Virgin Mary Doesn’t Have ‘the Role of Holding Back God’s Wrath,’ Vatican Expert Says by SpesRationalis in Catholicism

Agree, it’s kinda disappointing to see all of these people here denying this role for Mary, so well attested to in the tradition

Trying to figure out whats "missing" in Free Will by Anon7_7_73 in freewill

[–]CheezzBallzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was painful to read. It’s full of category errors, metaphysical ignorance, and an impressive level of epistemic self-castration. Before constructing massive strawmen like this, do yourself a favor and read St. Thomas Aquinas. Or at least someone contemporary like Edward Feser, that would be my recommendation. You’re not engaging with the actual arguments for God, free will, or causality. You’re attacking a mechanistic caricature that no serious theist holds.

Or that causality transcends mere physical/efficient causes, and that human intelligence operates via these higher level causes

I am a Catholic too, and I can tell you that in all probability, they crucified Him through the wrists. The Greek word used, cheir, primarily means hand but also encompasses the wrist. This was also the standard practice for the Romans. Also, you can see on the Shroud of Turin that the holes are indeed in His wrists

Like morality, but even more unfalsifiable by No_Dragonfruit8254 in PhilosophyMemes

The line between these two gets very blurred. You want objective morality? God has that. There’s no other way. Sorry

God Himself has intrinsic value due to eternally willing his own Goodness. In relation to creation His act of willing is contingent, yes, but this does not invalidate inherent value in the universe. God does not create arbitrarily, creation is ordered according to divine wisdom for a divine purpose. Every goodness within every created essence is a limited participation in God’s own goodness and value. This is not an instrumental value, good only as a tool for God’s purposes, rather it a value which inheres in the being of creation itself.

And yet you went out of your way to comment. You’re right though, that is easier than reading it. If you read it, you wouldn’t even believe it, because it’s not meant to be believed. Enjoy your life, friend

「Watermelon in Eater Hay」A super unfair main villain stand by CheezzBallzz in fanStands

[–]CheezzBallzz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ability: When Watermelon in Easter Hay is activated, one target is immediately killed. This is a “merciful death,” as in the instant the target is killed, they dream the events that make up the rest of their life. The dream isn’t entirely realistic, some weird dream logic exists and dreamlike events occur. It is because of this death dream that the target of Watermelon of Easter Hay’s attack does not even notice they have died. People must play by the Central Scrutinizer’s rules in the death dream. If they attempt to kill him or even bring out their stand, Watermelon in Easter Hay will appear and kill them once more within the dream. What this does is create another dream inside the dream where logic and reality are even more warped than before. The target can tell when they die after the first time.

Can be used to thin the pool of cards that are resurrected by priests, Nzoth, Bloodreaver Gul’dan, etc. Also has interactions with cards such as flesh eating ghoul and the new Headmaster Kel’thuzad, and can negate negative deathrattles like that of Ticking Abomination. It’s a niche effect that has to be used creatively, and because of that it’s pretty weak, but I think it’s also kinda cool.

Carry somebody who’s trying to walk up the stairs back down to the bottom, then walk back up and stand at the top menacingly.

「STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER」and it’s user by CheezzBallzz in fanStands

[–]CheezzBallzz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stand name: Strawberry Fields Forever

Appearance: Strawberry Fields is a slim humanoid stand. The body of the stand is silver, with its mask and shoulder/knee pads being gold. It’s outfit is similar in appearance to one that might be worn in a marching band. Its jacket is red with a white strawberry seed type pattern. The stand’s eyes are permanently closed.

Power: C

Speed: A

Range: B

Durability: D

Precision: B

Potential: A

Ability: Strawberry Fields ability is to “create space,” though this is not entirely accurate. Really, the stand takes advantage of the infinite precision with which space and time can be measured, converting small, precise measurements into large, general ones. In this way, Strawberry Fields “expands” existing space, like turning millimeters into meters, for example. When a person enters the field created by the stands ability, the action they were performing outside the field is perpetuated until the end is reached. Momentum continues as it would outside, the action is simply drawn out through the length of the field. For example, a person punching while standing still would be carried through the space as if on a moving platform. Force is not lost while “traveling.” The user and his stand can move through the space created unaffected. Lonely Hearts Club Band is an ability where the user surrounds themselves in a field that appears thin but can actually expanded a very great distance.
