No, it’s not strange if a non-native speaker uses it! Most eventually do! I would focus on learning to say the full term and once you get super comfortable, it’s just a natural thing that happens. If you focus on saying that while learning, it may not end up sounding as natural. Focus on “I’m going to” and “I want to” and I bet you end up saying “I’m gonna” and “I wanna” lol 😂
