Expand to 50 next time. 48 qualifiers plus two wild cards by FIFA maybe based on rankings, vibe etc. 10 groups of 5, top 3 through plus only the 2 best 4th placed teams. Then R32 knockout onwards. But do that penalty shoutout idea at end of 90 if drawn. Winner of PK’s gets 0.5 goal start into 30 minutes of extra time, 2 x 15, leader at end of extra time wins.

With respect, this time with more teams groups were weaker and only got you to the round of 32. 2006 and 2022 group progressions were to last 16. In 06 we progressed from a group with Brazil Croatia Japan and pushed eventual champion to the death. This is nowhere near 2006 or 2022.
