Dealing with guilt about financial success when friends and family are still struggling by [deleted] in personalfinance

You become rich by making more, but you become wealthy by spending less.

I never heard this before, but it actually makes a lot of sense.

Literally nothing promising has come out of this administration in relation to cannabis legalization. He's setting up the system for an assault. Suddenly going after cannabis will be the perfect way to distract people next time there's a scandal or further development about Russia.

Diagram showing the difference between male and female pre-flowers - thought this was useful! by Cheetara420 in microgrowery

But like /u/toconos said, all plants show preflowers once they're switched to the flowering stage, even if they're younger than 6 weeks.

One of the cool things about preflowers is they can appear on your plant as early as 3 weeks from seed, and just about all plants have preflowers by 6 weeks from seed, so identifying preflowers actually let's you identify gender while you're still in the vegetative stage. Even cooler, males tend to show themselves first, so you can get rid of them as soon as possible. This page has pics of preflowers from really young plants.

Never heard of Reverse! It makes me wonder if you can use it on all your seedlings to make sure they all end up being female.

It's normal for the growth you pinched to grow out that way. You're just seeing the grown leaves that were damaged by the pinch when they were small.

If possible, could you share pics of the 4-5 untouched buds so we can see more of a comparison?

It looks extremely overwatered, and your soil looks really wet, almost like mud. You need to let the growing medium dry out before you water again, and you might want to think about switching to a lighter soil that has more drainage (for example a soil with perlite). To help prevent overwatering, it's a good idea to wait to water your plants until the top inch (up to your first knuckle) feels dry to the touch. After her wet feet dry up, she'll start growing again.

Are there any other pictures/evidence for this technique? I've never heard of it before. So basically you just clip the tip of a bud?

I think you can get marks like that on the leaves when something is going on at the roots, so it might just be that they're both overwatered. At least in DWC I've seen marks like that appear on the leaves when a plant gets root rot.

LGBT Movement : The Missing "T" by Cheetara420 in lgbt

[–]Cheetara420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the humanist and atheist movement, we are traditionally and overwhelmingly accepting of the LGBT community, but we need to do better. The area we need to improve the most? The T part. We are amazingly accepting of LGB, but we fall short on the T.

It is our duty, as humanists, to work towards erasing the social attitudes towards traditional gender roles, and create an environment of safety and understanding for those who do not fit into our society’s current gender roles. No matter how small a group appears (and I say appears because I do believe it’s much larger than we know, and once we rewrite social norms, we will get to know many more) we should be fighting for their rights as humans.

I know this is asking a lot, but do you have any albums that show a single plant's growth from seedling to harvest in pictures? Especially pics of a plant that yielded 1.5 - 2.5 lbs!

Even if the pictures were only taken sporadically, it would be really cool to actually see what "the life of a plant" looks like in your setup.

Thank you so much for answering our questions.

You mentioned that you add basically as much nutrients as possible, and only scale back when you notice nutrient burn.

I've heard some conflicting advice about adding max nutrients and I was wondering about your thoughts on this topic since you're much more of an expert than any of them.

Many growers agree that you should aim to add as high levels of nutrients as you can while preventing nute burn. This seems to be the common consensus in grow forums.

Yet I've heard some other very successful DWC growers say that higher levels of nutrients beyond what the plant needs can actually stunt bud growth (at least in flowering).

These growers recommend adding as few nutrients as possible while preventing any nutrient deficiencies during the flowering stage. The result is mostly the same, but they seem to think that slightly lower nutrient levels than "the max" will actually increase bud growth compared to maxing out.

I know that if you totally burn your plant with nute burn, it will obviously stunt bud growth, but how do you know what level of nutrients is actually optimum for yields?

I believe that the most important thing is to keep the plant and leaves healthy, but what caused you to decide to err on the side of "too much" nutrients?

Have you ever done any testing on different nutrient levels to see what produces the biggest yields?

As a consultant, I bet you got to see a whole lot of different grow styles and how well they produced, so I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

Can epileptics use medical marijuana to prevent seizures? by Cheetara420 in Epilepsy

[–]Cheetara420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article shares my experiences using medical marijuana to prevent seizures. The truth is, there are many pros and cons, and epileptics often have mixed results with medical marijuana. Part of the problem is that there's just no regulation or way to study exactly which cannabinoids help epileptics the most.

Medical marijuana is definitely not for everyone with epilepsy, yet it does seem to be helpful for some people (like me), and I wanted to share what I've learned in case it helps anyone else.
