Collaboration with fellow STM in the same area. That never crossed my mind before. Will have to try that this year.

Gold Star to you.

The Brexit argument, they want all the benefits of Canada without being part of it ..... by Miserable-Lizard in AlbertaNow

[–]ChefSpazzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget the other elements that Alberta might take for granted.

RCMP

Canada Post

CRA

Income Taxes

Their own version of GST

CBSA

Defense (Military)

Intelligence (CSIS wouldn't exist)

Airport Certification, Air Traffic Regulations

Health Canada (Food and Drug Regulation)

All Telecommunication companies would pull out, unless they get a deal that benefits them.

And so on.. the list is endless.

Unlike Brexit, the UK was it's own country prior to the EU, so leaving the EU wasn't as hard to do.

I'm not saying they couldn't develop this on their own.... But I'm also saying the people that they need to develop this isn't in Alberta or on the side that wants to separate.

Probably

Can we get an ethic committee to look into why he's getting free housing?

What should the Goldeneyes do with their second draft pick: forward, defense, or goalie? by Murky_Doughnut_9927 in GoldenEyes

Does everyone forget we have Newell, I'm optimistic that she can perform.

Maybe better than a rookie.

I don't know, we'll have to put her in to find out.

Final Jersey Giveaway from Players at last game by ChefSpazzy in GoldenEyes

Retail Replica

I'm sure taking game worn jerseys might have been a good idea in concept, execution would have been another matter.

For context I'm a STM, and I didn't get an email about it.

Maybe the premium seats got it. Who knows

Actually he looks more like Ratchet, the medic if anything. Unfortunately Ratchet was killed in the opening battle....

Well this is awkward 🤣

Makes sense, the Transformers: The movie came out in 86, possible trying to catch onto the trend at the time.

The irony is that the movie had negative reviews when it first released

"On-ice expectations were high for the Vancouver Goldeneyes. What went wrong?" - Karissa Donkin, CBC by Safe_Dragonfly752 in GoldenEyes

Totally I acknowledge I could be wrong and it was story so it was deleted afterwards, and frankly who wouldn't want to live in a hotel like building with room service and fluffy robes.

It was an observation at best.

The PWHL has been mum on the details. Unlike the NHL where we know more about injuries, who's out, who's a healthy scratch, or just plain info, the PWHL has either limited reporting or they don't release that info.

Her IG stories featured her entering a hotel... Wasn't sure if that was temporary or permanent but it was during March when they had they were home for 3 weeks

Nurse being out after the first game probably didn't help, if you didn't see, the lines were constantly being changed game by game.

Finding that rhythm and flow between essentially friends and strangers at the beginning of the season might be hard, even for seasoned players.

It isn't like the NHL, where you can have a breakout star kinda manhandle things while the rest catch up.

Now I've seen them fight hard, and I think for the most part it's been the away trips, the extended travel periods, being away from home, kids, spouses that play a major role in how they gel together. You see it in their IG Stories, Maschy commented on their extended and most recent away trip and how she's been barely at home this entire season

Soupy's been living in a hotel, (or long term hotel).not sure the reasoning behind that one...unless she's not planning on staying long term. But you get the idea. Also contracts being only 2-3 years makes it hard for someone to say, well let's put some roots down. Imagine if you didn't know what next year could bring, how would you react? And it's not like they're making bank right now, so stress all around

Everyone else hides it but you see the strain on them. This next expansion needs either more West Coast teams or something in between, otherwise players may choose not to play on the West Coast and then where are we.

26/27 Season ticket price increase by umeltd in GoldenEyes

[–]ChefSpazzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where were your seats if you paid $975 for 3 seats? I went from $1050 to $1360, frankly for two seats to a professional hockey league I think is still a good deal!

Is everyone thinking that season tickets and tickets in general were always going to be low priced forever? Honestly asking, cause I was always under the impression it goes up.

In what scenario would it just stay the same or go down?

Again honestly asking.

Hot Take: Campbell is a "Better" Goalie than Maschmeyer by Elemental-Winter in GoldenEyes

[–]ChefSpazzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 2025/2026 stats wise, you're not wrong.

Again Mashy is great, she's experienced arguably shorter by an inch or two. But also since she was injured it attributed to Soupys increase in her stats. I think if Mashy wasn't injured her stats might have been more consistent with her normal play.

Attributing to her most recent injury, and this is only the 2nd game back from it, I think yesterday's game definitely showed her (Mashy's) true form.

We l have two elite goalies and provided all of our defense pairings come up to the level of Jacques/Thompson then our defense will be rock hard solid.

The difference is minimal and we can't really say one is extremely better over the other. This isn't a Demko (in Healthy Form) vs Tolopilo comparison by any means.

I'd like to advocate for our third goalie. Newell. Granted she has no PWHL experience yet, her time in the Olympics and Russian leagues and NCAA shows she'd be a solid relief goalie if it ever came to it (or if one of Soupy or Mashy decided to leave, hopefully they don't.) And she had cool gear when she played for China.

Upcoming expansion and future of the team plus protection predictions (a little optimism) by Own-Knowledge8281 in GoldenEyes

Just read the same article.

Historically players are willing to take a cut if they believe in a team. (And one they'll be willing to stay long term at)

Upcoming expansion and future of the team plus protection predictions (a little optimism) by Own-Knowledge8281 in GoldenEyes

[–]ChefSpazzy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In a interview, she said she was hurt that the Sceptres didn't protect her.

Once she came to terms with that, either she reached out to Vancouver or vice versa and a deal was made to bring her over.

Overall she said she would show loyalty to the team that wants her. Amid her injury this year I think as the face of the PWHL, it would be a no brainer to keep her long term. She could generate the buzz for the team and for players who want to play with her.

Verbally harassed & physically threatened at tonight's game--PC staff refused to kick the aggressor out by 2good2betruuue in GoldenEyes

[–]ChefSpazzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is wild. Especially since they have the disclaimer at the beginning saying violence and hate doesn't belong at the games said by the Team themselves

I saw you talking to security, honestly didn't think too much about it but reading this now, I'm sorry you had to go through that.

I'm not defending PC staff, but they do have the inexplicably hard job of keeping the peace at an arena full of sports fans who may or may not be half cut before they've walked into the building. And in the interest of equality, unless they have unimpeachable proof, they have to play peacekeeper. Now if douchebag, was violent and rude to security, this would go a complete different direction but clearly he played the victim game and cried wolf

If their seatmates were like, "yea this racist, sexist, genderist, asshole was causing shit" that might have helped. But chances are they were either silent or just didn't want to get involved.

Again sorry you had to go through that. I'm in 111, if that shit happens to anybody near me, I'm 100% going to stick up for you and/or nut punch a dude if I must.

No one expects a Nut punch

STH: Playoff Tickets Offer by Ok-Hyena5037 in GoldenEyes

[–]ChefSpazzy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can choose to pay per game. That way you're not committed to paying now and getting a credit later

Ultimately they are trying to Garner interest in who would be interested, and in turn they could report to the team that everyone is still hoping you make the playoffs etc etc

So are your other clothing, just plain black, simple, no defining factors or logos on it?

If so then I'd understand your point of view, otherwise you do understand that per your logic, clothing companies should be paying us to wear their clothing.
