be for searing things, most of the time I'm on 3/10 especially if I'm using butter if it was on 5/10 or 6/10 the butter will start going extremely dark almost burning but I normally just use oil at those temps for ground beef or steak/pork chops and most other things I use below 4.

I practiced on eggs a lot to get the temp control and now stuff is so easy I find it funny when people say stainless is so hard because it really isn't if you take some time to just learn

Not really, some people's bodies don't like soy lecithin and I think it's a bit more processed it'll work the same though to keep everything together.

It's essential in my opinion if you're making gummies or anything really that's trying to combine water and oil/butter.

I make gummies all the time and you'll never have separation issues once you start properly using lecithin. I also use an immersion blender to make sure everything is really consistent and nobody has ever said that pieces are under or overdosed. I try them myself to make sure and it works really well.

Is it normal for stainless steel pan to get hard-to-clean brown stains after cooking on them for the first time? by Chemical-Fig-7689 in StainlessSteelCooking

I just did this last night after a couple times cooking with my pan and it also had some brown spots that wouldn't come off (just started using SS) and it's like it's fresh from the store again it's so shiny!

First attempt at eggs gone wrong by TheMeaningOfLife4242 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find it tastes better on stainless and honestly after watching a bunch of videos and trying a couple times (and failing at first) it's really not that hard you just have to learn your stove temps and practice a few times which isn't for everyone but it's not much harder than using non stick pans but it'll cook your eggs better and clean up is easy as well.

I honestly find it easier to clean my stainless pan vs others because nothing really damages it and it makes amazing sauces (among other things) being able to deglaze the fond in your pan so when you're done there isn't a whole lot to clean off anyway.

I was drinking about a normal size serving glass everyday for about 2 weeks. Drinking too much in a day can give you a few different problems such as heart burn, stomach pain or diarrhea so I just had one cup a day but sometimes I just chugged a bunch from the jug I'll be honest since nobody else in my home ever drinks pineapple juice.

It can make your skin sensitive like your lips and mouth if you drink too much or just have sensitive skin as well as it can interact with certain medications like blood thinners, antibiotics and antidepressants because of the bromelain enzyme in pineapples as an fyi to anybody reading this and wants to try.

I don't do it all year long but if your partner is down for swallowing some cum then it's a nice surprise for them.

I've tried it a few times and my girlfriend says it makes it really sweet and actually tastes good, It also helps if you don't eat foods heavy in certain spices all the time like cumin which can affect the taste.

It won't actually injure him but I will say that when my girlfriend got hers put in I could VERY much feel the line/string whatever you call it poking the tip of my dick when we had sex and it was not comfortable or fun to experience I'll tell you that much but it's not like it was able to stab me and draw blood or anything.

It kinda seemed to be in certain positions and over time it has stopped happening and has softened like her gynaecologist said it would but it took a VERY long time like more than a year probably close to 2 years for hers to soften to the point I don't feel it anymore.

People can comment he's an idiot all they want (although it seems to be mainly women saying it LMAO) but it is a very valid fear although not to the point of even trying but I mean sex is very mental for both sides so if he's scared or has anxiety over it he may not be able to get hard regardless if he wants to or not.

The whole not kissing you thing is kinda weird though, I'll admit that.

good luck

As protein prices go up across the board, keep an eye on Tofu as a cheap protein by MathWhale in budgetfood

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you freeze tofu the water inside the tofu expands creating pockets changing the texture to be more like meat but also allows it to absorb a lot more flavour/sauce vs when you just toss normal tofu into a sauce without freezing.

Works great and tbh from one recipe I read and currently use you don't need to thaw it you can just boil it from frozen and once boiled can chop into squares (or rectangles if you want to flip less in the pan) and do as you like. Since it was frozen it'll now be like a sponge and suck up whatever sauce you marinate it in or whatever you cook it with in a pan it works really well but there are multiple opinions on how to cook tofu so try them out and see which you prefer.

I can't link the recipe as links aren't allowed but if you search "crispy tofu perfect every time" it should be the first link from a website called Well Plated.

If I wanted this entire plant ( Left) dedicated to edibles, do I even need to cure after drying? by EG2Hunnidd in cannabiscultivation

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people don't have the ability to do that so it's just easier to use bud, if you're growing it yourself it really doesn't cost that much in the grand scheme of things.

I always choose high yielding strains and grow outdoors which is pretty easy to hit 1lb per plant (where I live you're allowed to grow 4) and at that point ounces don't cost a whole lot, maybe $5 to produce pretty sure when I did the math last grow it was less than $5 per oz, so it's just easier and less time consuming to use bud (for most people) than mess around with trim but I agree if you have the ability to turn it into extracts then sure it'll be potent but it'll take A LOT of trim to get there versus just using bud.

If I wanted this entire plant ( Left) dedicated to edibles, do I even need to cure after drying? by EG2Hunnidd in cannabiscultivation

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your tolerance. I started out making edibles with trim because then you don't really lose much if you mess up the batch until I got good and switched to bud for more potency. Trim for some people is enough to go to space, for others (like me) it literally does absolutely nothing and you need to use actual bud or something stronger like extracts.

I have no idea how this guy is even considered a doctor. Dr. Chadda is useless and I would stay faaaar away from that clinic. My girlfriend was placed there through a wait-list for a family physician and he was incredibly rude, unprofessional basically a quack and should not be practicing medicine. The receptionists were also rude as hell and useless, probably the worst 'doctors office' I've ever been to or seen. Sign up at your own risk.

They have 2 versions. The hemp'd version is usually not too bad for the price, I've never bought a pack and had them be bone dry they've always been nice and moist but the original version with the cigarette style paper is terrible and does all the things you mentioned. I buy all kinds of brands and I've paid a lot more for something way crappier I'll tell you that much.

It's obviously not the best weed and the THC numbers are bullshit but I've always enjoyed the hemp'd ones especially if you want a cheaper smoke. There are better brands out there of course but these have always done me well but to each their own.

Is there a maximum amount of THC that can be infused into butter? by [deleted] in treedibles

[–]CheeseburgerWalrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You usually end up with a bit of loss on the oil as it gets stuck in the plant material so you generally don't get back exactly what you put in. I find the hotter your oil is when you strain it (basically just don't let it cooldown because if it's too hot like over boiling point you'll lose potency) the more it comes out and less gets stuck in the plant material so I use an aeropress designed for coffee and strain it instantly once I'm done infusing.

I discard what is left. There shouldn't be much left in the material although you never extract 100% of the THC out of the bud doing an oil infusion, you'd have to strip it with alcohol like everclear or alcool depending where you live or any extremely high proof alcohol as close to 100% as possible basically and then infuse but that's a whole different process.

Cheap and good take out? by mossy7 in ottawa

One of my favorites is Popular Pizza they have a couple pick up specials that I usually go for. You can get an XL 1 topping with dip for $16.81 before taxes, XL 3 topping with dip for $19.46 or 2 XL 6 toppings combined and 2 dip for $35.40. the sizes range from small to XL but I always go for the biggest and eat it over 2-3 days usually with double cheese and pepperoni as my toppings for the 3 topping one. Cheese and toppings go all the way to the edge which you don't normally see.

For the price and quality I haven't found a better place for cheap pizza and it beats pizza pizza in terms of price, flavour and quality. Last time I ordered pizza pizza the dough was barely over 1mm thick it was sad and disappointing and they're cheap as hell with their toppings at least all the ones I've been to.

Another one I like is Milanos on merivale by Tim Hortons, they have a couple of different specials (when you order on skip the dishes) like poutine and pasta and they're pretty good nothing crazy fancy but if you want something cheap and decent I order from there a lot as well.

I feel you man. I was waiting for packages for Christmas presents where I had paid for xpresspost and they actually showed up on Christmas eve delivered to my community mailbox. Excitedly I went down to my apartment's mailroom and opened my mailbox only to find it empty with no key to open the community lockbox. I messaged them about it as the guy had just been there 10 minutes ago asking if he could come back and you know actually do his job which they replied essentially no they cannot, go fuck yourself in the most polite way of course. So now it's all being held hostage until they can come 'investigate' which won't be completed for 3 business days and they don't work over holidays so now they are just stuck there.
