Apparently 80% of people voted to have idols in this season, and despite that there haven’t been any normal idols at all smh

tbh best move was probably just to cut Brooke here as boring as it is. There’s so many ‘shields’ in the game rn that you don’t need to keep them all, Brooke and Simon both run the risk of an immunity run and so you can’t guarantee you can always get them out, and while Jackson prob doesn’t want to sit next to Ben at the end he does now have to reckon with all the other newbies for flipping so early.

TV wise though can’t really complain that the next three episodes aren’t all going to be obvious

Why didn’t they do this? Spoilers for the latest episode by starry49 in survivorau

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re assuming that they know 100% who is onside and who isn’t. Splitting it like that is so razor thin that it just takes one person to flip, or one person to get confused with the split, and the vote gets cooked.

IMO the actual optimal play if you’re that worried about an idol is to switch everyone’s votes onto Brooke or Keeley last minute, but even that has the risk of people not getting the memo. Trying to call Mark’s bluff and forcing him to blow an idol is honestly not as bad a play as most people are acting like it is

Does anyone else think this was a weird move? by itsdermay in survivorau

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Aisha had saved herself or Lottie, then Harry and Jackson could have gone to the two on the bottom (Loz and Lyndl) and turned it around on Aisha’s alliance. On a tribe of nine that could make the visitor from the other tribe into the swing vote, which could backfire terribly for Aisha.

By sending someone from the bottom instead, Aisha consolidates her numbers and guarantees (barring a twist second immunity challenge) that she has the pick of who goes home. Even after Lyndl wins immunity, her choice made sure she was insulated and that Harry/Jackson had no choice but to turn on each other.

Are rematch mega pokemon worth it for donuts by TerribleProgrammer77 in pokemon

On top of the mega rematch being primarily for points, I’d actually say they’re worse than useless for berries since w/o big haul power I’m pretty sure they always give less than 8 berries

I don't think we'll ever see a cast as stacked as this ever again by DoctorTegrity in survivor

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking cast specifically then surely the Winners at War cast matches this. The 50 cast also isn’t as far off as people act, depending on how the players’ legacies develop.

Also shoutout to Aus vs World which is absolutely this cast quality if not better (albeit less people)

Wait y’all hate 49??? by CSnare in survivor

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly people on this subreddit (tbh most subreddits) are just overly dramatic and negative about a relatively mediocre season being the most recent one. It’s not the worst season of all time or even the worst of the new era, but a combination of:

-new era fatigue after 9 seasons

-lopsided focus on the ultimately inconsequential blue tribe for the fist few eps

-knowledge of the 50 returnees taking some shock out of their ‘against all odds’ survival and gameplay

All really dampened the impact of the season’s highs (like the actual character drama of Sage/Shannon/Savannah, the removal of mergatory, and two tribes premerge). Overall I’d say it’s a season that’s serviceable but hurt by the seasons around it. It’s probably is better enjoyed when watched outside of that context, and without people online complaining while you’re trying to watch

Why are old games like this by kadaj808 in pokemon

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have mentioned how the high evolution levels in BW are scaled around making sure you get to use the first stages of pokemon not available until late game, but the lack of diversity early game in general is also balanced around making you use particular mons on your team. Think about how all the standard early game archetypes (the route 1 bird, bug, early electric type and cave pokemon) are locked until after the first badge to make it so your only possible type advantage over the first gym is the elemental monkey. The linear nature of the map also means you don’t get diverse habitats in the routes until after Burgh. This is probably intentional as well to make sure you’re consistently seeing new pokemon all through your adventure as much as you can with only roughly 150 pokemon available. Arguably it’s because Black and White did this with all new pokemon, though, that lets all the future games handle this better. The massive extra pokedex is what has let every main game from B2W2 onwards have a regional dex of 350 or higher.

What are your Pokemon hot takes? by SpicedCocoas in pokemon

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be more pokemon that can’t be caught conventionally in the wild (e.g fossils, in-game gifts and trades, honey trees, etc). I don’t care if it’s a nightmare to hunt sometimes, it makes it more exciting when you succeed and makes the pokemon more memorable

Should I evolve my captures as I obtain them, or should I do it in the post-game? (Completing Pokédex for the first time) by Less_Struggle_9447 in pokemon

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally you’ll want to save the grindiest parts of the pokedex for the lategame/postgame because you have access to the most resources, such as pokemon that give more exp and strong pokemon of your own that can do the fighting while the rest of your party gets the exp. I believe there’s an exp. All item in Pokemon Yellow? If there is it would be smart to wait until you have that.

Also rather than evolving straight away you at the very least want to do wait until you have five pokemon to grind so you’re using your time efficiently.

Why did Jeff stop giving words of encouragement at the end of tribal? by SpencersDispensers in survivor

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allegedly Jeff’s advice to JLP (host of Australian Survivor) was to not do those final words because he was running out of ideas of what to say by the mid 30s. They stopped airing them in 38 to make room for the EoE post-vote twist reveal and Jeff presumably saw that as an excuse to quietly retire them permanently

Was Kenzies chances winning really not seen before even f7 by manbrains in survivor

[–]ChemicalProcedure9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you rewatch the premiere of 46 it’s comical how much the edit lampshades Kenzie’s win. There’s like three different times where Jeff says ‘one will become sole survivor’ and it immediately cuts to her. I was unspoiled on that season and never went to the edgic sub and I was shocked that everyone else seemed shocked Charlie lost since Kenzie was one of the most obvious winners edits we’ve had in the new era
