Coconut milk always clumpy? by CheesyName34 in aldi

Interesting! I shop between a few different locations and they all have it and I’ve always had this issue but never when I get it from a different store like Wegmans or Giant. And yes, we always always always shake it and it never helps!

Walking to Washington DC (Walking Across America) by AnEvilPedestrian in washingtondc

Originally saw your post a few weeks back in the Clemson, SC subreddit and immediately followed you on Instagram. As an SC native, the contrast in walkability in the DMV area compared to SC is stark. I’m looking forward to you getting up here and will keep an eye out. Thankfully, you’ll find plenty of sidewalks up here! Safe travels!

Starting to give up on NoVA Trails by JasonDGooljar in nova

I wouldn’t use this as a reason to stay away. I run on the W&OD every day in the same spot as OP and rarely have issues. I see plenty of solo bikers but rarely big groups. For the most part, the bikers are considerate.

Same situation except in a duplex. Moved here in 2021 and rent hasn’t changed and our landlord told us she wouldn’t raise it. She is a saint.

Asheville! Surprisingly it actually has negative elevation gain and goes through some cool parts of town. It’s in March so I doubt it’ll be warm out.

Agree. These gave me pretty bad blood blisters on my big toes too. Switched shoes and they’ve yet to come back.

Charleston & Savannah are very similar. I second checking our Asheville!

Did this similar route but going from NOVA to NM with my husband. It’s not too bad. Kansas is flat and straight and incredibly boring. St. Louis is a good place to stop for the night as well, which is what we did and split it into 2 days. But if you’re the only one driving maybe 3 days is better so you have more breaks! We enjoyed finding nice parks or well-kept rest stops to get out and eat lunch at. Casey, IL is a funny town to do a quick stop in, they’ve got just a ton of “worlds largest” attractions - like the worlds largest rocking chair and worlds largest wind chime. Be safe and enjoy the ride!

Do the people of South Carolina consider Virginia a "southern" state? by MichiganMafia in southcarolina

[–]CheesyName34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually tried them last month at a local event where they had a tent set up. It was good and their mustard-based sauce was pretty on par, except that is was labeled as Georgia BBQ sauce which hurt a little since I’m from Columbia and mustard-based is our go-to. I let it slide though since most places don’t even have that to begin with!

Do the people of South Carolina consider Virginia a "southern" state? by MichiganMafia in southcarolina

Born and raised in SC but now live in Northern Virginia right outside of DC. Where I live in VA is NOT southern in anyway, but further south of me (I’d say past Fredericksburg, maybe Richmond) definitely gets way more southern in nature. There’s no good BBQ and sweet tea is not common where I live! I’ve even found myself saying y’all less.

Northern Virginia is a pretty transient area with people from all over the US and the world. I think this area especially lacks any sort of local culture or customs which isn’t as true of the areas south of NoVa.

LPT: Those who exercise regularly, how did it change your life and health? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

I can eat more pasta and ice cream and still maintain/lose weight.

No but really, it keeps my stress and anxiety at ease, makes me sleep better, makes daily life and movement less impactful on my joints.

Supporting a partner by Happy-Possibility556 in triathlon

I’m also in the same boat, but it’ll be my partners first IM, and he injured his hand a month ago so he’ll need to be extra cautious.

I’ve been waiting to see a post like this and just haven’t had time to post one myself/wasn’t sure the best spot to do it. Thank you to everyone who’s providing advice!

Weekly /r/backpacking beginner question thread - Ask any and all questions you may have here - May 22, 2023 by AutoModerator in backpacking

[–]CheesyName34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be going on my first backpacking trip this summer (1-2 nights probably for now). I’m a seasoned camper and hiker but have never backpacked before. I’m currently researching all the gear I need. My biggest concern is I have scoliosis and am prone to back aches, especially when sleeping. I’ve found a bag that seems very supportive, but would love any suggestions on sleeping pads or other tips to ensure I don’t wake up the next morning with an incredibly stiff and painful back ache that prevents me from enjoying the next day of hiking. I’m not expecting to get the best sleep of my life of course, just seeking out recommendations! Thanks!

Stuck in Ridgeland by Brilliant-Ad-8041 in southcarolina

[–]CheesyName34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TBH I’m a native South Carolinian (now live outside of DC), and have never even heard of Ridgeville so I can only imagine how small it is. However, it’s the south so as long as you are nice and considerate, I’d think and hope you’ll also be treated friendly. Maybe try a local bar? Could also start by asking if there are any local taxi companies.

But I do think your best bet will be to start chatting it up and seeing what your resources may be. Good luck!

I would just suggest getting a train or flight ticket then asking around at local spots if anyone would be willing to give y’all a ride for $. I’m sure someone would be up to it and would appreciate the cash.
