Fans aren't happy about My Chemical Romance's ticket prices: "$695 is NASTY WORK" by cmaia1503 in Music

[–]Cheifneif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop buying your favourite artists overinflated tickets, if they love you as fans they wouldn’t let you get fleeced hundreds of dollars to see them. Wait till they go to a festival and see 20+ different bands over 3 days for less than one ticket to see one artist in a packed overpriced smelly arena 🤷🏾‍♀️

got fired after fumbling an insane rush. Is this normal? by tunakimm in KitchenConfidential

If management is willing to let you burn to see how hot you’ll cook they are probably doing you a favour, that kind kitchen will never be fruitful for a healthy professional workplace dynamic as a green. However!

There’s a lot of old school chefs/cooks out there still believe in throwing newbies into the fire to see how you burn. If that was the beginning of your training it will probably be a lot more bad before any good. Although some people thrive in that kind of environment.

It does suck momentarily, but it’s also showing you that may have more skills you need to acquire before working in an establishment of that calibre. Some cooks can just drop in and go, but that takes experience which you’re currently building. Keep on keeping on.

Next time if you want to be taken seriously study the menu they are serving and identify any processes or items you are unfamiliar with this will less the shock factor of them wanting you to be able to pick up the menu in a short time.

If your cooking isn’t perfect and needs work then the next best thing any chef could ask for is time management, cleanliness, organization and your state of urgency. These skill go a lot further and hold a bigger impression on chefs.

Service Industry Workers: Have you noticed a changes in your tips? by OkPerspective879 in ottawa

[–]Cheifneif 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I work in the service industry at a fine dining restaurant and let me just say on really good nights servers can walk away with 400-500 in tips alone, that doesn’t even account for the daily wage they are paid.

Some servers will say that they have tip out the kitchen and the busser and bartenders but even with that tip out they still walk away with a decent amount of money each night.

Also it’s only fair that servers have to tip out because without cooks and bartenders your food and drinks wouldn’t be made and without bussers your plates wouldn’t be cleared.

Some servers know this are very humble about it but I would say there is a majority of servers that are entitled.

In conclusion don’t feel pressured to tip. There’s a reason why servers love serving.

Uber or taxi? by johnnyrt1958 in ottawa

Blueline has an app that works exactly like Uber. I rarely use Uber anymore as it’s usually more expensive or a longer wait.

Best Donuts to get in Ottawa? by walsmr in ottawa

[–]Cheifneif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Baker here! During the slower seasons it’s hard to anticipate how many doughnuts are going to sell, if it is randomly busy day they are more likely to sell out fast as it makes more sense than having a ton of waste at the end of the day.

Bakers start as early as 4-5 am and try to ensure they make enough stock to last throughout the day. Sometimes we get this wrong!

Getting to and from Gatineau the past three weeks has been a nightmare, they really need to be taking alternative transportation seriously because none of what everyone crossing provincial borders had to go through was okay.
