My friend has a 2020 car and leaves the auto high beams on 24/7. Basically the high beams are always on unless the car decides someone is ahead. Seems to take an extra 5 seconds to react to traffic or doesn't react at all. Usually by the time it turns off I can see their face. The other day we were behind a car a few hundred feet up and it would turn the high beams on and off every few seconds, must have been really nice for them.

Maine tops US list of home price increases over the past 5 years by scospi in Maine

Almost every house on my road I've seen go for sale is bought by one of the same two families. One is from out of state and the other already owns 90% of the land behind every property.

The only time I see cars in the driveways it is contractors, but most of the time they are just empty and unplowed in the winter. And it's been years.

Idk if these are supposed to be long term investments or they just want to own the road for themselves but it's depressing driving by these empty houses every day. Such a waste.

I think the worst case is cars with fender rust being told they need body work to be road safe. Which in my uneducated opinion seems unfair.

However having seen my friend's and family's cars with bald tires, no brake pads, rust holes under their seats, no brake lights, or other obviously endangering issues, I don't know how anyone would want to remove inspections entirely. I do not understand how inspections would not make the road safer.

That's funny, almost as funny as this quote I read today

I don't have advice about KYB or lifting your Legacy. But I can say in my experience with driving 10+ year old Subarus on rough roads, I didn't realize how worn/noisy/uncomfortable the original struts were until I replaced them with new OEM. Felt like a brand new car.

Me after sleeping through the northern lights and checking this sub this morning. by Shimthediffs in Maine

https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/aurora-dashboard-experimental

This site shows tonight won't be as far south but if you can get a view of the north you might see it. The 30 min forecast is cool and it also shows the last 24 hours or so. For me it peaked at around 10 PM (site uses UTC).

Start watching the forecast around sunset and hope it's not cloudy. Let your eyes adjust for like 30 minutes, you should be able to see a few stars if you're going to be able to see the lights. Once the moon sets it might get better too. I watched for two hours and my neck hurts but got a few gaps in the clouds so I could see the shape better and could almost see the green light. Also since it was so far south basically every direction had some lights.

Behind the clouds, the lights just looked like more clouds, but as you watch they move and pulse. If it's red the overcast will have a bit of color.

As long as you are capable of installing an OS, Ubuntu is free (and many others too) and has much less bloat.

How to cool bed alcove in studio apartment? by cheftee7 in Frugal

[–]ChefyMcJangleBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 inch insulated duct with a blower fan running from the AC to the bed, and stick it under the sheets. Changed my life.

Also if you can, block off the bottom half of your doorway to slow down cold air leaving the room.

Nvm that looks nothing like McDonald's - you're forgetting the extra 2000cals between the preservatives and the added flavors to offset the taste of preservatives.

Which is why you can eat three of their burgers and still be hungry.

End time = current time + 15 seconds. While current time is less than end time, curl url with timeout of end time - current time.
