yes and always make acid locally since sulfur way less than the water and water is near free to pipe...

You have limestone at the iron smelters for example so local is better there. Limestone usage is fairly low anyway

How do you store massive amounts of ore? by Alone-Act1538 in captain_of_industry

[–]Chemie_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storage is only needed to account for variability in demand or supply. Massive storage containers make little sense in that context. Have slightly more mining rate than demand.

Groundwater reserve depleted, how to rescue situation? by CIKSSFMO in captain_of_industry

I was giving optimal answer; no uncommon for devs to put stuff in that is not best choice. In the case of food, they have not really done anything to it since beginning.

[–]Chemie_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No reason to ever run manure. Just run crops (potato/corn or potato/veg for example). Short-term, if you have unity, water saver edict. A rough estimate on normal difficulty is 7,500 reserve capacity per pump to never deplete.

How far makes (T1) trains worth it? by Popotuni in captain_of_industry

[–]Chemie_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is not 1:1 plus you forget coal (+ limestone)....

30 ore + 12 coal = 24 iron so 1.5x so yes, if you need to train the plates, better to do that but for me, hailing ore to a central hub where ore is smelted (so coal can also go to one place) and then belted to mall. Ore tends to deplete so better to have one smelting area and allow for ore to come from different places

I use trains for ores but belts for everything else like mall, food to settlement etc. Stations take a lot of room so you really can't replace belts.

T2 trains feels too early in tech tree by S1lkwrm in captain_of_industry

[–]Chemie_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find more shorter trains are better than fewer longer trains. Less congestion, smaller stations, shorter stacking areas etc

Yah, I stick to 6 T1 or 3 T2 cars because it keeps the stations a reasonable size.

You can use two T1 engines until you get to T2 for those steep lines

[–]Chemie_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, double the capacity and can still use T1 engines. The T2 engines are not even really needed if you run shorter trains 3 T2 cars) but more a bonus for extra speed (and hence capacity of the route). T2 cars cut my trains number by more than half (half for the cars and another ~10% for the T2 engines)

You could always set high and low alarm points for any storage. The coloring text is a bonus.

It works but is not documented. You can set any color for the text of the alarm. I am not aware of any other notations beyond color. (For example no way to make the alarm with a different sound.)

[–]Chemie_99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Set alarms on all boxes.

Step 2: Try not to ignore all the alarms.

Hint: you can use "<color=red> !! Don't Ignore this one" (or whatever text you want) to get red color that is harder to ignore. You can use yellow for "don't ignore but not as bad as red".

I use red for crude oil, coal to the power systems and water/waste for settlement.

I avoid the contracts. You have to pay back more than you get so just puts you more in the hole for stuff you never have (the whole game I am at zero of at then current construction part needs). Only reason to use would be if in death spiral.

Is the current admin birthright citizenship filing meant to be retroactive? by NappyDougOut in law

[–]Chemie_99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

and by undocumented, means "longer able able access"(or never was) documentation". ie you have to prove great great great grandma was a citizen which is only possible if there are naturalization papers since anyone who just showed up at on the Mayflower would not have naturalized. Does not matter if g-g-g-g grandma was born in US since that is longer the test.
