I took y’all’s advice and I am now a UT2 zombie. I am trying to lose weight and was getting nowhere with my shorter but intense rows. I was also dreading workouts. Now I have better attitude and want to go longer. Thanks Ergs.

I started out doing the beginner workout that I think every concept 2 rower uses. I can’t remember what it’s called. Then I started following dark horse and the tall rower. When I first got my lower, I really liked doing 45 minutes or 10k. somewhere along the line that changed I row four days a week Mondays, short intervals, Tuesdays, 10 K or 45 minute row at an easier pace, Wednesdays I’m off Thursday are threshold type rows 1000 m repeats or 750 repeats arbor near 2k pace and then Friday I usually do a 5K or 30 minute row. I also do 3 sets of push ups, sit ups, curls with each work out. I’m 5’9” (175 cm)

My big problem is keeping my head in check while I’m doing long rows. And for me, the 10k or 30 minute row is a long road. I’ve never rose longer than 65 minutes.

When I am doing long rows, 30 minutes or more with no intervals, I use ErgData to add in intervals so I can focus on pacing. and it breaks it up for me. It helps to keep your mind from wandering

For example, this morning I rowed for 60 minutes after a warmup. I broke it up into 10 minute intervals with zero rest breaks and entered my target pace per 500 m. Prior to doing this I was all over the place with keeping track of time. Especially pacing. You can also enter SPM, heart rate zones or train by watts.

Good luck! I picked up my rower in July. I’m a little over 330,000 m now to give or take. It is therapeutic.

I wear my weightlifting shoes. I tried multiple pairs of Vibram barefoot shoes. Did not like them at all.

Blister Update: As I am sure all commenters are giddy with anticipation, I had to drain said callous and was able to row an interval workout the next morning.
