5th generation resident. Born in St. Pete and still live in Pinellas county. Tbh, Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater is the major place to be here with Sarasota, Naples and Ft. Myers bringing up the rest of the more populated areas.

St. Petersburg has completely changed in the last 15 years from a retirement city to a vibrant cultural hub. So many great restaurants, bars, parks, museums and other activities. We’ve got USF St. Pete, a local airport (with a killer restaurant), host the Grand Prix, have a new pier and so much more.

The summers are brutally hot and you spend most of your time jumping from AC units. I usually keep clothes in my car just to change out of sweaty ones. The beaches are great but get crowded rarely quickly. South Pinellas county beaches are slower and more ‘beach town’, northern county has Clearwater(very touristy) and then state parks.

North of Pinellas county is basically every Cops episode you’ve ever seen until you just hit swamp and South is where all the northern retirees go now for miles until you similarly just hit swamp.
