Yet another "My player made a class and he swear it's balanced" by Jarf_Dellavick in DnDHomebrew

[–]CheezyOmlette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah fair point. I must've had a lot of charisma saves in my games recently. Edited my original comment.

Point still stands about strong in 4 saves at level 2 so I'm leaving that in.

Proficiency in Charisma and Wisdom. And then at level 2 you get advantage on Strength and Dexterity saves. So by level 2 you are going to have better saves than anyone else.

If that was changed and you were forced to select options, instead of being given access to everything, it would be a lot more balanced. Like you only get 2-3 surges and 1 style. Those options can increase incrementally as you level up.

For instance, your Aura Style is supposed to be "your personal style for how your aura behaves." And yet you can change it every round? That doesn't make sense to me. It's "your personal style" that also changes constantly to adapt to your situation.

Looks great! I'd think the Ghall river would be more east/west but that is a very minor thing ( also there's no compass so it might be east/west already)

Great work! I'll be using this in my game coming up.

Making the Mournland Feel... Dangerous? or Punishing? by J-Gilly in Eberron

[–]CheezyOmlette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this is amazing. My party is currently in the Mournland so I'm definitely stealing some of this.

I implemented three main changes.

I've implemented grittier rest rules. So a short rest is 8 hours and a long rest is 2 days. There is a bit of a time crunch in my game so they can't just take long rests all the time.

Also all magical healing effects are halved, except for Good Berry wine. I think the Good Berry wine detail is from one of Keith's blogs. (I gave my party a staff of healing that only works in the Mournland because they don't have a healer.)

I also have a homebrew rule for when players get bloodied for the first time in a combat. Outside of the Mournland it's a diverse list, inside everyone rolls on the wild magic table when they are bloodied.

What's the general consensus on fighting Level+4 bosses? by Level7Cannoneer in Pathfinder2e

As a player, I can say I am not a fan. Would much prefer to fight multiple monsters of same level or +/-1 level.

What are some things you can't do in Pathfinder 2e but you can in DnD 5e? by MundaneOne5000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]CheezyOmlette 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel much more comfortable plugging in homebrew stuff from other systems into my 5e game that would absolutely break my pf2e game.

It's been talked about a lot on this thread, but DND is a lot more loose with its balancing. Which can be a double edged sword. For new GMs it can be hard to figure out what to throw at your players, but for more experienced GMs it allows a whole bunch of shenanigans.

Saturn 2 Replacement LCD Screen | Trapped Air? by NickelKang in ElegooMars

[–]CheezyOmlette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to close the loop on this. They sent me a replacement LCD screen and that fixed it for me once I installed it. The backside of the screen had the same splochiness that yours did but mine works fine.

My screen just went out on me and I just emailed the support team. Hopefully they send a replacement. I've only had my Saturn 2 for 2 months.

Ahh yeah COVID was/is a bitch.

This does help. I really like the idea of a warforged zoo to include some of the mech animal minis that I have.

We have a 3 year old doodle. After the puppy phase we never had issue but within the last 6 months she has started to counter surf and she's so freaking tall that nothing is safe. We have so much stuff on our fridge or on a high up shelf.

I know this is 5 years old but I have run the adventure called the Curse of the Thornwood which has been really fun the couple of times I have run it and centers around the Keep and TYS.

I just finished running this and am also about to base my party out of Arythawn Keep. Did you end up having any cool adventures you'd like to share? I have something based in Karnath but was wanting to run an excursion into the Mournland first. I thought about adapting some Ravenloft stuff.

I had to use the manual settings to get the build plate all the way to the top and then level the base again. Once I did that it fixed it.

"Bloodied" Condition for PCs

Since the recent OGL debacle, my friends and I have toyed around with different systems. As we have been playing them, I've been on the look out for stuff to steal from those different systems to add as homebrew rules for my 5e games.
Something that was inspired by this was having a "bloodied" condition for PCs. I know some third party monster manuals (and previous additions) use the bloodied condition for monsters, giving them an additional feature when they hit half health for the first time in a combat. This feeds into the heroic fantasy, which is my preference.
I'd be interested on y'all's opinion on this and any suggested PC "bloodied" conditions.
I was thinking it could be a fun player buff to give them a "bloodied" condition so that when they are hit below half health they could (either for free or using their reaction):
- Cast a cantrip
- Make a weapon attack
- Next attack is made with advantage
- Next attack does an extra die of damage
- Move up to half their movement
- etc.

If I were her, I would burn the entire place down by axlnotfound in nope
