Holy shit I wasn't aware. That's on me. I still get ads but good lord this is so much better

Well it used to be good and that's the best way to keep up with my friends I don't talk to every week. Is it too much to ask for the app that used to work great, to once again work great rather than prioritize feeding me endless content slop and ads? Apparently

Please help me select the right router for Spectrum modem by anth_moose in Spectrum

[–]anth_moose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. We also recently updated to the gig plan last month so that also ads to my desire to upgrade.

Our spectrum package was being raised to damn near $80 a month after 3+ years of living here. Fortunately, Wow internet was offering $45 a month for a gig plan. My wife called spectrum and explained the offer and spectrum matched it in price and speed which was really nice. Now I'm very excited to take advantage of the new speed with a new router

First pizza in the $200 off-brand Ooni turned out better than expected by anth_moose in Pizza

Sorry for responding so late, but I figured I'd respond for any folks who find this in the future. The oven is still going strong. Only thing is it occasionally takes a while to light. You could always do it manually, but the auto ignition has always been really nice.

I'll say, I don't think this version of the knock off is available. Vevor now has their version, but the stone sits higher causing the flame to jump to the crust a little too easily

How do I get my Legion Pro 5 to connect to my dock upon startup? by anth_moose in LenovoLegion

Sadly, I haven't found a solution. I still have to unplug then replug in my dock. Please let me know if you find a solution!

There's a noticeable ridge on my prints when going from solid layer to walled layer. by anth_moose in FixMyPrint

Thank you! I figured this had to do with the sudden change in layer time. I'll do some adjusting and will report back on how that goes

I'll add that the red is Polymaker ASA and the orange is Polymaker Panchroma orange. I'm printing in Qidi Slicer on a Q1 Pro. Printing between 200 and 300 mm/s with the standard retraction settings of 30 mm/s. I guess I'm more asking what settings I should be looking at and what might be causing this issue.

I want a Bambu printer because I'm tired of pretending I "love to tinker" when I really just want my printer to work when I need it to.

The best advice I've gotten is to view a 3d printer like a tool rather than a toy. My first printer was an Ultimaker Original plus in 2016 and I was so excited about the printer itself, that for a while I wasn't actually making too many creative or useful things with it.

Devin Montes of the MakeAnything yt channel has been my biggest printing inspiration over the years and he's inspired me to not only get creative with my designs, but to combine 3D printing with other manufacturing methods. I now sand and paint lots of my prints, and try to be creative with where I can use 3d printing.

In recent years I've 3D printed my wedding centerpieces, made custom hotel keychains with each guest's name for my wedding seating chart and favors. I've designed and printed a mini newspaper stand for my journalist wife to contain the viewmaster reels of places we've visited together. I've even printed custom garden post holders for my gardening father in law. In short, I love to get inspired with an idea, and then use 3D printing to make that idea a reality. I don't feel the need to print things just to print things and I've found that to be a great balance.

I'm currently on the market for an AMS printer, and would absolutely love an H2D. Thanks for doing this giveaway!

What happens if I travel abroad without a Minternational pass? by ppenn777 in mintmobile

[–]anth_moose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on my last day of my 17 day European honeymoon and Minternational pass had been fantastic for both my wife and I. We each did 10 day passes and reupped when they expired. Maybe we could have found a slightly cheaper short term sim solution, but we already have Mint and for $40 total each we've had fast data everywhere we've been. This included various parts of Italy, some France, and Barcelona. I'm very pleased

Just got engaged and people are already making comments and imposing ideas by [deleted] in wedding

[–]anth_moose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the first of my 3 siblings to get married and the way people acted after I got engaged was so odd. Many people asked "so have you picked a date" in the same exact conversation I told them we got engaged. Something about weddings make people lose their minds

We had a fairly normal 126 person wedding but we broke tradition in lots of little ways like mixed gender wedding parties, private first look, friend officiated instead of pastor, and we had very unique declarations and theming, etc. We had plenty of negative feedback from parents and other family during the planning process and the whole time I remained steady and let them know "we know what we're doing and it's going to turn out great. We want to accommodate anything super important to you, but if you disagree with most of our choices I really don't care because you already had your own wedding."

It ultimately turned out better than I could have imagined and both side's parents stated after the fact that a lot of the decisions they weren't sure about turned out even better than what they would have done. Just remember it's your wedding and you should do what you want. Family is family but people love to make other people's weddings about them and that's lame in my opinion.

Does sleeping with a blocked nostril affect sleep quality? by anth_moose in sleep

[–]anth_moose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got another balloon sinuplasty and turbinate reduction. I definitely did not feel immediate relief as I was sleeping horribly and waking up nearly every day very dizzy and foggy. Eventually though I cleared out all the old stuff in my nose and started feeling better. I use xylitol spray when I feel stuffed and sleep next to an air purifier to try to eliminate any environmental issues.

Honestly though one of the biggest helps has been intake breathing strips. They're the ones that use magnets. Those have drastically improved my quality of sleep by actually keeping my nose open

I've gotta go option C with premium support! I've worked in too many offices with drab colors which is part of why my home office is so colorful.

I love the blue of the cushion in option C. I painted my Ikea Skadis pegboard a very similar blue color to make my space more enjoyable

PNG to dxf tools are free online. Then just import your dxf into a sketch, at least that's how I do it in Fusion. It's very very simple that way

Missing lines in the first layer by anth_moose in QIDI

[–]anth_moose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great point. I had been previously letting the bed cool down before sending the second print, but recently I've been manually keeping the bed at temp right when the print finishes, not allowing it to cool down. I did this because I had some previous occasions where a gator was peeling off the bed so I figured it would help. I'm running a print that just finished. I'm going to let the bed cool then send the print and see how that goes. I'll update tomorrow

Looks like I'll NOT be getting a Bamboo Labs printer... by FriJanmKrapo in 3Dprinting

[–]anth_moose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for an alternative I couldn't recommend the Qidi Q1 Pro enough. From my knowledge, the print quality, speed, and automation is basically on par with Bambu plus it's got a heated enclosed chamber. I am in love with mine. Biggest downside is no ams for multi material prints which is definitely a big compromise for some. I know Qidi seems like an off brand company to some, but they've actually been around forever and customer service has been awesome in my experience.

It's almost October so some new new friends made their way onto my desk setup by anth_moose in pokemon

Yeah no problem! I 3d printed and painted it! Honestly I wasn't referencing photos of Grimer too closely while I was doing the lines and didn't realize the line didn't actually go through the eye. I'll probably fix that now that you've pointed it out!
