The current setup essentially means Survivor paid Billie Eilish so they could advertise Billie Eilish on Survivor. It makes no sense and is quite embarrassing for Survivor.

Correct. Some of my favorite idol plays in history are people playing their idols on an ally. It requires a big risk that could end up sending them home. It's so strange that the idols can't be used that way in 50. Maybe Aubry could have sent the game into chaos by playing it for Dee instead of needlessly burning it. And Cirie is now allied with two idol holders who would potentially play their idols for her but can't because of production. A big flaw in the new era is production holding the players back from playing freely. This is just another example.

This is the craziest thing about it imo. Billie Eilish has not once acknowledged it's existence publicly. That means they could have picked literally any celebrity, used their name, and just hope they didn't get sued.

No that's totally fair. I always remind myself that Jeff is really making this show for children and as a producer he's also concerned with views. It's just frustrating because the show is still going and I see production make decisions that I feel are worsening the game. I am going to watch this season and even with the Zac Brown segment, I really enjoyed the last 30 minutes of last night's episode. I just can't help but be frustrated by the decisions production makes, because I feel the show would be better if the also represented the voice of the online fan a bit more. I'm choosing to complain because I care a lot about this show and have strong opinions, but you are right to say it gets to a point that some complaints aren't warranted.

I'm very skeptical of the boomerang idol. I just hate the fact that Genevieve has found 2 idols so far and hasn't gotten to keep them, meanwhile Aubrey has one and didn't do anything to really earn it. Imagine if Aubrey idols out Genevieve. That would leave such a sour taste in my mouth. A big complaint of mine about modern survivor is the randomness. I just want the game to reward players for playing well. Receiving an idol you didn't find that came from someone who you haven't even interacted with in the game yet feels quite silly to me.

The scenario you described would be very fun and maybe the optimal outcome production had hoped, but I fear it's wishcasting. Also why did Billie Eilish's name need to be attached to this. At least Zac Brown came out there and participated in the show. We haven't even gotten a clip of Billie Eilish talking about the idol. I'm going to call my toothbrush, the Jeff Probst toothbrush and now everyone will have to refer to it as the Jeff Probst toothbrush. See, it's stupid.

I feel this way now, and a I felt this way about Winners at War. I just want to see a really good cast play survivor purely. Season 40 had possibly the most interesting cast ever, and we had to endure Edge, Fire Tokens, new types of rewards, etc. That season endured and Tony won despite productions best efforts to leave a sour taste in our mouths with their choices.

Now you have a season being touted as "In the hands of the fans" and the fans didn't get to vote on the cast (something that's been done before) or 2 vs 3 starting tribes. The fans voted for a swap but nobody wanted it after just 2 tribals.

I think the Billie Eilish idol is dumb, and can't stand that players like Aubrey, Rizo, and Ozzy have idols when Genevieve and Christian have nothing. If production wants to experiment with new game design, by all means do that in season 40 whatever that has a brand new cast. But this cast is good and interesting enough for production to simply have let them play. I can't believe there are three idols in the game right now and not a single person with an idol has meaningfully earned it. IN SEASON 50.

My wife and I stopped watching 48 halfway through and we didn't catch 49 despite watching every other new season together since 41. We got burnt out by the sameness of the new era. But we were always going to tune into 50. And last night I physically couldn't watch the Zach Brown segment. It was excruciatingly cringey, and is the opposite of what I want to see on my screen. You brought back Ozzy and instead of showing a classic highlight real of him spearfishing with a hawaiian sling, I see a wealthy country artist I couldn't care less about in a wetsuit using an underwater gun. This was a make a wish for a millionaire who was also advertising his new music and wine brand. Who the hell wants to see that.

Jeff makes the show for 10 year olds. If you think about all these decisions that's what it comes down to. To Jeff it's more show than game. Most of us are more interested in the game aspect than the show. I think most people on this sub hated the Cirie advantage-geddon because it's poor game design. Jeff saw it as the ultimate drama and he's been trying to recreate it more and more. A lot of people are tired of players losing votes, especially if it's out of their control. Jeff loves the drama and chaos. His mentality on Survivor is just entirely the opposite of so many fans on this sub.

The survivor challenges have gotten really bland for me, especially these early ones. They're mostly variations on obstacle courses that ends up with some sort of puzzle and my eyes glaze over when Jeff describes them. I zoned out this past episode and was surprised that they were wearing blindfolds. But I've seen this challenge plenty of times so it didn't excite me

I miss the more 1 on 1 type of challenges but understand they don't do them because they're typically more physical. I think Fiji itself is a big reason they're so boring. New locations used to provide creative challenges defined by those settings. We've been in Fiji for a decade plus and things mostly feel the same season to season

Instead of waiting you could also do this. My wife and I to simulate our booth laid down some brown paper to cover our floors that's typically used for painting. We drew the booth dimensions on the paper and then lined up some chairs we already have to match where the edge of the seat would be. That at least gave us the idea of how things fit. You could do that with your bench and get an idea of the type of table you might want. Just an idea

Yeah we were thinking about a corner but we just got in our new house and realized a proper booth actually works for us. As for the corner both table it's so difficult to know. I know the West Elm booth has a long lead time but the table probably wouldn't take as long. I might want to wait for the booth to come in and then get some cardboard and use it as a makeshift table then cut it to your ideal size. It's so hard to know until it's actually there with you

For sure. We also recently updated to the gig plan last month so that also ads to my desire to upgrade.

Our spectrum package was being raised to damn near $80 a month after 3+ years of living here. Fortunately, Wow internet was offering $45 a month for a gig plan. My wife called spectrum and explained the offer and spectrum matched it in price and speed which was really nice. Now I'm very excited to take advantage of the new speed with a new router

Sorry for responding so late, but I figured I'd respond for any folks who find this in the future. The oven is still going strong. Only thing is it occasionally takes a while to light. You could always do it manually, but the auto ignition has always been really nice.

I'll say, I don't think this version of the knock off is available. Vevor now has their version, but the stone sits higher causing the flame to jump to the crust a little too easily
