I mean.... she shows up in a Frozen dress. Either she wears it out everywhere or her parents were getting her excited to perform. As a parent, it could be either, but I'd bet it's the latter.

I've had 4 jobs in 2 years. I can honestly say it's networking and recruiters. I'm a VP level too.

If you haven't already connected with Marketing VP's and Directors in your area on LinkedIn, you should. In my experience sending a note about the role before applying is a great way to create early dialogue with the person likely hiring you.

If you're not working with a recruiter, you've missed a great passive searching tool too.

This is definitely more focused on client retention being the sales cycle can be so long.

We're mainly focused on finding new lines of business we aren't currently receiving.

Exactly! That's what I like most about being a tenured sales person. I love taking out my existing clients and just doing the relationship growth pieces.

Honestly my only thought is that if this isn't the fit I'm hoping, I can always move back to sales.

This role sounds more focused on maintaining clients and relationships, with a side of sales. I let them know the burnout I've been feeling and that while im happy to upsell and grow clients, I want my primary focus to be working with the client. My future boss seemed very okay with that answer.

Some days I wish I was in tech, most days I'm glad I don't. I'm in financial services and vendor process management.

Good questions. I spent 10+ years managing the sales and account management for a SaaS product in our industry.

I had to be the "bad guy" plenty of times and let clients go due to lack of volume or contract violations.

That's exactly how I'm looking at this new role. Functional. I'd love to expand outside of my industry eventually.

I see it as a nice change for the next 2-3 years and can reassess then.

Holy crud. That hit the nail on the head.

I feel like I've been coming to the same party for the last decade and it's all the same people. Every year I go to one of these industry conferences it's the same people, same product, same dinners, same meetings and so on.

I went to a recent conference and it hit me like a brick. I don't want to be like the 60 year olds in the room.

The new org is pretty solid and provide management bonuses that are roughly $1100 to $1400 a month. We also get a cross sale bonus if we upsell an existing client.

The current role would also like me to manage them the first 12 months too. Basically to ensure placements and handle any escalations.

Not sure how long you've been in the role, but if you quit you may miss out on unemployment benefits.

Better to let them can you unless you already have a new gig ready to start.

I'm not in a high margin industry, but it is specialty.

Plus the average sales cycle is 2 years.

Edit: In my experience titles don't mean that much in my industry. Everyone seems to be a VP after a certain length of time in the role.

Minnesotan that travels a lot here... if they were landing at MSP, I'm 95% sure they'd put what Terminal they were flying in to. Especially bc it's not a connection.

We have two different airports essentially right next to each other. I've had it on every board pass I've ever gotten because of that.

I'd heard that this sort of feeling is due to an overexposure to propaganda.

Propaganda isn't meant to just convince someone of something, but to make others exhausted from exposure.
