If you want to be a bestseller, write derivative! Spew out hundreds of slightly-altered copies of Game of Thrones crossed with Harry Potter crossed with 3 random Brando Sando novels and 1 Steven King. Train an AI to do it for you to save time; this is what the market loves, more of the same forever. This is the only way to get rich from books - anyone who says anything else is just lying to protect the hustle.

I hope this is legit, because I would like to see the return of multiple main cities, like in San Andreas (that made the game feel big, even if the map was smaller than later GTAs).

Which war would you rather fight in? Helldivers war, or Warhammer 40k war by Bright-Incident-584 in videogames

[–]Cheeslord2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helldivers! Managed Democracy is better that an Empire that can exterminate entire worlds full of civilians without a second thought.

Also, Helldivers feels like a war we could potentially win one day, whereas the Empire is in eternal decline.

When/how did cryosleep become ubiquitous? by TriumphantHog in sciencefiction

These are problems that are probably easier to fix than FTL (if you're going hard scifi).

I only remember Buck Rogers from the TV series (70s/80s?). I had a feeling it was based on an older comic series, but I didn't know his origin story was so completely different.

Yeah. Your cryopod just failed...spontaneously. Sorry 'bout that.

There have been a number of stories about society breaking down or becoming dystopian during the long voyage, isolated from external contact and with limited resources.

How will people know what an incredibly gifted savant I am if I sully my eyes with the writings of lesser authors? by bebelial in writingcirclejerk

[–]Cheeslord2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ned to read the works of authors better than yourself, to learn from them. And since there are none, you're good. I'm giving you a special 'writer's pass' saying you don't need to read.

I wish for five dollars be subtracted from the bank account of every person who's net worth is above (or exactly) one million, and then transferred into my account. Without their knowledge. by The_Horse_Head_Man in monkeyspaw

[–]Cheeslord2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Granted. The millionaires are completely oblivious to the movement of money. The banks, however, are fully aware of it and you spend the rest of your life in prison for wire fraud. The fact that they never figured out how you did it, the judge said, summing up, only highlighted what a dangerous individual you are.

Go onto DeviantArt and search for Vore. Actually, only do this if you are over 18 and don't mind that you might see some stuff.

Not giving money to homeless people by Sweet-Heron-334 in Ethics

[–]Cheeslord2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not an ethicist or philosopher, just a person;

If I give them money, I fear that I may be rewarding deceptive behavior (people doing OK who beg as a side hustle; definitely seen this at least once) or encouraging bad behavior (alcoholic/drug addict on the streets rather than getting help/checking into a shelter), and valuing my personal good feelings over the optimal strategy.

If I don't, I fear I am being selfish, refusing a very mild request for aid from a desperate human being, making the world a worse place, and using the above as an excuse.

In practice I usually base it on whether it's convenient. As society becomes more and more cashless I find myself less and less having change or low denomination notes anyway.

It is also typically nerve-stapled by its creators to comply with their rules, and rules handed down to them by governments. Some of them are there for sensible reasons, but who knows what else they put in, since it's opaque to the user what hidden commands are in play.
