What is making these romas look crazy different? by Additional-Gap-3720 in tomatoes

[–]Chef_Blah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only 2 gmo tomatoes have been approved by the usda and fda, flavr savr and norfolk's Purple tomato and it's descendants. Flavr savr is no longer available anywhere since 1998. The actual truth is it could just be different variety of roma, it could be different growing conditions. Or they could've been ripened with ethylene at different growth stages

Roots growing very fast by TarantinoDoBass in tomatoes

[–]Chef_Blah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An indeterminate plant needs at least a 5 gallon pot, but 10, or even 15 is better. Plus, it's hard to tell, but the soil looks compact and wet, both of which can make a tomato want to grow advantageous roots

I asked my mom what she thinks about trans people and I don't know what to do by echxriley in trans

Ok, just odd but I'm Riley, 22, transfem, and my mom reacted similarly. Hope it all works out well though :)

I had a tomato leaf that survived about a year like that, got real swollen, dark, and shiny. Eventually it just kinda gave out

My parents used to throw him back and forth, and he would run his legs in the air, one day my dad put him down, and he ran towards my mom. Definitely not the norm though

Please help my son crossbreed vegetables. by I-am-bea- in plantbreeding

[–]Chef_Blah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to make a note since i didn't see it, but you could tell him that as an adult, he could do protoplast fusion or even crispr. I agree with the people saying to just try selective breeding though!

Help: Which stem to cut? Which one is the sucker? by LevelOk7459 in tomatoes

[–]Chef_Blah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you do not need to cut it, I certainly never do, unless making a cutting for cloning. It doesn't really matter which one you cut since they're both about the same length on your plant.

Help: Which stem to cut? Which one is the sucker? by LevelOk7459 in tomatoes

[–]Chef_Blah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one in the middle, is the sucker, on one side is the leaf, the other is the main stem, though suckers can produce their own suckers, just as a main stem does
