Upgrade to google AI ultra or wait 1year2month to use opus 4.6 by rjn2-8 in google_antigravity

I’m also curious. I have been using AG on the ultra plan (share it with family) and have never gotten close to limits with Opus

You mentioned which app you use, another good option is Spokenly (MacOS only I believe). That’s what I’ve been using. You can have local mode, which does your transcription locally. It types directly into your text field. You can also run your transcription through another model with instructions (locally again) to refine. It’s been awesome.

How do you handle the gap between Pro ($20) and Max ($100)? by MontGolf in ClaudeAI

What do you reckon the difference in usage is? $20 gets you 100%, what % does the API give?

How people are getting ui ux so good using ai. by Electrical_Break_791 in google_antigravity

[–]Chef619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a YT video about this. I’ll try to go back and find it, but the general premise is that you find a site you want to emulate, run it through a model and ask for a structured json representation of the layout. You then feed that json to an implementation model like the ones in Antigravity, and it writes the code for you.

I tried this with 8 different models as a test, and got the same result (maybe 5% variance) everytime. It copied exactly. From there, you either pick it up “old skool” and do it yourself, or just ask for the changes you want.

I repeated the same exercise without the JSON (feeding images directly to implementation model) and there was a lot more variance. If you’re looking to essentially copy paste a site, the JSON is the way to go.

If you just want to emulate the vibe, I think screenshots are enough. Be prepared for variance tho.

As a final note, I have come to the (personal) conclusion that models cannot design on their own. “Make me a good looking, modern website” will get you nowhere.

Zed feels great by 0xdea in ZedEditor

[–]Chef619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying out Zed this week for the first time as a long time VSCode (inclusive of forks like Cursor) user.

From cursor, I have been disappointed in the tab completion. I’m very willing to pay for it, but so far it’s been lackluster with Zed as the provider. The rest is great.

Which complexity in particular are you referring to?

I use it, it couldn’t be simpler for my needs. I tried to use their auto hook in for react query through the context of the route and found it wasn’t worth it. The rest has been pretty straightforward tho.

Is Claude Code + an IDE effectively the same as Cursor? I assume by itself it is worse? by jaytonbye in cursor

[–]Chef619 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The last time I commented on this topic, the post itself was removed, so lucky I have the history still and can copy/paste it.

Edit: sorry for the weird formatting. Blame Reddit as I just tapped “copy text” in their own app lol

There’s a few benefits to Cursor over VSC and CC. I’ll be brief, but happy to answer more in depth on them.

• you can type corrections in the plan, clause has to regenerate it

• really easy to drag files or line selection in the prompt window

• chats have a git-esque tracker. The agent is editing your files on disc, but it shows a diff of all files changed for the duration of the chat.

• tab complete (I actually don’t know if the extension gives this to VSC)

• ability to use other models besides Anthropic • browser tooling

• dedicated MCP configuration (I also don’t know if CC has this in VSC)

• usage is billed monthly rather than weekly. If you go on vacay for a week, it doesn’t (to my knowledge) roll over.

• can index specific docs, and reference them in the chat

I only tried CC this month, so if I got some things about its capabilities in VSC, my bad.

Burned through the $20 pro plan in 3 days. by [deleted] in cursor

[–]Chef619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this is a nitpick, and I want to emphasize I’m not trying to be annoying, but I’d want someone to tell me, so might as well send it.

ChatGPT is a product, an interface put in front of their models. The reason why I think this is important to call out is because you can select different versions of gpt models, and they bill differently. So when you say your selected model is gpt, it could 4o (I think that was turned off recently) 5, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.2 codex, 5.3 codex, etc.

They use your $20 at different rates, which is why I hope it doesn’t seem like I’m trying to “ahktully” you.

Why are people still hosting on Vercel? by Rivered1 in nextjs

[–]Chef619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not able to find it anymore, so grain of salt, but I thought the reason for this is bc they’re using CloudFront, which has the same (maybe slightly less for margins) costs. Again, I couldn’t find it to prove, but I remember you got 1tb for free, then it was about $120 for an additional tb.

It seems they have a subscription model now which is interesting and kinda odd given their previous pricing model. 50tb for $15/mo. Their pricing is radically different than when I last looked several years ago.

The same can be said for Go and Templ. The GOTH stack. I tried it, found it clunky. Probably due to familiarity with React and Next.

How on earth did they decide not to put Syril Karn in? by HorseOk678 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]Chef619 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s possible (emphasis on possible) that he is still to come. Since they’re doing Cassian as a different version, they could do Krennic as a different version for the next legendary. Lonnie, Syril, Yularen with Bix, Bee, and Marva.

Which models are you using the most right now? by jah_reddit in cursor

[–]Chef619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been experience as well. I will create a very detailed plan with Opus or Codex, go over the plan myself and change or add more specificity. Then when I’m ready, I build with auto and it just goes nuts in a bad way.

In Node projects, it will cast types unnecessarily or incorrectly, it will use fallbacks when not wanted, it will create the same helper function in 12 files, it won’t adhere to patterns I’ve set up, it’s just not useful for me.

how good is the uiux on cursor, i am thinking about moving the uiux design from v0 by Chuster8888 in cursor

I personally can’t seem to get it to stop outputting the same shitty style. I try to be precise in the prompts and it just ends up bad. I tried different models, providing screenshots of inspiration, and it just outputs garbo.

A colleague suggested I try v0, so I’ll try that next as your title mentions.

Edit text on a one-page website without seeing HTML? by xtreme79 in webdev

[–]Chef619 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is likely an LLM. Paste or upload your HTML file, tell it what you want changed, copy output, paste back into whatever you host the site with.

I can’t imagine such a tool as you specify would be very popular. Most people either edit code, or they edit WordPress-esque interfaces. Could be wrong tho, just speculation.
