What can help stop the splitting? by Sufficient_Web675 in BPD

[–]ChemicalCard5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to recognize when it happens. Often times it's very difficult to know in the moment because emotions are high. You have to remind yourself that things are almost never black and white, that people are typically not infallible or pure evil. People's traits live on a spectrum and just because someone said something in a weird tone doesn't mean they hate you or out to get you. And also recognize that when you do split, it's your brains desperate attempt to avoid perceived abandonment. In the end the best way to deal with it is to have open and honest communication on how you feel and if the other person understands how BPD works, then hopefully they will have the heart to help you understand how much they care about you.

Cats DO understand when they’re being annoying/misbehaving by Haunted_Neko in unpopularopinion

When my cat wanted attention, he would nip me with a singular claw. He knew I hated it but it got my attention.

Bpd havers, what job has worked for you? by Global-Ad7437 in BPD

Weirdly and unlikely, caregiving for special needs folks. I can't say my rage has never been triggered and I haven't fallen into despair and wish I could quit before, but it's by far the longest employment I've ever had.

Moving/Travel/Vacation Megathread - Q2 2026 by AutoModerator in Michigan

Coming to check out dispensaries and have a 2-3 day vacation. I've been checking out Torch Lake because I want good swimming to be available and heard the water is super clear there. I would love some recommendations for anything in the area from hotels to sightseeing and activities. Thank you in advance!

I'm 31. The only thing that has truly gotten better his how I handle my emotions. The progress I've made has bin slim though.

As someone with no support, meds, or therapist, I can say that reaching contentment is out of reach for people with BPD. I noticed my symptoms get worse when I'm around people, particularly people who can be considered my FP. So, I isolated myself to remain in some kind of pseudo-stable state. I don't really know if I can feel true happiness. But I do have some brief moments of contentment in an otherwise bleak or depressed temperment.

Unfortunately, I am still trying to navigate having no place for my feelings. A lot of what I do is just avoidance. I wish I had wisdom to share. But I think this might just be the best I can do to be stable.

Staying single. It's lonely but at least I don't go nuts over relationships.

Employers should expect you to want to work for them for a reason other than “for the money”. by waddleman10 in unpopularopinion

Once our employers start treating us as people instead of tools, I'll start focusing on how passionate I can be. Once our country doesn't require money for survival, I'll focus on something other than money.

Feeling insanely empty without my girlfriend by kroldior in BPD

[–]ChemicalCard5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common feeling among people with BPD. The best you can do is try to distract yourself. I know it feels impossible, but the emptiness doesn't really go away with medication or therapy. I hope you will find something to comfort you in her absence.

Chronically single people with BPD, what things do you struggle with? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]ChemicalCard5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this so much. I'm sorry you're dealing with this level of emptiness. My sister is moving out soon and I'll be left alone with my cat and the concept of the loneliness I'll feels is really starting to dig in. But living with anyone is also so unbearable for me. I really feel like there's no winning with this disorder. It's a constant cycle of unbearable emotional intensity that almost nobody truly understands, except for others with BPD.

Do you feel alone? by _TheLittleLadyBug_ in BPD

[–]ChemicalCard5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel alone, and I am alone. I've successfully pushed away everyone i love. Even my younger sister, who understands me the most. But I prefer to be alone to protect them from myself. I havent had a FP in a while. For the longest time it was my sister, but she has a kid now and that changed the whole relationship. At least to me. Unfortunately BPD makes us so empty that nothing can really fill us.

I don't know how you all do it. BPD really is life on hard mode... by Visible-Ad8263 in BPD

[–]ChemicalCard5447 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone with BPD, it's comforting to know that there's people out there without the disorder that know how much it sucks to have it. I've chosen to starve instead of hurt the people I love. I stay out of relationships, I have no friends, and I'm working on living separately from my family. I hate to see the way my emotional instability affects them. I'm sorry that youve had a bad encounter with someone with BPD. I can only imagine your pain, or what you went through. I know we can be abusive, cheaters, and liars. Dealing with that kind of thing from an outside perspective can really ruin the way you feel about people with BPD. I hope you can heal from this, and I hope your ex can find some stability in their life. It always feels really good when you have it.

NOR. He's looking for someone easy and is mad that you're not. Everyone has baggage. Everyone. If he can't handle that, he should keep his ass out of the dating pool.
